- Today we're looking at a relatively affordable alternative to the Rolex Explorer, the Swiss Made Vaer A7 Tradition in 36mm. It's a watch that I am really impressed with, one that checks all the boxes, and a watch that can definitely scratch the Rolex Explorer itch if you have one.

I’m glad you’re doing better and back making videos!
Thank you for featuring this one! I was wondering about Vaer watches.👍
Super cool watch. I sold my Explorer 1, as well as my Tudor Ranger and am slowly missing them. This Vaer would be a cool substitution
Very nice watch. Thanks for video
Absolutely beautiful time peace. Thank you for this hearty video, I really enjoyed it, plust this watch is really a classic, would be very happy to own it.
Thanks for always making these great videos.
What a way to comeback! Hope you’re fully recovered by now, we missed you
One of my favorite RUclips channels and the first microbrand I found when getting into watches. Perfect combo! And ready to try a 36mm.
vaer a7 nice looking field watch thanks for your time!
One of my favorite RUclips channels! Vaer have a few inserting watches.
Great review!
Love this watch and great video as always!
Nice watch. Always informative.
Excellent review as usual 😉
I greatly appreciate your content! This watch looks amazing. Everything about it places it squarely in my wheelhouse. Thank you!
Nice watch and good review! I like the dial and movement
Sharp watch! Thank you for the review.
As always an informative view Guy. Over the last few years I've been gravitating towards smaller watches that wear larger than the dimensions might suggest like the Nomos Ludwig 36 and the Black Bay 36. Totally different minimalist styles but somehow seem to work for me. This Vaer is an interesting option. It may take some inspiration from the Explorer (3,6 and 9 Arabic numerals) but it's different enough to be its own watch. It replaces the batons with smaller triangles for the hour markers, Syringe hands replace the Mercedes hands and round 5 minute markers instead of sticks. Cases are different finishes as well. I like it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the opportunity
A great quick review Guy. This looks like a great daily watch on a strap. The Jubilee influenced bracelet adds versatility as well for other occasions. Many thanks for sharing.
Nice review!
That is one cool watch! Great design and great movement! Keep it going Vaer 🎉
Hi 👋, appreciate your work!
Cool watch, thanks for the review.
Thanks for this review! Love Vaer and this is a cool watch!
Very cool watch, thanks for putting it on my radar. Loved the review as well as many others you’ve done. Thanks!
Love the dimensions. As always, great video.
Nice review! I have been interested in this brand and model for a while now.
Great video! I've been debating on what I want to get for my first Swiss-made timepiece for a few months now and the A7 Tradition keeps popping into my searches, so I'm glad to find at least one review on it! Idk what it is but it seems like most watch channels just let this brand fly under the radar, or they reviewed one of the quartz models and haven't spoken of them since.
Because this is over specked with swiss mov. It's a micro brand with two guys running the insta marketing, and this is around $1k (tax and import).
Let say you are buying a car... You can have Hyundai... for a price... and than you can spec it out. Leather, 200hp, 19"weals and everything... now you are going overboard and over specking that car, because you are going into Audi territory.
Audi is a better brand and seen different than a specked out Hyundai.
Around 1k... or whatever $800 you can have a well known brands that are seen different than Vear.
That's why quartz from them makes sense, cause it a well specked quartz piece.
Above that isn't reasonable, but if you like it, go for it.
Oh and try to sell that Hyundai... nobody's gonna pay you back those specks.
Hi thanks for sharing, this watch reminds me of my younger days watching a black and white TV. It is simple and clean, and it’s easy to read time. Nice watch!
Great review. This is one nice looking field watch.
Great watch and great review!
Awesome video !
Awesome watch!
Good review I have the C5 quartz version and love it...
Thank you for reviewing the VAER A7, agree the 36 when done right is an awesome watch size.
Interesting review!
very nice... love it .... cheers
I have a Buddy that would love this watch! Great video as always!
Thank you my friend!
Love the look of Vaer watches I’ve been thinking of getting one for a while!
Nice video! And that's a good looking watch!
A nice, no nonsense review of a classic looking watch. I have a 7” wrist and one of my favorite watches is a 37 mm Citizen eco-drive black field watch. I think 38 mm wide watches fit my wrist best, which means 36-40 mm is a good range. Although this Vaer is at bottom end of that range, I can see that it would look great. The lack of a date makes it a bit less useful as a tool watch, but the resulting symmetry is gorgeous.
Nice review! I’ve been eyeing their dirty dozen but this explorer inspired watch would be a nice addition to the collection!
Great watch and excellent review
Great vid. Love the watch
Wow what a nice overall package! Has everything I look for in a field watch
Great review, love the size and legibility of this watch.
Awesome watch and review
I find myself looking at smaller watches more and more now. Thanks for the review
Just preordered the Vaer A12 Ceremony in gold. Another 36mm watch. I really like this size after purchasing my first 36 watch several months ago.
Nice watch. Good review.
Cool video! I’m not sure about the bracelet, but overall I like it very much
Great watch giveaway. Nice affordable explorer style watch, fits any situation 👍
Beauty! I need this watch
Love the watch size and the jubilee bracelet is my fav.
Love that 36 mm is having a comeback, the A7 is one of Vaer’s best for sure. Nice rundown!
I’ve been eye ballin’ Vaer for awhile now. The 3,6,9 tool watches are possibly my favourite type of time piece. Also interested in their solar powered Divers and would love to hear your thoughts on those as well. Beauty work on the video, succinct and to the point with lovely footage.
Cheers Guy ✌️😊
Great looking watch!
Thanks for calling this brand to my attention as it looks like a winner. I’m glad the bracelet and strap have quick removal spring bars. That being said, it’s makes me wonder if it’s really *that* hard to put a tool-less, adjustable clasp on a bracelet (without turning the clasp into a monstrosity like the Omega SMP300). Even 1-2 positions of on-the-fly micro-adjust makes a huge difference for all-day comfort (e.g. Omega ‘57 or Tudor Pro). I’ve discovered it’s a stealth reason watches stay or flip in my collection.
Great video, Guy. 📽️ I’ve been watching your content for years - your no-nonsense POV is appreciated in contrast to other’s bombastic styles.
Good looking piece and the explorer layout is a winner in my opinion.
Beautiful Watch!
Huge fan of the explorer so I’m in love with the look of this watch. Beautiful & interesting seeing an Explorer type watch on a jubilee
Nice watch that's well proportioned, good looking and it doesn't scream Rolex. Well done!
Nice and simple
Great review! I am planning to buy their solar variant that's coming out soon! 👍👍👍
I met the Vaer founders at the Windup Watch Fair a few weeks ago. They looked happy to be there and I was surprised this small brand had a bunch of people crowding around their booth.
I bought the Hamilton Murph 42mm after seeing your review and love it.
Thanks very much. Big call with the 1000 views but I hope you get them. Also hope you’re doing better now after the health stuff
Hi from the UK, glad to see youre on the road to recovery. This is a nice watch, for someone like me with a visual disability, the legibility of this dial is superb. Nice logical, detailed review as usual.
This is a great looking watch. I've checked out the quartz version as I really like the Explorer style, but this one really gives off the Explorer vibe without being an outright copy. I hadn't seen the automatic version (which I prefer over quartz) so this is definitely on my radar now.
Great watch to give away, thank you
Cool little watch. Nice daily beater
I like the look.
Would love the auto version of this watch. Thanks
Vaer’s an underrated brand! Great watch!
I have been keeping a eye on Vaer for a while, bought on of their quartz field watchs a while ago.
very cool watch, love the size!
Great and correct size for a non-diving watch. Good to see a Swiss movement inside too.
Assuming you have very slender wrists that is.
Great review Guy, the Explorer is my grail watch so when an affordable alternatives pop up I totally love it. Hopefully I can win 🙌🏻.
Love the new short reviews but really miss the good ol in depth reviews.
Really like the way this watch looks, almost like a mix between the Explorer and Ranger
Beautiful watch.
Sweet watch. Defo getting Rolex explorer vibes here, but changed up enough to make it their own. Bracelet looks decent as well. Nice review.
Defiantly a great looking watch. Been wanting to get a Explorer alternative
That’s a sharp looking piece. The size even works on my 8” wrist.
Vaer has another winner here!
Nice watch, would love to own one
I've always been a big fan of 36-38mm watches. Fortunately this size also seems to be the style I like most. That would be field watches. I'll need to look further into Vaer brand watches.
Man, I have no idea how you keep your hands so still while you’re holding these watches. That takes some skill! Sometimes I think it’s a photo before realising the second hand is moving haha. Thanks for the giveaway!
Hello Guy, watch looks amazing. Never tried 36 before, but it looks good for its size.
36mm can be great if the watch is properly proportioned.
I am a fan of 369 dial, This piece is awesome!
Nice size watch. Not too over done.
Cool watch!
Lovely Watch thanks so much for the generous giveaway
Great watch would love to be in a position to afford one, gotta start a collection somewhere!
Love the look and comfort of the jubilee bracelet. I wish it tapers down to 16 cm though.
It is an interesting watch. And desirable, especially the crown.
Vaer makes nice watches. I have the same Explorer you sold Guy and on my 7 1/2” wrist it fits perfectly. I wonder if you put an aftermarket glide lock clasp on it would you have kept it? Best regards
I very much like the look of the watch and the jubilee bracelet also suits look of the watch. A great Swiss made alternative to the Rolex explorer at a very tiny fraction of the price.
I hope to win this watch, if I don't I certainly consider buying this great everyday Swiss mechanical watch. Great review 👍
That watch looks like a winner!
There’s no way I will buy another seiko… and I simply love this watch max! 🖖🏻
Interesting watch
