From one son of a Vietnam vet to another, I tip my cap to you for making a dedicated beer to the Vets. I thank your dad for his service and being such a cool a person!
This was such a great video. Having lost my dad in July, he also was a Vietnam Veteran. I never really knew much about what he went through because he never talked about it. It was only after his passing that I learned so much more about an already great person. Thank you to all the Vets out there and I know when my dad got to the pearly gates, they said "Welcome Home".
Chalk this up to thr first beer video that brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for your service Papa Gino! Thank you for sharing your Father's journey, and looking forward to more videos now that summer is here! Cheers!!
Awesome video. During my military career anytime we returned from a deployment, there was always a group of Vietnam Vets welcoming us home. They didn't want any soldiers to feel unwanted. To be treated they way they were when they came home.
The Honor Flight is the best thing to do for our veterans. I live in DC and my grandfather came on his and i surprised him with his 2 grandchildren at the memorial.
Props to your dad for serving! He & others like him made it safe for the younger generations to enjoy our liberties today. I'm a Gen X-er just getting into homebrewing & thoroughly enjoy your channel. Don't hold it against me, but I support a different AL team (go Jays!)
Tell Papa Gino welcome home!! Seems like a hell of a guy and it is so awesome you made this beer for him. Thanks for being an awesome dude and doing stuff like this!
Nice video to honor your dad and all veterans. My dad was a WW11 veteran ( Purple Heart recipient). Wish I could have a cold beer with him now. Cheers to all veterans. 🍻
GOD BLESS OUR VETS !!!!! for Your Dad and my Dad, WW2 USS DENVER CL-58 (43'-46') and My Brother John : Vietnam (67'-69') Cheers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lest we Forget
Always excited to see your videos posted! A local brewery by me made a mexican lager with motueka and I definitely got that lime character. Awesome video!
That sounds really good. I may have to do a Mexican Lager with some flaked corn and Motueka. I just started fermenting a Kolsch with some Mandarina Bavaria at flameout - kind of a similar strategy of getting some citrus into a pale beer!
Cheers to your dad and thanks for his service (my Dad is also a Vietnam Vet) And coincidentally I just brewed a golden ale with motueka hops. My recipe was very similar to yours, I just fermented with an ale yeast. Was my first time using motueka hops and that lime flavor really does come through!
Each time I see you brew you mention distilled water, but some of the 5 gallon jugs say primo water. Is your primo water distilled or the primo filtered purified water? Thanks for the answer as I'd like to use brewing salts while using primo water
I get my water delivered from Sparkletts/Alhambra (it’s like the Culligan man). I get both RO and distilled. We drink the RO water and I brew with the distilled. The only difference in bottles is the label on top that says either RO or distilled.
I have some saaz on hand and I don't have motueka but I'd like to try this I bet saaz in the middle of the boil and late as well would probably be a very nice combination with the motueka
I really enjoy Mecca Grade! I feel like it just gives a richer grain character to beers. I’d really like to brew some side by sides with other craft and non craft malts…hmmm next video idea!!! Cheers 🍻
Do you know of a company that I can order online for brewing ingredients without $8 shipping? I wanted to try making a Bohemian pilsner but it's super expensive. Northern Brewer is crazy outrageous. Something like $35 for just the basemalt and $8 for shipping
Northern Brewer has free shipping if you spend over $49. I also order from MoreBeer and they do free shipping over $59. Although sometimes 50lb bags of grain don’t qualify for free shipping because of size and weight. But both companies sell in smaller portions than 50lbs for most grains. If you’ve got a Homebrew store close it might make sense to get grains from them. My “local” Homebrew store is a 50 minute drive each way so I usually just order online but for things like large bags of grain or liquid yeast in the summer sometimes it just makes more sense to make the drive up there. Cheers 🍻
True, true 🤣 I always thought NZ Pils was a little on the hoppier side too. Either way, it’s very drinkable and almost everybody that’s tried it likes it, it may be a constant on tap here!
@@ElementaryBrewingCo they vary quite a bit. I enjoy Riwaka as a finishing hop myself, but Motueka is pretty tasty too. But always good to see brew content!
Thank you for your service Papa Gino!
Thanks for your service Sir and all the other veterans 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸great looking beer
Thank God for men like your father. Without them we are nothing.
For sure Curt, cheers!!!
Honor Flight is a great program. Thank you for showcasing it and paying homage to your dad and all Veterans! Thank you
This is the BEST. Awesome all around. Tom from NJ.
From one son of a Vietnam vet to another, I tip my cap to you for making a dedicated beer to the Vets. I thank your dad for his service and being such a cool a person!
This is so cool. Thank you for your service. Your friendly gardener Kevin
Hey that was Fresno Yosemite airport! Great for your dad to get to do that, beer looks good too.
That was The Fresno airport!! Thanks for watching
Thank you for serving Papa.

Awesome video. During my military career anytime we returned from a deployment, there was always a group of Vietnam Vets welcoming us home. They didn't want any soldiers to feel unwanted. To be treated they way they were when they came home.
Thank you for your service! He didn’t even really start telling people he was in Vietnam until like 15 years ago. Sad they were treated so poorly.
Jesus man, right in the feels in the first 2 or 3 minutes. The dust from your grain really got in my eyes there.
The Honor Flight is the best thing to do for our veterans. I live in DC and my grandfather came on his and i surprised him with his 2 grandchildren at the memorial.
How awesome!!! I bet he was super excited!!!

Thanks for watching!!! Aww no worries Jays are fun to watch! Surprised they didn’t go farther this year they’ve got some studs!!
Tell Papa Gino welcome home!! Seems like a hell of a guy and it is so awesome you made this beer for him. Thanks for being an awesome dude and doing stuff like this!
I will tell him, it means a lot to him to hear that! Cheers Steve 🍻!
This was so great! Awesome to see your dad join in on one of your videos like this. Beer also sounds very crushable. Cheers!
Thanks Matt, cheers 🍻
You're lucky man, I wish I could still brew beer for my dad who passed away 7 years ago 🍻🍻
Sorry for your loss, I am lucky for sure cheers 🍻
Whew! Glad you're back. This beer sounds like my next brewday.
Definitely a good beer for warmer weather! Although I usually keep something like this on tap year round 🍻
And he's back! Fantastic idea for a beer
It’s been too long!!! Thanks for watching!
What a cool dude!
Nice video to honor your dad and all veterans. My dad was a WW11 veteran ( Purple Heart recipient). Wish I could have a cold beer with him now. Cheers to all veterans. 🍻
Cheers to you and your dad! There were a couple of Korean War vets on his flight but sadly no WWII vets on this flight.

Amen brother!!! Cheers 🍻
Cheers to Papa Gino! Thank you for your service! Very nice tribute beer! Well done!
Thanks!
I loved this. Thanks for brewing and thanks for sharing.
Great Beer for an even better cause! Thanks for sharing this with us. Cheers to all the Vets and especially Papa Gino 🍻
Thank you, for your service, popa Gino!
Great video, brotha!
Thanks for watching!
Always excited to see your videos posted! A local brewery by me made a mexican lager with motueka and I definitely got that lime character. Awesome video!
Thanks! I’m definitely getting a nice hop flavor from this, really enjoying it!
What a great video with a great story! I love Motueka, great lime flavor, pairs well with Sorachi Ace.
Thanks! And I’ll have to give sorachi ace a try too!
Great video.. My father is also a USMC Vietnam vet. God bless all the vets🇺🇸cheers to Homebrewing
Make sure you tell your dad welcome home for me! Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for your service Papa Gino! I have to give motueka a try sometime.
That was so heartwarming to watch
Thanks! Now if I can only be consistent like you with my uploads 🤣 Cheers 🍻
@@ElementaryBrewingCo you got this!
Thanks for your service Papa Gino!!
Best thing i ever put in was a block and tackle for my grain basket
A great show.
Salute to your dad!
Great video, great to see your Dad enjoy the beer. I've been using motueka in mexican style beers lately, it's a great combination.
Thanks! It really is an interesting hop, I’m really enjoying it!

Thanks! A golden ale sounds great too! Maybe next time I’ll brew up a split batch and make one a lager and the other an ale. What yeast did you use?
@@ElementaryBrewingCo A split batch taste comparison would be a great idea! For my ale yeast I just used good 'ol US-05.
I will have to make this in honor of my grandpa. He turned 98 this month. Enlisted when he was 17 and got thrown straight into WWII.
Dang!!! Tell him thanks for his service!!!
Cheers to Papa Gino!!

I love noble hops as well! I think Saaz would be great in a beer like this too!
You lost Papa Gino at 'Motueka'! Great video as usual mate
🤣🤣
I'm finally going to make this beer. How many ounces of motueka did you use? Somehow I cant quite catch it in the video
.4oz Warrior 60min
.5oz Motueka 10min
1oz Motueka 5min
Are you using a claw hammer 10 gallon basket in your kettle? What size kettle do you use?
I have a 15 gallon kettle and use the Clawhammer 10 gallon basket.
Nice video
What do you think of the mecca grade pelton? Worth the extra cost? What do you feel it offers taste wise?
I really enjoy Mecca Grade! I feel like it just gives a richer grain character to beers. I’d really like to brew some side by sides with other craft and non craft malts…hmmm next video idea!!! Cheers 🍻

Well.. to be fair.
You made it as an American pilsner,
But it fits the NZ Pilsner style guideline.
At least you pronounced Motueka better than many :)
