Wow. I had recently turned 20 years old, and, almost 5 months into a 4 year stint in the military, back home for 30 days after training school when this broadcast. Listened to Ron Chapman from his beginnings at KLIF through his retirement at KLUV. Of course, I was gone Oct '70-summer '74, but, home early Feb '71 for 30 days, so, I may have listened to this broadcast.😁 Weird.
Wow! A year before I got hired at KVIL... Can you name a few reporters in 1963? I'm looking for one who may have gone to Parkland Hospital after JFK got shot. Did KVIL do their own broadcasts on November 22, 1963 or did they carry live feed from another station? Thanks.
I believe their sister station KLIF (AM) fully covered the assassination. KVIL would simulcast some of KLIF so it’s very possible that what was heard on FM was just a rebroadcast of AM. You can find several hours of the KLIF recordings of the event on RUclips, if you haven’t already done so.
Probably off air. I don't know if Ben Laurie is still on the radio, but Mitch Carr (from the same era) still works for KRLD and is sometimes heard on KLUV, doing news.
