As a retired videographer it’s fun to see all the tools you guys have today. You do a great job of demonstrating how to best use each tool. Your video took a lot of time and effort, plus your creative skills. Look forward to your next video.
I’ve had the wiral lite system for a number of years and have never tried it on an angle. I’m glad to see that it works! Same with the payload- I would have thought that the addition of the gimbal would make it too heavy. Excellent work!
This is probably one of the best videos I have seen on solo videography and a great piece of gear. I hope I'll be able one day to come near your level of video making. Keep the great videos coming 💯
This is so so cool!! Genius!! I love how smooth it goes along the rope and Steve you nailed this always!! The creativity is on another level and you never fail to impress me with the final video edits!! I think this is perfect for solo creators! I would never think this was filmed solo. Keep it up! Greetings from Mauritius 🇲🇺
The more I use this zip line, the more I love it! Shooting an entire sequence with it is probably a little excessive, but adding a few of these shots into a more traditional sequence would really help it stand out. Solo filmmaking has never been more fun! 😊
You don't have to do knots in the line at all. If you look at the manual it shows you have to use the cord winder to lock off the desired amount of line length and then use the attachment strap as the tensioner thus avoiding the "weird knots" which would damage the line in the first place. You can also set virtual stop point really easily with the Wiral Lite remote. As well as this there are two physical stopper which you add to the line before the either end. You mount these stoppers at either end and then about a meter before them you create virtual stoppers. This prevents camera damage and well worth actually setting up prior to using the Wiral Lite!
INVISIBLE MARKETING! This is how to craft a straightforward, to-the-point, engaging, authentic, and genuinely enthusiastic pitch that truly sells your product(s)! If only those boring, disingenuous TV ads infesting MSM would take note...
Brilliant. It’s those types of features we forget about or didn’t know existed. That double click on file explorer on taskbar is a game changer for me.
I’m also thinking that if you’re not in an area with all those trees around, two poles with sandbags on them would do just as well for shots in an open space. thanks for sharing. This is great!
I use a 360 camera with it all the time. It works very well. I have used it to record decoy work with military dogs. Its the only way to track a dog into the attack zone without becoming an interest to the dog itself.
I have the Wiral lite. You use the winder to help tighten the line. The instructions show you how to to do this. You don't have to tie it off like you are. When you crashed it at the end, tells me you never set start and end stop points. Great video. Cheers
Really great tool for a reasonable price. Thank you for showing and giving us a couple of nice use cases. The only thing that I wouldn't do most of the time is flipping the shot. It is not only a text on your clothes or in the scene that can tell the viewer that something is wrong. But maybe it's not a big deal nowadays, when people use their smartphones for selfies without flipping back to normal... :)
Cheers really interesting ideas, I've one of these I've not used in ages and now have the osmo 6 pro gimbal as well, so great idea to use those together.
Steve , thank you for this excellent video with some fantastic tips and tricks. I bought the Wiral Zip Line on a crowd funder (2017 with a delivery in 2019 I think). I've never really used it! I'm going to find and get it dusted off right now!
Nice video. You could use the stoppers, so the viral will not crash :) and I like to create a bounce back and forth in a dedicated speed, so I have my hands free while filming
The shots looks great Steve, a great alternative to a cheap drone. (although the new DJI Neo is ridiculous cheap) Always a pleasure watching your uploads. Thanks for sharing. 🙂 Thomas
I have drones and I have the Wiral, try flying a drone between tree limbs, with the Wiral I can safely do this. Drones and forests don't play well together.
Sir, I am Dr Parmar from Mumbai,India I have been watching your videos for a long time and learning online video creation. I like your tips and tricks and trying them in my videos to improve production values. Thanks❤
I bought one of these off the kickstarter. I use it about twice a year. It is always fun and my friends always want to hook their camera on it. I wish I could figure out how to put the anchors where ever I wanted them. I have tried a few things but the rope needs to be kind of tight so solid anchors are a must. The strap does a great job of getting the correct tension. I am open to ideas. I don't want to bolt into rock just for one shot. Maybe some sort of mast with guy wires?
A darker green/brown line or something a bit less conspicuous and it would be a challenge to think it wasn't drone footage. Awesome idea - there's been a number of pull dollies (rope/pullies) but the motorized feature is great. Insta360 footage would be amazing.
Hi Mate! I'm watching your videos from Fiji 🇫🇯. I really love ❤️ the cinematic sequence at the end of the video and it was great 👍 like straight out of Hollywood movie. I am looking for this Wiral Lite too for my sequence too. I have learnt alot of things from you. Thank you for your best content. Please do keep making more this kind of videos, because it's helpful. Love from Fiji 🇫🇯.
Excellent video production but have question: At aprox. the same price, would't be easier to setup and faster with a drone? Plus can shoot really anywhere as oposed to the string. Just wondering...thx & congrats!
Brilliant. All it needs is a programmable start and stop point. Then you can just hit "go" and you don't need to hold the remote in your hand. Because I can see the remote, and it makes it impossible to do with or hold something in your hands.
great video steve love that zipline idea not sure how it would work for my videos in abandoned buildings and stuff but might be worth a shot. i also watched your dji neo video the other day and im buying myself one as that is perfect for my videos

man this sequence is the best commercial for zip line
That was epic! You made a simple hike in the woods seem like an adventure. Loved it.
Just finished the video. Of course it looks like an entire crew did this. They always do. You are a wizard.
I have used this system with a Insta360 camera for football matches. I noticed the unit a couple years back. Well done

Great idea for new shots with zip line and as usual perfect editing. Super movie! 👏🏻👍🏻
The final was awesome. Great job, and thanks for sharing
I love the video
This was Hollywood level videography with low budget set-up 🎉❤❤
Brilliant. WoW. That's some cinema scene all by yourself. Love it
Shooting higher and lower angles to get more shots is brilliant, looks like 3 cameras in one.

Have been following you for quite long and learned lot of filmmaking stuff from you, thank you.
Thank you Steve for all this useful information for all of us 👍❤
Very inspirational and a dedicated effort. To answer your question... That sequence could be the intro to a Bourne series it was sensational.
Wow, thank you!🙏
Next level film making. Great ideas amazing shot. Cannot believe the end result
What a brilliant video, one of the best and most interesting I’ve watched on RUclips in a while

Great idea and tutorial!
A little question: Is there a way to remove the rope from the scene?
Great question! There are several ways to keep the rope out of your shot. The easiest and simplest is to angle the camera so the rope isn’t visible. The wider your focal length, the more likely the rope will be in the shot. If your camera is pointed directly at the rope, it’s more likely to show, but if you angle the camera to the left or right, it’s less likely to be in frame.

Hope that helps!
Brilliant demonstration of the techniques and equipment. I wouldn't have thought a full film crew, but would have imagined a good drone operator working with you. Possibly a super-expensive self shooting drone.
One thought on the film is that I would have preferred the final shot to be a reverse and/or POV of your perspective from the top of the rocks, but either way, really enjoyable and informative, and a great illustrative end result.
Your energy & clarity are great.
I will be checking out both the zip line and the gimbal. Curious what editing software you are using? Couldn't quite tell from the brief glimpse.
