    How Cool ! I had no idea exactly what went in to the creation of a Vaer timepiece. Your process , and your employees are very impressive. My D7 Artic Swiss Diver is on the way, and I cannot wait to get it. I actually own 2 Rolex models, and a Rado, but after viewing this video, I am even more excited about the arrival of my D7. Well done, gentlemen !

      kwpatlaw, as an owner of this very same watch (in white), I expect that you will be very pleased with it. It is, IMO, the modern embodiment of the spirit of the classic Marine Master. It is not an investment. It is a tool watch, meant to be used. I don't think anyone is likely to mug you for it, as they would for one of your Rolexes. And, if they do, the sting will be fleeting. Just hand it over and order up another one.
      The bracelet is not up to the standards of the big watch brands, but at 20mm it can take bands and straps from a variety of vendors such as Strapcode and Erikas Originals MN style elastic straps. The VAER leather and nylon straps are very high quality, comfortable, and durable.

    Hello! I just wanted to take a moment to comment on your video… In fact, I’ve watched a few this morning. I recently bought one of your watches and I’m eagerly waiting for it’s arrival. My purchase of your product was far from impulse, as I’ve been looking for a watch which met my needs, functionality and price range. A little about me, I kinda consider myself a wee bit of an adrenaline junkie. I’ve worn watches in a number of different environments from my time in the military, my hobbies such as scuba diving, mountain biking and backpacking. I’ve had wonderful watches which have done their job and then some, and others - well, you get what you paid for. In fact, I was toying with such a watch awhile back. In the end, this just isn’t me. I never buy cheap gear for any hobby or job requirement. Why should I stop now? The search went on… About a week ago, I found a review on your watch vs said “budget watch”. I never heard of your company, but my interest peaked. The comments about quality caught my interest and the rest became a series of “Dark Rabbit Hole Discoveries” and “Ah Ha Moments”. In short, I was excited about what I found, purchased a watch and subscribed to your emails and videos. Over morning coffee, I watched your video, “The Way Home - A Surf Expedition to Northern Iceland” and I’m still looking for my socks and other garments. I shared your video to my Facebook page and look forward to the arrival of my watch. Just so you know, I rarely do this. Afterwards, I watched this video and the same garment process occurred. In closing, Kudos to your adventure and those to come. I look forward to traveling with your product and the upcoming adventures I have planned.

    Great video! I own two VAER American Assembled watches and love them. My favorite is the diver watch which nowadays I wear most of the time. Quality is something that's added to a product over an entire manufacturing process and VAER eloquently demonstrates how that is done.

  • @ivermec-tin666
    @ivermec-tin666 3 года назад +6

    That was a fun look behind the scenes. With assembly being handled through a partnership, it all comes down to the quality of the employees and the managerial commitment to integrity to eliminate errors in assembly. It is really difficult to accomplish. Most firms try to implement the principles espoused by W. Edwards Deming, but fail to embrace them systematically. It doesn't end well for those firms. Continuous Process Improvement is the heart of the matter.
    The rig for testing WR with air pressure is brilliant. It never occurred to me that air could be used instead of water; but it makes perfect sense. It permits you to test the completed assembly without risking the contamination of the movement with water.
    C'mon Reagan, smile for the camera. You know you want to.

    Nice to see how transparent and proud you are about your US assembly process. As you should be.
    Not to knock any other microbrand or for that matter large brand which decides to have manufacturing outsourced or done overseas. And I know some of your offerings are foreign built as well but as someone who first hand has had to deal with my job being sent overseas or over borders more than once, there is something to be said about a business supporting it's home market with more than just a product to sell. I think manufacturing and manufacturing expertise is an important capability for any country to have and take pride in.
    If the Swiss found a way to keep the industry live and vibrant in their country. No reason for it not to be able to coexist in the US.

    • @VaerWatches
      @VaerWatches  3 года назад

      Thanks Christian, great comment and we completely agree. These days, a global supply chain is a necessary part of most complex technical goods (just look at the auto industry). That being said, there is still a huge opportunity to support the expansion of more high-skilled and technical craftsmanship State-side. Given the tens of billions of dollars Americans spend every year on watches, there's no reason why the USA can't follow the example of Switzerland, Japan, and Germany and establish a skilled, and well-paid workforce of watchmakers. We're a small fish in a big industry, but hopefully, as our brand grows more people will start to recognize the opportunity, and start to "invest" in this new vision for the American watch industry.

    As someone who has lost a lot of faith in US manufacturing quality, this is exactly what you should be doing to reach people like me. While I don't believe we CAN'T compete with European and Japanese quality, I do believe most US manufacturers don't want to try. Their short-term focus tells them quality reduces profits. Since you seem to recognize the value of quality as a selling point, you have gained another potential customer. Now, you just have to meet product demand while *maintaining your quality focus*. I'll likely consider a US assembled mechanical watch once you again have some to sell.

    Holy shit Vaer Watches!!! I purchased C3, shipping to Korea. There was mistake by Vaer Watches, writing wrong price which is far bigger than the original price. And it caused custom clearance problem, even panelty.
    I requested service desk to send me revised invoice to solve the issue. But they are ignoring my problem without any feedback.
    I dont know it’s quality because my watch is holding in the custom. But I am pretty sure Vaer Watches has fuxxing terrible customer support.
    It is disaster to purchase Vaer Watches from abroad. They do not support anything when problem happen. Even they do not share their phone number. Its is only possible to claim via email, which they never answer.

    Few countries have the capability of producing an accurate esthetically pleasing watch. The U.S. has lost the ability in the last century. Japan has a designation.National Living Treasure. The state supports arts and skills in danger of being lost. Perhaps the last watch movement will be from them.
    Meanwhile Elon will wear a Swiss watch to Mars.

      Thanks Shane - I fully agree, it's really quite impressive stuff. When we started with US Assembly back in 2018, we had to rely on a lot of veteran watch repair techs who were doing every step on the same bench. We've obviously come a long way since then, and it's really awesome to see a new generation (most of our technicians are under 30) learn the craft from the assembly standpoint, just like their counterparts in places like Switzerland and Japan. Obviously, it's a skillset/career path we want to continue to support and expand as we grow the brand.

    Why the safety static arm band? Curious why yall would need that in there.

    The “assembled in America” tag at Vaer has many more steps and requires more tooling than I anticipated. Thank you for investing in the US labor force.

      Thanks for the comment Steve! Yes, I think it comes as a surprise to a lot of folks. We're excited to continue sharing more inside access, and also expand the conversation around the current legal challenges around US Made vs. US Assembled. From my perspective, it seems people care about US sourcing on all sides of the political spectrum, so it's pretty strange that the current trade regulations do very little to reward/incentive increased American investment - as we grow, it's something we're going to start lobbying around.

    Thanks, Ryan and Reagan, for creating this video! Seeing the Vaer team at work and understanding how much pride goes into your watches helped me decide on your C5 Design White American Assembly watch.

    Great vidio. I have been enjoying my two Arctic's. First one a D5 and just a few days ago a D7 arrived. Cool to see who is assembling the D5 in this vidio. Any watch wearing bud of mine that see's these watches likes the looks of them. They are classic but the ceramic bezel and the sapphire dome crystal just pop from any angle. Every time I look at these watches for the time I can't help but admire how good looking they are. Keep doing what your doing.

    I just purchased an A5 field automatic from you guys. I am very pleased an impressed with the quality, value/cost ratio, and the aesthetics of my new watch! I am also really stoked about your vision to utilize and bring back such an awesome craftsmanship based manufacturing process to USA! This video does a great job of bringing your vision and your dedication to quality to your customer base. Keep up the great work!!

    I am so happy that I discovered Vaer Watches. Assembled in the USA and the USA Movement mean a lot to me. They are the two main reasons I purchased a C3 watch. I can't wait to get it. I wish this company great success and the founders are truly great entrepreneurs and true to the American history of manufacturing. Thank You William Annelli

    Traded in my Apple Watch for a VAER automatic and have never been happier. I love the clean simplicity, elegance, and value of the watch. Added benefit: I’m not beholden to my phone anymore 👍🏼👍🏼

    I just love what you guys are doing!! I am waiting for a little more USA content, as I don’t have a watch need at all, but maybe a USA case, Strap and USA MVMT and I think I;m all in!!!

    This is outstanding. I think a major factor to Vaer’s success are levels of transparency unheard of by even the majority of top-level luxury watch manufacturers. For example, info shared in this video as it relates to sourcing of quality automatic movements is not only interesting, but paints a picture of challenges that must be overcome to get the US back into the quality mechanical movement market. Thanks Reagan and Ryan for another great job and yet another reason why people can purchase Vaer watches with high levels of confidence.

    I'm a smart watch guy, but have been looking to get something classier because my twenty year old Citizen is kind of out of date. Glad your ad popped up on Facebook as I had never heard of Vaer before. It's so refreshing to see a company focusing on US production, and I have to admit you are right, without this video I would have had no idea just how much effort you put into assembly. Very cool. Now just to decide between a field and diver...
