      You need adapter plates, some custom throttle cables.
      The TPS wires need reverse. black needs to go to red, and red goes to black.
      The DL injectors are also much larger so the tune is all in the negatives unless you use SV injectors which also require an adapter.
      I no longer own any of them.

    Im currently looking for a replacement engine for my 2007 SV650. The 2007 and 2008 engines are hard to find in my area. I can easily find 03-06 single spark plug engines and 18-21 engines fairly easily. Which would you recommend for the easiest swap and what is involved?
    Thanks for any help or insight. You seem to be the most knowledgrable person in all things SV!

    • @LWTRACER
      @LWTRACER  Год назад

      i'd go for the 2009-2022 ( SFV or SV) because they are dual plug, The cams are bigger and cylinders are nikisil. Those are better motors than the 03-09 2nd gen motors in every way.
      A few things when using the SFV/3rd Gen engines in 2nd gen is the rear cylinder head frame mounts are not there.
      The connector for the crank position sensor is different but you could swap the stator from your 07 engine.
      The clutch set up is different so you would also need a matching clutch cable to go with the newer motor.
      The crank case vent comes from the clutch cover where on your 07 motor it has two vents. one from the front cylinder and the other from crankcase behind rear cylinder. I'm not sure but maybe you could just use the matching airbox from the newer SV which is where the breather tubes go.
      either way you go, you have some things to tackle. if you go with 03-06 motor; you need coils, harness, and ECU. overall a bit simpler.

    Hi, I damaged the gen 1 engine and bought a used gen 2, installed it, unfortunately there is no spark on the plugs.
    After watching your video, I replaced the gear shift sensor and the neutral light came on, the engine tried to start, but the battery was too weak. The next day, when the battery was charged, it didn't even try to start and there was no spark on the plug :-(
    Maybe you have any idea what happened?
    PS. I also have one plug left, supposedly from the carburetor temperature sensor, and I don't know where to plug it in or whether it should be plugged in at all because I don't remember.

    • @LWTRACER

      So it's a 1st gen SV with a 2nd gen motor?
      There is no Carb Temp Sensor. Is the plug coming from the carb? It's probably TPS then and doesn't need plugged in on 1st gens for them to run.

    • @LWTRACER
      @LWTRACER  Год назад +1

      you'll need 1st gen (99-02) flywheel, stator, and intake boots on the 04 engine.
      If you want coolant temp, then you'll have to swap sensors on the thermostats.
      You may also have to remove the oil cooler on the 04 engine as most 1st gen exhaust systems will hit the oil cooler. To remove the oil cooler you'll need to plug the oil line holes with m14x1.5 drain plugs and remove the allenkey'd bolt behind the oil filter.
      Some pair valve block off plates would clean it up since you don't need those either.

    • @swiest152
      @swiest152 5 лет назад

      The easy thing to do is just remove the tubes and keep the sensor plugged in.
      What I do is plug the tube holes on top of the heads and use a 100ohm 1/2w resistor on the harness end to delete the sensor and trick the ECU.
      This motor had giant aluminum plates blocking off the pair on the cylinder heads. It still had the sensor plugged into the harness with no tubes going into sensor.

      Do you know about the possibilities of using a second gen top end on a first gen
      I broke the rear exhaust bolt and stripped the rear intake manifold bolts on the first gen so I'm trying to put my second gen cylinder heads on because they're very similar but the chain tensioners are different the first gen is 6lb-ft of torque and the second gen is 25.5lb-ft of torque
      I installed it based on the second gen specs because I was using the second gen tensioners and the engine wouldn't turn properly

    • @LWTRACER
      @LWTRACER  5 лет назад

      @@joshsterling6950 Cam chain tensioners?
      I'm not sure if I understand what you mean about torque on the cam chain tensioners. 6ft lb would just be the two M6 bolts that hold it on the end. 25ft will snap those bolts.

    • @joshsterling6950
      @joshsterling6950 5 лет назад

      @@LWTRACER yes the cam chain tensioner bolt, I'm talking about the middle bolt that actually creates the tension on the cam chain i have the service manual for both a first and second gen and for the second gen motor it says 25 foot pounds of pressure for that bolt

      Let me try explain more clearly. I'm using my second gen cylinder head on my first gen motor and the cam chain tensioners are different so I have to use the second gen tensioner and the manual for second gen says that bolt needs 25lb-ft of pressure for the right amount of tension so I did that and it crushed the washer out and around the bolt head and the engine wouldnt turn fully when adjusting for top dead center. At first I thought maybe my torque wrench broke and I torqued it too tight but then I check the first gen manual to see if it was different and the manual said for a first gen tensioner it needs 6lb-ft for the right amount of tension
