I couple things I would like to see added to a later model: 1) Program the number of rounds able to be fired before having to drop the mag and reload 2) A setting to enable a malfunction after a random number of shots forcing the user to mitigate 3) Pairing with Bluetooth speaker for realistic sound effects, with option for suppressor I imagine this should work with the laser academy system. I have the black beard on it's way and would like to buy the laser academy system for pistol very soon

You don't need recoil to train the mechanics. Check out T-Rex arms video on air rifle training. Short of firing blanks I can't think of anything that would simulate recoil. Think about it. Even CO2 dry fire units can't do that. You are literally shooting a tiny cannon every time you fire off cartridge
Does the bolt carrier unit count how many times you fired? For example will it stop firing after a certain amount of rounds? Like in order to simulate an empty magazine?
No, Blackbeard is separate from the Laser Academy app. There is a free version of Laser Academy you can try available in the app store, and additional paid drills are available in the app if you want to upgrade your training. Both the red and green laser options for Blackbeard will work with Laser Academy.
Yes it works with the folder. You just don’t need to add the bolt extension as the Blackbeard doesn’t cycle or need to come in contact with the buffer in any way.
Buy all the gucci parts you want, if you don't practice with it you're just wasting money. You can burn $200 of ammo in an hour, especially these days. Laser trainers mean you can sit on the couch and practice your fancy trigger while watching TV, no ammo cost at all.

Your first suggestion was exactly what came to mind when I saw this demo. Needs to have some kind of mag counter for drop and reload training.

As long as your rifle uses a standard AR15 BCG and accepts standard mags, you're good to go!
