I remember when the band would go into Cindy's late at night in Northeast Bakersfield after playing at the cadillac ranch or trouts. They some good ol boys.
Amended Comment:
Nobody successfully covered Red Rock in 309 attempts during his career. In 1987, Red Rock was the PRCA's bucking bull of the year, and Lane was the World Champion Bull Rider. After 309 times out, Red Rock was retired. Shortly after his retirement, Growny Bros. Rodeo Company brought him back for a best of 7 series of exhibition rides at 7 different rodeos throughout California, Oregon, and Utah. In that series, Lane covered (rode him for 8 seconds) Red Rock 4 times. Lane passed in 1989.
Lan Frost did btw but he died by a bull jabbing his horns into his side breaking his ribs he got up but feel injuring his heart and lungs that's what killed him he should have stayed down but he was a legend and I respect that
the
The worst one to me was taking care of business
Taking care of business was the bull that killed Lane
I love this song even after my momma died. She was a rodeo cowgirl in barrel racing and she would always take me to a rodeo when they came to statesbro Georgia and I miss her every single day since she passed 10years ago
Lane is an inspiration to me, he never gave up. He was thrown so many times but he got on and rode again. That's heart and dedication.
I saw Lane Red Rock at the Redding Rodeo. That was the night Lane beat Red Rock, still have the program from that night.
That was the 3rd match and the first time he was ridden
The song is the best song I've ever heard in my life
I’ve been saying that for the past 20 years!! Ah so good
Red Rock was a calm, even sweet animal. He love attention. He belonged to Growney Brothers Rodeo Company out of Red Bluff, CA. They used to set up a panel pen at the Fair so kids could pet him. Lane was amazing as well. He rode Red Rock at an Exhibition for the full 8 Seconds just days before he was killed.
wish we still had people to say about this kinda stuff. I miss the old country music stuff.. This is a great song
Hat's off to lane frost, Jim sharp, tuff , Cody and Ty Murray ...legends!
309 buck offs! IMPRESSIVE! Not one bad day or poor effort. Every time he went in the chutes he came with enough to dispose of the best in the world. Congratulations Red Rock and thank you Smoking Armadillos for recognizing a great cowboy AND a great bull.
back in the eighties I could not wait to see lane frost ride. he was my favorite and still is in my heart.
Melissa Deere I was young then he will always be in my heart. He is still one of my hero*s . Richard

That's what I'm talking about
Make sure you're really nice to people - he used to say what Freckles always said - it's just as easy to make people smile as not... make people feel like they're special - he was not only a world champion bull rider - he was a world champion human being... always wanted to help out....
Hard to believe 30 years agao today that we last Lane Frost
Can never forget this song dedicated to Lane. Rode bulls in IPRA and PRCA from 1993-1999...you had to pay your dues. This song still gives me chills, even today. Lane was a one in a million contestant. Heart of gold. May he never be forgotten. Old fact, in the movie with Travolta, Urban Cowboy, the three cowboys sitting on the fence were Lane Frost, Tuff Hedeman, and Cody Lambert.
Man I forgot all about this song till i just seen it on here......great song, great bull, and a great rider. They are probably having Rodeo up in heaven right now. Still battleing it out....
I've taken music lessons from their fiddler as of today. He's very talented!
this song is beast.R.I.P Lane Frost and Red Rock.🙏🙌🐂🌵
Yet another true classic by the 'Dillos....so intense and powerful....yet such an amazing tribute both to Lane Frost and to Red Rock.
Won the bull riding in Mariposa, Ca. in 1992 and partied on their bus after their concert. Pretty cool cats. This song shoulda been a Nashville hit but they are from Bakersfeild so there's that. Classic and Art Watson in the video at Woody, Ca
Kern County 👍🏻
Yeah unless you're Buck Owens or Mearl Haggard you're not making in country
I live right down the road from where he lived!!
R.I.P. to both lane frost and red rock this song is a awesome and powerful tribute to both I have aways liked this song
i love this song my little brothers name is lane and i plan on naming my son lane and im really glad that there are country artist who sing true country i don't like the newer songs. glad there are people who still recognize lane frost and how wonderful he was
Awesome song, and tribute to Lane Frost. R.I.P. Cowboy, and know that you're still loved, and your legacy will not be forgotten.
Ok, just researched it. Red Rock suffered a stroke on June 8, 1994 while being tended to by a vet on Growney ranch in red bluff, ca. He was 18 yrs old and living out his retirement and was buried under an oak tree on the Growney Bros Rodeo Ranch.
Hell ya timmy
I can't even explain it, but this song makes me weep.
Heaven got the best cowboy ever when they got Lane Frost.
Aaron Watson did a song about Lane called July in Cheyenne, check it out.
I did love that song
I LOVE THE SONG, to bad he died though it's a sad song and I cry :( and btw red rock is cut as a baby and did you know that he is really gentle ppl use to get on his back for photos ( kids ) but in bull riding there hurting the bull somehow I know that but red rock was a orphan and raised by the family milk cow and I have a feeling they bottle fed him some so that's part of the reason why he is sooo gentle look up for some more info I don't know all of it only a little bit XD
The Warrior at club the song states he was gentle in the pin but a Bucking machine in the chuted
what do you mean by cut? And bucking bulls aren't hurt during bull riding - they are tried out as bulls who might buck when they are young... if a bull doesn't have the natural ability, they won't buck - they cost a lot because they are special... and rodeo livestock is very well treated because rodeo stock contractors depend on them feeling good and healthy because it's their business - the way they make a living!!! I was Red Rock's PR person - I knew him really well. He was raised on the family milk cow so he was very used to people being around - I took a lot of photos with him and kids and adults - I took one photo of him with an entire 3rd grade class in the pen with him - it's like a Where's Waldo picture.
Have already

Sorry for the misinformation on one of my old comments. Good lookin' out! Red Rock was indeed unridden on 309 rides, not 209...don't know why I put that. And thanks so much for all the great comments...this song is very close to my heart.
then there were the first two rides that Lane didn't make - which made 311 times - but 309 in his professional career! :D Thanks for the great song guys!
I don't know how I haven't heard this before. This is a great song.
My husband loves this song .its very close to his heart.
It is TRUE that Lane was the only cowboy to ride Red Rock. However, what few people know is that one of his travelling partners, Cody Lambert, figured out the trick to staying on Red Rock and rode him to the buzzer. Red Rock was a smart bull and had figured out that however the rider was sitting on him, left or right of his spine, he would come out of the chute spinning in the opposite direction. Cody tried a little trick, while taking his wrap he was sitting on Red Rock then stood up off of the bull's back seconds before calling for his gate confusing Red Rock, since no one had done that to him before . As the gate swung open, that is when Cody dropped onto Red Rock's back and set his feet. Confused, Red Rock jumped straight out into the arena instead of spinning right there in front of the chute. About half way through the ride, Cody's weight shifted to one side and that is when Red Rock started spinning.....to the opposite of where Cody was sitting. I found this out several years ago when a guy I traveled the rodeo circuits with ran into Cody at a PBR show and was asking about Red rock.

Bakersfield is in the house.
Lane was the only one to ride red rock. the challenge of the champions was where lane beat the bull 4-3. Red Rock was retired shortly after that. That's why this song brings me to tears. Long live lane frost and red rock!
I remember this song from the 90s!
red rock was the best bull there was , is and the best there will be
lane frost is a super great bull rider and it is so said that he lost his life but he died doing what he loved

amazing tribute to Lane Frost I found out yesterday my Ma went to school with Tuff Hedeman and Lane Frost I was shocked that my Ma was surrounded by such greatness
There was more than 7 meetings between lane and red rock. The 4 rides lane made on red rock was after red rock was retired
clash of the champions what an amazing series between the two
A lot of people actually didn’t know the Red Rock was retired and that Red Rock is the only unridden bucking bull in PRCA history with 309 attempts
Lane...you were the best!!!!
Thats one bad a-- Bull. I've seen footage of him jumping so high, you could walk without ducking under his hooves at the top of his arc when he jumped. That's a while lotta beef to launch that high. Wonder what became of Red
Two of the greatest athletes in the world. R.I.P lane and redrock.
2 true legends
