Why couldn't they just have Mingyu end up like Suoxin in Ruyi? Suoxin was badly hurt, but she was still able to live and be married, and visit Ruyi whenever and be happy. Mingyu didn't need to die to further Yingluo's story, Ruyi was able to further her story with Suoxin's torture without Suoxin dying. Character death isn't always necessary, you can let characters live and still impart the same sentiments. I just felt like Mingyu's death was always unnecessary, she was very sweet and was another sister figure for Yingluo. They could've just had Mingyu attempt suicide but fail, and still live, and still be able to expose Chenbi's actions with the gold tool set. The doctors would've been able to take care of Mingyu's condition from the needles, because realistically the needles that entered her body could just sit in her body without causing real harm, and her heart issues were likely due to stress and psychological duress from what Concubine Chun put her through.
I liked that it showed YL mourning, the denial when she went to the late empress palace and started cleaning, she wanted to go back to the days when she was maid, the pain in the present was too much.
Sad, but she didn't want to leave her truest friend, start a new life with a new husband, only to die in a few months. The young lady was already terminally ill and knew her fate; she wanted to spend the last months of her life where she knew she was appreciated, loved, respected and treated well. Not that a new husband would not be all that and more, but she had to consider the possibility of a pregnancy, too, being newly married and how would her body handle that? Even if she lived long enough to give birth to a healthy child, her husband would be a widower at some point in the near future and have to rely on another woman to raise or help him raise their child. Mingyu wasn't selfish or proud; she knew her future was limited and because she *was* selfless, she knew she couldn't go through with her marriage and wouldn't tell anyone the reasons for that. Poor girl couldn't even be happy for herself that she was finally getting married to have her own life and family. The women in the dynasties were truly a sad lot.
I really would like to ask the director, did you really have to kill her ? Why ? She lived her whole life serving others, why couldn’t you let her be happy for a moment with her bae ??? Wtf
@@soonsuicidal I think you misunderstood but Yingluo didn't had a chance to marry the one he liked (Fuheng) so she wants Mingyu to marry Hailancha because Mingyu and Hailancha liked each other. Mingyu even agreed to the marriage but she realized that she wouldn't live longer.

There was a period of time when mingyu had to serve Chun. Chun forced needles into mingyu’s arteries causing her to die slowly as the needles trevel into her heart. If im not mistaken, the doctor was only able to retrieve 6 out of 8 needles from her body. Mingyu was going to die very soon anyway so she didnt want to cause burden marrying hailancha. That fucker chenbi used this opportunity to break yingluo and it did work to some extent.
