Considering their race as a whole I'm inclined to doubt that, even without the Khala they've basically spent their lives in each-others skulls, the experiences of an Ex High templar, Lore-Wise they fight as the whole of the protoss race. ^.^
"In the name of the many" is the key here because the ideal is that even if you are alone, you fight with others that also fight with you and understanding that is how artanis can fight on when while alone.
This scene has a lot of emotional weight. Artanis and Zeratul once activated the Xel'Naga Temple together in BroodWar. Now, Artanis stands alone, without Zeratul, in a desperate bid to overload that same temple. One might feel loneliness when confronted with the memory of this place. Artanis must be thinking of Zeratul in that moment of apparent despair. Separated from the Khala, from the mentor he killed with his own hands, facing overwhelming odds, his despair must be even deeper. As he is overwhelmed by the Zerg, Artanis remembers the words of his mentor, and understands that despite being isolated, there is great pride to be found in fighting in such a state... ''For our warrior hearts are bound by honor, and tradition. Battle is waged in the name of the many...The brave who generation after generation, choose the mantle of...Dark Templar!''
It also kinda has to do with the molding of Artanis as a character through the games. Remember at the start of brood war he was pretty much a cocky kid who Tassadar had seen potential in.
I agree Artanis is a badass by his own right, but seriously Zeratul set the stage with that monologue. Basically Artanis at that very moment when he erupted out of the dogpile had become a Dark Templar.
Zealots are young foot soldiers, all High Templar were once Zealots, they have different gear, instead of relying on the strength and speed of the young, they focus the enhanced psionic powers of the old. Like Adun and Tassadar before him, Artanis has achieved great things by seeking balance between light and dark and wielding them in unison. The third Twilight Templar.
And then they retcon Tassadar's sacrifice and make his character meaningless. And turn Kerrigan into a goodie two shoes sky fenix goddess of light and rainbow kitten energy.
@@bunnieskitties293 Actually I don't think they did retcon. Tassadar played incredibly important role. He destroyed Overmind, if it wasn't destroyed, Karrigan would never raise to be the leader, she would always be just an agent of Overmind and Amon would easily use them. The image we see in Zeratul's mission in WoL is one of the Xel'Naga, Ouros, who used Tassadar's likeness and connection to Zeratul to impart crucial knowledge.
@@bunnieskitties293 that was never a retcon, it was always the plan. Kerrigan was created for that purpose, to unchain the zerg and bring about the fall of Amon. That was the overminds plan from the start. Though i’ll agree that Xelnaga kerrigan was lame and the final mission was a waste.

I have never watched a cutscene. I may need to watch them all now because that was the coolest and most badass thing ever!!! Who wouldnt follow that dude?
1:37 Didn't know Artanis can use psi power to that extend. I thought Protoss Templar caste separate into brute force warrior (zealous like) and high Templar that focus more in psi energy.
High Templar can fight just as well as Zealots (if not, arguably better), it is specifically said that they too have Psi Blades (so pretty much instead of using psionics, Tassadar could just charge in battle and whoop Zerg ass if he wanted, as an example). It's just that they prefer to use psionics due to their experience in that domain.
I never thought Artanis was all that because I remember from Brood War. However SC2 put him up there if not better than Tassadar. Tassadar is a legend yes, but Artanis is more of a better leader. Unlike Tassadar he did not lead his men to their deaths.
That part where Artanis is being ripped apart by zerglings but then activates both psi blades is badass! Those poor zerglings got their brains demolished

It's over now. Starcraft is over. We will never again see its like or witness its splendour in its full majesty. All that remains are echoes of a golden past.
And yet... that is not all that it leaves behind.
It leaves behind a legacy. A legacy that will never be forgotten by those who experienced the great birth of professional gaming. Electronic sports. And though, in time, civilisation will cease to remember Starcraft, take heart in the fact that its legacy is, like the void, eternal so long as humanity continues to persist.
For none of us are ever truly alone.
Blizzard:Starcraft...it's gone, becoming one with the eternal archive of countless games, but the tradition we forged will always remain.
Tell me,carbot, how much do you know of our plot?
Carbot:Little.Your writers...closely guard their practice. Why do you speak of this?
Blizzard:A Blizzard employee will only become a true Blizzard employee through writing a plot. The initiate sit alone, the others suggests their ideas. If she endures, she become a programmer:True,Blizzard employee. You have write the plot already, carbot. You write alone against countless shitty ideas, animating for the many. You have perfected the zerglings already, you no longer have the vanilla version of Starcraft. You are, dank templar.
holy shit paul, you gave me goosebumps 2 years after you posted this. well done.
They say StarCraft 3 is on the way.Going to appear as a demo this year and making it's debut at 2020.But I only heard rumors.
@@Nor1998_ I'M NOT BELIEVING ANY RUMORS UNTIL THE ACTUAL RELEASE IS OUT
"GENERATION after GENERATION" gets me everytime
2:06 Beam me up, Scotty.
Pro level micro. He got at least 5 extra hits in thanks to animation cancelling.
En Taro Tassadar, En Taro Zeratul, En Taro Artanis.
En Taro tke 3 lost templar you mean
En Taro Alarak.
En Taro Fenix
greg lopaly artanis isn't lost
En Taro Adun
The only protoss who became a dark templar by performing the shadow walk and simultaneously blowing up the Dark templar homeworld like the Conclave secretly wanted in the first place.
Most epic cinematic in Starcraft II.. MY LIFE FOR AIURRRR !!!!!!!!!
Dude, "The firstborn shall fear you no longer" sends shivers down my spine everytime. I mean it. Everytime.
Cool guys don't look at explosions.
They blow things up and then warp away.
damn i was going to post that.
Until they get actually caught in it
Terrans walk away from explosions, while Artanis teleports while walking away from the explosion. Hell yeah
Yeah, kinda hard to walk away from a planetary explosion...
typical HotS match when his opponent doesn't have stuns.
Old level 20 artanis was just unkillable. triple strike/zealot charge/force of will. made him a fucking raid boss.
Now that his shields were nerfed, he is much more squishier, rip shieldtanis. But before you would’ve gone phase bulwark at 13 and shield surge at 16 for survivability.
Holy shit, I'v totally forgotten how cool cinematics starcraft had.
still getting goosebumps when i watch this even if ive completed all the campaigns 10 times
Now I understand why protoss have such fucking massive jawlines. All of them but Artanis especially are Proto Giga Chads
Good is good in the final hour- in the deepest pit. Without hope, without witness, without reward.
Artanis may not be as wise and powerful as Zeratul, but he sure as hell comes close. Don't forget that Zeratul, at the expense of his own life challenged the amon corrupted Artanis, yet still managed to sever his chords from Amon's control.
"Battle is waged in the name of the many..." For the Greater Good!
Heresy!!!
Hello my friend, very cleverly produced, good luck
en taro Zeratul, en taro Artanis
Legendary this piece of movie !!! Even in a thousend years this will still be awesome like hell !!! Hail --- Dark Templar !°°!°°!
En Arudin Shakuras!
+문상현 En Taro Artanis!
+문상현 My life for Aiur!
Adun Toridas.
En Taro Artanis!!
Entaro Tassidar, Entaro Asun and Entaro Fenix and Entaro Zeratul! ( i belive entaro is only reserved for warrior who died in battle you wouldnt say entaro artanis because he is alive)
2024 and i still come back to listen to zeratul'😊s speech
I am not so sure if anyone noticed it, but when Artanis was pinned down by the zerg, he did this explosion thing.
That, definitely, mirrors his 3rd skill. ^^
My favorite units from starcraft. Such a badass cinematic.
Who is watching this in 2018, and hope for Starcraft 3
There is a SC 3... I'm from 2021
No. The story is finished.
Ezy Teri Reddy just having hope for one Starcraft 3 can happen we never know.
You gotta love someone so badass they pull off the unflinching walk on an exploding planet, that they're still on.
Imagine a Game of Thrones production of the Starcraft story. It would be amazing.
Wish we got a starcraft movie before i die. Super unlikely, even the game isnt popular.
I dont think you would say the same after s08
This aged like milk.
I loved Artanis in SC1. I was so happy to see him rise to prominence in SC2 to become the absolute badass that he is in this cinematic right here!
1:48
“The brave, who generation after generation, are chosen for the mantle of… GREEN LANTERN”!
artanis is quoted as having said while being teleported: "f*ck these zerg in particular"
When your army is out on the map - zerg nidused your main and there is only one zealot/templar.
I just rewatch this cinematics just imagining how cool could be warcraft reforged...
🎵 Cool guys don't look at explosions 🎵
Also I just wanna say Artanis is the best lmao.
He started as a Zealot, then evolved into High Templar, then blinked in the last moment before the explosion as a Dark Templar. So badass.
He forgot his ‘deal with it’ glasses at the end
most intense scene from the entire title! This speech in the background while he fights give me chills, goosebumps, etc etc "GREEN LANTERN LIGHT" no just kidding, but really epic
I dont even know if i prefer zerg or terran tears. PROUD protoss race. Since i dont have a pc now i cant play and got a bit tired of the streams... but its a great game, super cool. Everything about protoss is pure swagg. Just epic
Man, Artanis is so Adorable.
Gonna replay that foocking campaign again
i wonder what archon comes out if 2 artanis merge together
Verdun Archonis
...God of archons?
High-dark archon i bet
Fenix
A xel-naga
He shattered this world in the name of his brethren. This is something one can aspire to.
Just imagine how strong this scene would be if Artanis eyes glow green in last moment.
Starcraft II - still one of the BEST games in our history!
This dude had plastic surgery after the brood war. Dude literally went from a 2 to a 7 by protoss standard.
Funny what being the protagonist can do for you! Lolol. From lanky naked space caveman to badass warrior in a gleaming suit of armour, all in four years...
I half expected his eyes to turn green like the Nerazim's when Zeratul said the ones who take up the mantle of Dark Templar
To get green eyes, you as Templar must draw the energy from the void, the home of Xel'naga.
If only members of the Twilight Council could witness this (I can only imagine Alarak’s reaction and, maybe, satisfaction).
I have never watched a cutscene. I may need to watch them all now because that was the coolest and most badass thing ever!!! Who wouldnt follow that dude?
Artanis is a freaking monster!
Zeratul: none of us are ever truly alone.....
Raynor: *NOOOO FENIX!!!!!!*
You know what guys? We need a movie series of their stories
Who's here after all these years and still watch it from time to time?
here, gotta remind myself to be as honorable as Artanis.
1:37 Didn't know Artanis can use psi power to that extend. I thought Protoss Templar caste separate into brute force warrior (zealous like) and high Templar that focus more in psi energy.
Actually Templars are pretty good fighters but they prefer to use their psi abilities instead of go toe to toe with their enemy like a zealot does
High Templar can fight just as well as Zealots (if not, arguably better), it is specifically said that they too have Psi Blades (so pretty much instead of using psionics, Tassadar could just charge in battle and whoop Zerg ass if he wanted, as an example). It's just that they prefer to use psionics due to their experience in that domain.
Man I love Artannis. He was my main in HOTS, almost unkillable at full level with the right build.
I never thought Artanis was all that because I remember from Brood War. However SC2 put him up there if not better than Tassadar. Tassadar is a legend yes, but Artanis is more of a better leader. Unlike Tassadar he did not lead his men to their deaths.
Let's face it, this isn't your first time here.
Edit: also, 2020 anyone?
Dat timely recall.
That part where Artanis is being ripped apart by zerglings but then activates both psi blades is badass! Those poor zerglings got their brains demolished
