This was a clear example of the importance of keeping a low profile in CEDH. Yes, it was a Thoracle win, but it was well-timed and strategically placed. Those kinds of threats from out of nowhere are what keep the format exciting and force players, even those far ahead, to think critically and assess all risks.
Why cal doesn’t counter the sevinne’s reclaimation. He’s already full of counter spell (pact of negation, muddle the mixture mana drain) it’s surely that zack was trying to win by reanimating ranger of eros which is a tutor + slience effect
Recently started building Kinnan. I bought an etched foil of Thrasios at my LGS, the colours are super beautiful on that card I find. Anyway great game, love seeing Rashmi in action. She was one of my first commanders.
Kinnan is SOOO great! I play him (with 14 proxies; money is hard to come by) at college with my other cEDH friend and… things get wild REALLY quickly. And yes, Etched Thrasios is GORGEOUS.
Where did Mike get the crop rotation from? Following what you said was in his opening hand and then following his plays, it was impossible for crop rotation to be there.
I think they got his opening hand wrong, because you're right, he would have had to top deck the birds and then top deck the wild growth leaving no room for the crop rotation to be drawn
Cals first nexus was on the end of ryans turn, so he went again twice, then couldnt do it anymore, so it was passed back to where the turn was originally going to, which was zack.
A well played game by all. I really though Cal was going to get there, but spending all that interaction to help force the Nexus probably didn't feel great in hindsight. Definitely love seeing SevRec help pull a win through!
Can you deflecting swat to a non-legal target? meaning, the Ewit trigger is for a card in "your" graveyard, meaning it should return a card from the controller's graveyard to its controller's hand - as opposed to "return target card from a graveyard to its owner's hand." Just curious..."Judge!"
From the rules: "115.7a If an effect allows a player to “change the target(s)” of a spell or ability, each target can be changed only to another legal target. If a target can’t be changed to another legal target, the original target is unchanged, even if the original target is itself illegal by then. If all the targets aren’t changed to other legal targets, none of them are changed."
Isn't there a misplay @ 8:42 when Derevi enters? We all do it like that, but technically you can't tap for mana unless it's to pay for something or the stack is empty. Gaea's needed to be tapped beforehand, right?
you can totally tap a land in response to an ability ? tapping a land for mana can totally be done at instant speed, even when it is not to pay for a cost/spell
@@mathistaton4052 Yeah, you are right. As long as you have priority you can tap for mana. Now I can't even remember what odd rule I confused this with.
@@MummiPazuzu You were probably thinking of the odd times when you can activate mana abilities without having priority: namely, whenever you have to pay any cost that includes mana. (If anyone ever wondered why Lion's Eye Diamond says "Activate only as an instant", this is why: if it didn't, you'd be able to announce a spell (from your hand) and sacrifice LED to pay for it and cast it.)
I would like to see a pod with no black in it. It would be fun to see a deck won without thoracle/tainted or consult. The game was super interesting with rashmi and thrastarl, and then the Tymna deck just wins. 😤
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG I completely understand that and I get the point of Cedh is to win as fast as possible. I just remember a while back you guys said you were going to try to cut back on the thoracle wins
Hey! Cal here! Would love to hear more about what makes my version of Rashmi bad & what my misplays were in the first couple of turns. Constructive criticism is also welcome. Didn't make my own counterspell fizzle, I took the opportunity to crack my Hermit while an opponent still had a noncreature spell on the stack. In hindsight, yes, it could have been used to counter Zack's Consultation, but I was focused on protecting my own potential win on my turn since I thought I could make it. Thanks!
Good game, sad to see creativity levels are going down. Third video in a row with a thoracle win. Not really exciting, specially after like 3 months of amazing games with different wincons.
Watching Higher on IHYD was so impressive. I don’t remember seeing him last season since he was new, hopefully he’s able to do a few games this season
He'll definitely be in some games on the channel!

@Corey Inokuchi If you can’t take a moment to appreciate Zach’s play rather than complain, why do you even support this channel?
@@abrahamdrinkin2534 Agreed. I don't like Thoracle either but I can appreciate tight play that results in sneaking it through when shields are down.
@Corey Inokuchi It's about the journey to the win not just the win itself.
Agreed. Well timed and well played 👍
SPOILERS :(
It’s so cool watching the players play on the stack even though I dont totally understand what’s going on 😃
you should see a game with krark sakashima in it :)
@@swampyswamperton6536 I actually watched a podcast video of a dude explaining the deck. Very interesting but I was still quite mind blown
As someone who plays Birgi in cEDH I love to see the deck get represented.

Yeah, that seemed like bad threat assessment there. We had just seen him draw a Pact of Negation, so we know he could've stopped it.

My head hurts lol..was a great game to watch ,the counter war, that's slot of damage..that was a nice win..need more like it lol..
I saw Ryan with the jeweled lotus and was cheering for that turn one just for him to pass xD
Fun game! Love seeing Thrasios Bruse, deck can get out of hand fast

Why does Cal pass to Zack instead of Ryan at 12:36? I didn't see ryan get eliminated, did I miss it?
Cals first nexus was on the end of ryans turn, so he went again twice, then couldnt do it anymore, so it was passed back to where the turn was originally going to, which was zack.
That Birgi deck looks soooo sick
dang was really hoping to see birgi storm off shes one of my favorite commanders
Loving the Tier1Con mats
Nothing is more satisfying than hitting land after land off Thrasios!
I've considered playing Tireless Provisioner in my deck just for such occasions.
What's the wincon in the Rashmi deck? Thoracle/jace empty library through mind lash or paradigm shift right? Anything else i miss?
A well played game by all. I really though Cal was going to get there, but spending all that interaction to help force the Nexus probably didn't feel great in hindsight. Definitely love seeing SevRec help pull a win through!
That opposition agent was on break I guess lol
Holy crap those mats are gorgeous
Just realized birgi has a turn one win. Neat
How do I get those awesome playmats? Also love the content! So easy and fun to watch please keep it coming!
What a grindfest
Very nice game!! Fabulous. Love Blue Farm
At 4:19 it was Chromatic Sphere, not Chromatic Star.
YES BIRGI FINALLY I FEEL LIKE NO ONE APPRECIATES HER
Well she is good buuut she has such huge problems
More like, Cal...Call the judge, lol I jest. Great game !
sorry I don't understand, why birgi didn't run those 1 mana cards at turn 1?
Nice playmats. Where did you get them? I love that red one. (Mox ruby?)
They were given to people who participated in the Tier1Con cEDH event last year! :)
All that for another Thoracle win :( Very nice game outside of this. Poor Ryan XD
Where can I get those mats?

No one found a way to cook the fish? Nice win
Another thoracle win 🥱🥱🥱.
Another thoracle comment 🥱🥱🥱
It’s like people don’t know this is cEDH where the point is to win as efficient as possible
I see Rashmi. I click
как неожиданно. очередная победа торакла
Nice game!
every jorts player should be allowed to go first every game!
Game without Tymna Kraum is no game at all
Awesome

Leaving 420 likes alone or supporting the channel? 😅
Birgi whiffed.
Damn I have to slow this down
Noice
dope game, lame ending but hey hopefully thassa’s oracle gets the ban hammer soon
Only one game with Rashmi?
Good game
Great game, least satisfying win
@zack pls help me with my yuriko deck
Thoracle, the most annoying card in cedh, strikes once more while no was looking.
what a great interactive game, fell asleep at the end though
It’s a fun game to watch until Thoracle came down!
thassas oracle wins are boooooooooring
Yet another thoracle win
Still waiting for WOTC to ban it since it consistently wins games.
The whole philosophy of cedh is to win in the most efficient and quickest way possible. Until oracle gets the pink slip, that's the reality.
I’ve got bad news for you. Thoracle isn’t going away from CEDH any time soon
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG I completely understand that and I get the point of Cedh is to win as fast as possible. I just remember a while back you guys said you were going to try to cut back on the thoracle wins
@@wolfxanti Yep. That was way back last year. Sometimes thoracle wins just end up getting grouped together.
Wow thats a bad version of Rashmi and a ton of misplays in the first couple turns. Wow.
Is there a reason Cal made his own counterspell fizzle? Seems like that cost him the game.
He probably wanted to cast the backside of hermit

Was an amazing game, untill i saw the tassa Oracle on the stack, its like a plague lol (jk, i knew that Oracle would appear)
