    Thank you! I was able to isolate it to the subscapularis pain which is what I was suspecting , a rotator cuff/shoulder issue. Your video was very succinct, to the point, with practical tips.

    After 6 months couch potato and jacuzzi rest, all tests negative.. but I can feel painless clicking and squishing of tendon doing those tests. Stiffness in that area when waking up in morning. Power, strength, explosion seem to be there. However a minor bump on upper outside of arm, it was large 6 months ago and now small. Really weird, annoying problem to have.

    supraspinatus or longhead, could be either. But I've got distal bicep pain as well. Definitely happened when I started doing hammer curls. Cut those completely. Doing lightweight supinating stretches. Cannot hold arm to shave on opposite side of face for more than a minute or two or the arm will feel pain when straightened (must straighten slowly) -- assuming this is some form of tenosynovitis (began several years ago with that one). Shoulders not quite at even heights when standing, likely the result of overdevelopment of front delts vs rear lats. Minor weakness in shoulder during presses and differential in lifting motions between right and left sides -- likely adaptive compensation to avoid the painful ranges of motion (used to be worse).
    I can see why this stuff is hard to diagnose.

    Thank you for the information. I had no pain when performing these test. I do have pain when I bend my are along my body up to my chest then raise my armwhile bent and don’t get very far without pain but the pain passes when I raise high enough. Not sure I described that very well.

    Thanks for the video which is super helpful. Uppercut test is for me really painful. Should ı do foam rolling to biceps or massage gun to my shoulder ? Are these can be helpful? How ı can implement these for rehab? Or some massage techniques something to relieve the pain. İts been a week pain is still there.

    Ah thank you! I'm an older female shoveling snow 3 weeks ago in Vancouver! We never get snow, plus there was ice stuck to the ground that I was scaping off with shovel. It didn't hurt at the time! But wow so painful. I watched a lot of videos before yours but couldn't figure it out. This video is so clear and to the point. Thank you!

Surgeon said i needed SLAP surgery, had it, 5 mnths later, still cant move shoulder and long head still hurts just the same. At my wits end. Now surgeon says i need another surgery. No, i never needed surgery on shoulder. Not sure where to go from here. I rested, cortisone three times. Still hurts for various movements throughout the day. Maddening

    Thanks … so if the lift off test is painful then it’s rotator cuff problem? My upper arm hurts too, which is why I thought it might be bicep but the tests don’t trigger it. Sorry I found it a little difficult to follow even with the transcript

    • @focusrehab

      thx for watching! in general if the uppercut and palpation tests are negative AND the lift off is painful, a rotator cuff injury can be suspected while the biceps long tendon seems uninvolved. good luck!

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  3 месяца назад

      often the motion of pushing your arm forward (like sawing wood) activates the biceps tendon, alternatively repetitive motion overhead at the extreme ends of range can compress the tendon, so both mechanisms can be at play with this problem and should be considered. good luck!

    Gotta ask: Does ice/heat treatment even do anything long term? Ive had a lot of issues with supraspinatus, biceps, brachioradialis, subscaularis, plantar fasciitis, etc etc with sport injuries, and the number one thing that has always worked is the corrent type & intensity of rehabilitation exercises for the phase of recovery you find yourself in. I think that provides the blood flow and movement needed for tendon recovery just as well as alternating hot/cold treatment. Apart from using ice during the intial phase of injury to calm the inflammation, is there any point at all to ice/heat after the first week or so? using RICE, long-term, I would say that rest is the worst thing you can do after the first few weeks, because it will not get better for a very long time (years) if you only rest. Sorry for the rant, just got back from the orthopedic who was clueless about my ongoing bicep long-headed tendon injury.

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  6 месяцев назад +1

      i'm in 100% agreement here; the right balance of loading/unloading with forces is key for recovery. I do recommend hot/cold but as an analgesic and nothing more.Some patients find it helps ease the spiciness so they can stay on their exercise program. good luck!

    Uppercut test causes no pain in the shoulder. My pain is more in the forearm/elbow, and the lower part of the biceps. In the transition to the forearm. Only my right arm. Limits me in biceps curl, Lat raises, rows and flyes. Pressing exercises is fine, when the dumbbells are in position. But it hurts to get them there. So I guess that’s not a biceps tendon issue.

      bursitis/swelling can complicate the picture, and there can also be more than one injury. Usually a few days of acute care/tlc to let swelling go down can help get a clearer picture. Good luck!

  • @MattyDredge

    Hi, thank you for the video. I have an acute shoulder injury caused by excessively propping myself up on my shoulder without engaging my shoulder (I only realised in retrospect unfortunately). My symptoms are numbness in my index and middle finger (previously my ring finger also but that's come back now). I also get pins and needles in my hand if I exert force up through the shoulder (press up, commando crawl or leaning on a table with my elbows) but can climb with no issues. Im not normally getting any pain. I have been diagnosed with tendonitis in the long head bicep tendon and a rotator cuff which has caused inflammation which is putting pressure on the nerve. I'm doing some exercises but making no progress after 5 weeks. Can you offer any advice please?

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  Год назад

      sometimes when the shoulder is very mobile it can glide excessively when loaded like you describe causing pinching of the nerves where they pass around the coracoid or under the pec minor. In general a stability program and extra time does the trick but they can be slow if the nerves are involved because the nerves are so sensitive. good luck!
