I love Yinglou and Fu Heng but.......at this point in time. What's the point? What's the point of her promise? Like there's going to be a next life and she's going to remember to keep her promise. She doesn't deserve him in the first place. Not once did she ever put him first. I'm still shaking my head years later. But the Emperor wanted her even though he knew she loved the other guy. In that time, was she supposed to get up and leave? This isn't 2024, what rights do you think she have? He could have raped her and told her to smile the entire time like she was enjoying and then afterwards, ordered her to say she loved him. She's literally trying to survive and she's wrong for that?
Yinglou's true love was Fu heng. He betrayed her trust, even to save her, she never ever considered revenge or lashing out. She still looked out for him until the end. She grew to love Hongli, like in an arranged marriage.. but her heart belonged to Fu heng. Fu heng slacked his feet, and became open to treating Erqing well, but realized her character, and did his best to contain Erqing, knowing she would try to hurt Yinglou, even to the damage of his reputation and servants. He acknowledged his loss, let go, and continued to love her from afar, warn her, and even protect Mingyu, and go against Hongli. That's why Hongli's insecurity is important. He had Yinglou, yes, but struggled to win her over. He labored, raged, tantrumed, lanquished, and resented the bitter work of winning her heart, then at last, when he'd won her over, all he could see was his prize. This is especially clever, when considering how selfish Hongli is that yinglou told empress Nara whoever says i love you first loses really is as a line. Yinglou forced Hongli to prove his worthiness to her, empress Nara did the opposite.
Thats a great view thats how I see it too. Yingluo made the emperor work for her love and he's use to the opposite where consorts had to work for his favor. While Yingluo love the Emperor she's not in love with him like she is with Fu Heng.
I think not having a happy life with Fuheng is Yinglou's greatest unspoken regret
I agree. When she made the decision to help out her friend and return to the palace....she knew the only person that was powerful enough to protect them/help her avenge the death of the Empress/her sister was the Emperor....before she committed to this she thought about Fuheng....when he returned and saw her as consort Ling....she thought about him again. Fuheng always had her heart....just like she always had his.....unfortunately the selfish a$$ Emperor ruined it.
i dont think she regret it, because she only let go after he was going to marry that evil trick... i honestly think that she was praying he would so she could continue getting to the bottom of finding out who killed her sister and her revenge, her character was the very vindictive. but it was a lovely but sad end to fuheng that kept us all hoping they did meet up .....
The emperor never allowed Fu heng to be with Yinglou. The empress wanted it but the emperor didn’t. The emperor and all his consorts and concubines but wouldn’t allow his favored soldier have the woman he loved. This was such an incredible series with a great cast, great scenery, great story.

Fu Heng was denied Yingluo. It broke both their hearts. She could never love him as she had hoped because of her status. Fu Heng watched over her regardless. To see her trying to stay calm because if she wept for his loss it would be disastrous. She made a huge promise to him in the afterlife to guard him. That was her way of saying I have always loved you,
What I especially love about the way Fuheng went, is that I didn't get to see him go but I get to hear about it. Therefore, I can feel what Yingluo feels at that moment to an even higher degree. 😭This promise alone is a good enough reason to have a whole series set on their next lives together where Yingluo will be the one to guard Fuheng (preferably set in the same era with the same vibe). 🙏 Definitely one of the most bittersweet moment in drama history for me.

Personally, I think as long as the actors are good at what they do then I dont mind seeing the same actors in many different dramas together.

Mmm... I don't think so. She was in love with Fuheng. She committed herself to the emperor because she knew that if she became his woman, there would be no going back. If she wanted to live well and achieve her goals, she had to devote herself to that. I think she came to love the emperor, but I don't think she was in love with him like she was with Fuheng. It would be really hard to love the person who ruined the marriage you wanted out of his own selfishness. She knew it, and accepted it, and as she said to Consort Shu, since she made that decision, she would never go back.
I honestly think she just learned to love the emperor. But if there were no strict rules, no harem, no imperial man with absolute power. She would've married Fu Heng from the very start. Or after she avenged the late empress, she would've eloped with Fu Heng. However, she's already the emperor's consort. With all their strict rules, superstitions, values, and punishment. She just embraced the life she chosed and has now, because she doesn't really have a family to go back to (since she is a estranged to her father)

She didn't l love Fu Heng most but she did care about his well-being. She said in no uncertain terms a woman only has a child for the man she loves (the Emperor is the man she loves).

I think she loved them both. Perhaps in different ways. Fuheng was the first love, sweet and pure, and a great complement to each other’s personalities. They would have been endgame if circumstances allowed. She started with the Emperor on purely selfish reasons, but grew to love him...he’s the one person who sees through all her deceptions, but loves and gives into her anyway. I don’t think this scene makes sense if her feelings are just friendship, especially the tearful promise.

She learned to care for the emperor as she had no options, but still loved FuHeng. Felt like they both look forward to a future being together that is why FuHeng pushed himself to accomplish great military feats. Remember when he came back victorius from battle and preparing to ask the emperor's favor of granting them marriage but he forced him to marry ErQing. Still he planned to ask she be given to him as concubine, the next best thing, but when he again arrived victorius from war he found the emperor has ready made WeiYingLou his favored concubine.

The Story of Yanxi Palace VS Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace , both drama were about Emperor Qianlong in the Qing dynasty, the same characters' name but of different storytelling. I'm not sure which drama was based on original history. But I love the love story of Fuheng and Yinglou.
Ruyi's Royal Love was probably the more realistic one out of the 2.

I started out really liking her in the beginning but ended up hating her and the emperor to no end. This miserable woman would stop at nothing to achieve her goals and the emperor is a dog in heat. They deserve each other. I just feel sorry for both Fu Heng and his sister. They both wholeheartedly cared for Yingluo and protected her until their last breath.
Yinglue, was 💯% committed to them. His sister suggested to the Emperor that he had feelings for her. Remember the Emperor even asked her, why go after Fu, why didn’t you come after me? After the sister’s death is when the Emperor began embracing his thoughts. I couldn’t stand the Emperor because he knew Fu was in love with her and had him to marry the other. This series truly captivated me.
@@sisterphyllis4753 Yingluo is 100% committed to herself and her revenge. How is she 100% committed to Fuheng and Empress Fuca? When was Fuheng ever a priority to her? When did she ever fought for him? Empress Fuca- With her dying wish, she had Yingluo safely leave the chaotic palace ( or else the emperor would have killed her and for Yinglue’s freedom/happiness) and asked her to not take revenge for her. Yingluo disregarded her wishes, craw back into the palace and climbed like a monkey on that pig of an emperor. That’s when I lost all respect for her. Up until this point I supported Yingluo 100% and loved her character. People say it’s okay for Yingluo to be with Empress Fuca’s husband since she’s dead. I say whether or not Empress Fuca is dead, that was her husband. You don’t go after your mistress’s husband, like you don’t go after your sister’s husband. It’s unethical. And why do people think it’s okay for Yinglue to be with her mistress husband, especially after knowing how it pushed Empress Fuca over the edge after finding out how her other maid slept with the emperor. They’re both the empress’s maids but okay for one and not the other???? Why take revenge on Erqing for sleeping with the emperor and not on herself? And don’t even get me started on how later on she found out Consort Xian was behind everything but Yingluo was like, “okay let bygone be bygone”. Are you kidding me?
And it wasn’t after Empress Fuca’s death that the emperor began embracing thoughts of Yingluo. Even with Empress Fuca and hundreds of concubines who worship him like a god, it was not enough for that pig. He still lust after Yinglue and remember tried to rape her way before Empress Fuca died. Yingluo hated him and was so disgusted by him but for revenge, all the sudden he started looking good? Like what the heck?? Why the 180 degree? That’s why Wei Yingluo is a phony. For revenge, she can act like she’s in love with the most disgusted vile man. I just couldn’t stomach that and why I hated her so much. And revenge, why revenge? Empress Fuca didn’t want revenge but Yinglue being obsessed with it, disregarded the empress’s wishes and went for it on her own. So at the end when everyone’s so happy that they (emperor and Yingluo) love each other so much, I was like barf. Emperor loves her (but could still throw her away at any time ) because she’s not like all his other concubines who begs for his love on hand and foot. And because she’s his favorite toy, that means she’s the ultimate winner and he’s like some glorious prize to be won. Happy ending, the end. Barf…barf…and more barf.

Yingluo feel in love with Fu before the emperor married him off, she never acted on it because it seem like he was going to always be there for her is what he told her, she trusted that. When he married, she changed, he never did even in his marriage.

While Yingluo was committed to her revenge, it was achieved very early on and she herself said she wanted to serve the empress for the rest of her life. At first, she wanted to marry Fuheng but the emperor stopped that. Fuheng was the first to give in. Yingluo was prepared to die for her love for him. She even kneeled in a heavy snowstorm without winter clothes for hours because she refused to denounce her love for him. She only became a noble lady and gained favor with the emperor to protect Mingyu, who was slowly being killed by Noble Consort Chen, and discover the truth behind the death of the seventh prince. Even then, that was years later and when she had no choice if she wanted to save Mingyu. So, even then, she was sacrificing herself to bring justice for the empress while protecting Mingyu. She had no choice after that. She would forever be a wife to the emperor. That's why Mingyu was sad, because that meant that Yingluo could never go back, she could never leave the forbidden city. She also would never have a say. She couldn't just divorce the emperor. And if she showed any actual affection for Fuheng, he would have been killed while she would suffer in a cold palace, along with her most loyal servants. And that’s why Fuheng could only ask it of her in their next life.
