    I bought one. Use it on my 1997 MBenz E320, it showed me the misfire problem with the car which I quickly fix the problem by replacing the ignition coil, spark plugs, and spark plug cable. The device quickly paid for itself by repairing it myself other than paying big money the automotive shop or dealer. Good invention.

    I watched your video on Friday, ordered the fixd on Friday. It’s Monday now, did the one day delivery, tried it on my Mercedes no problem there, which I already knew. My neighbors car has the engine light on, so we tried it there, he said it was time to change the spark plugs. Fixd said something similar. He changed them and fixd showed no problems.

    Whenever I used to take my car in for routine servicing, they would recommend more work. After buying the FIXD, I took my '05 Toyota Avalon in for an oil change and told them that my OBD scanner (FIXD) showed "no issues". They did the oil change and made no further "recommendations"!

    I bought FIXD about two years ago when I had a Honda Civic with over 100,000 miles on it that was not running smoothly. The sensor showed two cylinders misfiring, 31, and #3 I told my mechanic, and he was surprised I knew exactly what the problem was.

      Oh, so what was the exact problem that you figured out just by scanning your car for codes? I'm assuming you had a P0301 and P0303. Did you tell your technician it's a spark plug, ignition coil, fuel injector or just have him replace it all. Hmmm now it's fixed. Shotgun diagnostics. Pray and Spray!

    • @jamiej14544
      @jamiej14544 4 года назад +1

      I told my mechanic that I got a "check engine" light and that FIXD told me that two cylinders, 1 and 3 were misfiring. They were surprised that I knew what the problem was. They made some changes in the spark plugs and wiring and the problem was fixed. They knew that I was not "in the dark" about the reason for the check engine light and that I would not have accepted a proposal for work beyond what was diagnosed by my FIXD OBD scanner. Knowledge is power!

    I think the reason it asks milage or VIN number is because of the year model. It would need milage for the early ones and just VIN to put itself in the correct "frame of mind".

    They work. Used mine to diagnose 4 different cars. Shuts off the check engine light that pops on for emissions. Only caught one actual problem, an oxygen sensor.
    I used to just put tape over the light.
    On that second car... you need new wires and plugs.

    Excellent review, even in moments where you weren't fully prepared for the next steps there was no pointless filler content like most so called "reviews" these days (which tend moreso to be people making videos about themselves with the product as an afterthought), it was very informative and additionally lacked, as others have mentioned, that feeling many "reviewers" these days give off that makes you feel like you're just watching a damned infomercial designed by the producers of the product.

    The service engine light on my Toyota is just a light that comes on every 5000 miles to remind you to get the regular service done. (oil change etc) I'm betting that's why it wanted the mileage after it turned off the service engine light.

    I am a bit confused. If there is an issue with the timing, or some form of advance on the timing at higher rpms, why will the light check engine light turn off? All that seemed that all that was done here was to mask the problem. Clearly the issue will still remain. Would there not also be some form of recommendation on what needs to be fixed?

    • @sheltondailey8770
      @sheltondailey8770 4 года назад +1

      Bill Dux yes and does have recommendations. The check engine light will always turn off when you clear the codes and do nothing. After you drive it for some time it will come back on just like the fancy ones.

    It only does the check engine, not all lights on the dash. As an example I have an 09 Nissan Xterra with an abs, slip and vdc off. I know it's an abs sensor just not which one. Contacted support and they said those are manufacturer specific and they don't have the rights to that.

That was helpful. Knowing me it may blow up. I normally don't sit in and listen that long but good job. Oh ! Thanks for closing the door to stop the beep beep. Lol

  • @terrimartinez6547

    My mechanic can't figure out what the noise is that my car is making and can't figure out why it keeps draining my battery. Told me the repair will likely cost over $2,000 because he thinks it's the timing chain. Or it may just need a whole new engine which he thinks could be less expensive. He replaced a big fuse that blew...cost me $131. Now, I'm thinking I just need to get a newer used car instead of sinking any more money into this one not knowing what's really going on. I'm getting ready to buy a fixd device to test it and may possibly use it to find a more reliable used car to purchase...Genius invention!

  • @aland1618

    It's a basic code reader that can't do live data and none of the videos I've seen for FixD show non engine code data. A proper code reader should be able to diagnose an ABS system with live signal data and also show BCM data as well. Some computer codes do not cause a check engine light.

    What Can Fixd Diagnose?
    Fixd is a useful tool, but it can't diagnose everything. The general rule is that if a problem causes your "check engine" light to turn on, then Fixd can tell you why the light turned on and what type of repair you might need.
    Diagnosing a car is a whole lot more complicated than just reading trouble codes, and one code can be caused my multiple different problems. So even though Fixd can give you an idea of how to fix your problem, and even help you buy the replacement parts you need, complicated issues may still require the assistance of a professional mechanic.

  • @brandonhall3591
    @brandonhall3591 5 лет назад +3

    The whole point of this is to see what is wrong with the car am I right? Because it won't solve the problem it would just inform you what it is wrong so you don't get scammed in the auto body shop

    So what is the disadvantage of clear the engine light. I means if you remove the check engine light , the problem is still there.

    • @Pr0fessorScience
      @Pr0fessorScience 4 года назад

      Sometimes the check engine light doesn't go away after the problem has been fixed and the mechanic has to manually reset it. So Fixd lets you reset the check engine light manually, too - it wouldn't be a very helpful product if it helped you repair all your vehicle's issues yourself and then you still had to take it to a mechanic just to get the check engine light reset. If someone is dumb enough to reset the check engine light without actually fixing the problem that made the check engine light go off in the first place, that's on them.

    Information it asks so I’m finding out depend on vehicles you are driving what you need to enter.This is to further monitor your notices of upcoming . For the 30.00yr you get every updated feature they have plus a fully licensed mechanics to talk to 24/7. It does store all of the errors.I have the problem you have with yours. I have a VW CC turbo which are slim to find and mechanics around. The auto stores were telling me things. 3rd cylinder,replaced it all. Still problems. I spent money for all new plugs, cylinder repairs and parts. Yes dealerships could have scanned but right now with the no work orders we couldn’t afford the 185.00 scan. Plus it’s 20 miles from my house, couldn’t get it there.Mine was EPC with engine light, would run in a limp mode shutting down engine. My car throws a code they can’t even find. Being female and able to fix my other trucks and cars were nice but I don’t want to be taken advantage of. This allows me to find a shop, manufacturer part stores,cost should be,location of garages by me,the right code and so many upgrades to use with both vehicles. Now I can walk into shop show my app and error codes and get only those fixed not you need an air filter that will be 45.00 to install lol. For the 60.00 price n for me reassuring of 30.00 yr it will have paid more than half of shop diagnostic plus some. I know their are doubters and that’s okay. Videos show products and people are helped or hindered in their opinions. I appreciate the time you took to make. I have been watching so many in past week but appreciated how you showed both. Oh btw mine was a throttle sensor. 80.00.

      EXACTLY. Say it throws an O2 Sensor code.... most people would replace that. But the O2 Sensor might be fine with a vacuum leak causing fuel trims to go off. That would throw off a perfectly fine O2 sensor that didn't need replacing at all.

In other words, I have a few cars and only wish to use it only when an issue arises. From what it said about your KIA, open circuit on the injector means the electrical signal to control it is not connected, likely the sole cause of the Misfire condition. What did you find ? Very good reviews so far. One thing you may want to mention is whether or not the FIXD. Will remove a code from your computer. And give a false reading to a mechanic who is following up your vehicle. This would be the same as if you had a child with a fever, you give the child an aspirin which will reduce temperature then you take a child to the doctor and the child no longer has a fever. I E. does it lose the codes?

      the normal mileage about 200 miles, but any auto shop with a state mandated OBD computer can tell the codes were cleared so it won't pass inspection. FIXD is designed to tell you whats wrong with the vehicle. The option to clear the engine light is for simple things like faulty gas caps, oxygen sensors, so when you (GOD FOR BID) fix it your self you can clear the light and see if it comes back on with time. It's only used as a trouble shooting aspect of the software.

    You could just buy an obd11 reader which costs around £15 probably $18 then use the net for what the codes mean or most readers come with a decoding sheet.

    so it gives you the codes but doesnt tell you exactly what wrong with it? like it doesnt say "spark plugs need changing" or something?

    You need to fix cylinder 3 misfire, as this can wreck your catalytic converter. Most times this is a bad spark coil on that cylinder. Spark coil - not that expensive or hard to replace. Catalytic converter - expensive.

    • @da324
      @da324 4 года назад +1

      Catalytic Converter lights come on when it's only about 15% clogged (feed the shops). You can add lacquer thinner to gas and it will clear the CC out in about 75-100 miles and the light will go out. They are expensive to replace, and many times a mechanic will tell you it needs replacing, when it just needs to be cleaned out.

    All this does is scan codes, to give people an idea of what system is faulty in a car. Any professional mechanic does not just only scan codes to diagnose a problem. They use the codes to narrow down where they need to test the car. Then they perform the actual diagnosis, which involves using a shop labscope, and manual labor testing on various areas of the vehicle dependent on the code(s). People hear the word "diagnostic" and they think a tool like this which is only a D.T.C. (aka, dummy lights) scanner will tell them exactly what to do and how to fix it. If you know how perform those diagnosis tests and you want something relatively cheap to scan codes preliminary to the actual diagnosis tests. Then this is what someone could buy. If you think this product will tell you what to fix or replace, and if thats what want, then don't waste money on this. Just go to Autozone and have them scan it so you can know what code it is. Also, don't take the associates/workers word on what to replace because they just want to sell you parts. Have someone do the diagnosis or if you how & know what to test then do it yourself. About 90% of time a D.T.C. (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) will not tell you what to replace or what to fix. How do I know, my father is an actual ASE Certified Automotive Technician and Mechanic and has been teaching me extensively about cars. Just trying to inform and tell the truth.
    P.S.
    This guys EGR Code has nothing to do with the "engine knocking at high RPM'S" lol😂 I think thats what it said the consequeces of it is.
    It has to do with his "Exhaust Gas Recirculation" System in that Pontiac Montana. Something in that system is failing or faulty. Which again someone needs to diagnose that system to find what is faulty or failing. The actual consequences of that code is poorer gas mileage and possible failure on an emissions test.
