Johnny Dark in the 9 to noon slot on KLIF 1190 Dallas on September 1, 1964 shortly after KLIF moved into their new studios at 2120 Commerce in Downtown Dallas (Triangle Point).
I'm sad to learn you dad passed, Greg. I listened to him and the other excellent KLIF announcers growing up. I'm glad my friend Steve has posted these great airchecks so our memories are never lost and can inform & inspire future generations.
I worked for John Borders when he owned KNFO-FM in Waco. He was the voice of our TM automation and the voice of several national brands. He was the sales manager of an FM in DFW when he bought us. 1977, 78
I had the pleasure of working with Stan Richards the former P.D. of KLIF in Dallas, at KOY AM 55 in Phoenix, AZ back in the mid 70's. Thanks for posting this great blast from the past.
John Borders had a smile to his voice. As he speaks I imagine he is smiling. I often hear the term but now I finally get to hear someone who had a "smile to his voice." KLIF was lucky to have him.
Uncle John! A Dallas staple!
GREAT radio guy, but an even better mentor, coach AND Dad!!! Pancreatic cancer took him in March, 2016.

It's hard to believe KLIF gave winners and accident victim addresses on the air back then. Such an innocent era.
