Hi Kay. I think you did a really nice job on this video and capsule wardrobe. . My life and lifestyle is very casual so my everyday wear is too. But having a nice capsule of clothes for travel, lunch with friends and even a night out is a great way to save money as well as looking stylish. Thanks for the great ideas!
Love everything except for the white boots. I think those are what the storm troopers wore in the Star Wars movies.
I agree. I also dislike ankle length pants with loafers and sneakers, especially when there's a big color difference between the pants, skin, and shoes. It's like a big neon sign pointing to the great big feet. Almost every woman's feet look big and clutzy with that fashion combination. When I wear loafers or sneakers, I wear them with straight-leg or bootcut pants that come down at least to the top of the shoe. I want an unbroken line that blurs the line of the leg with the foot. I've had women comment on how small my feet are, but they are actually large for my height; it's all optical illusion.

Thank you so much for the video. You've given me some great ideas to incorporate and switch up pieces that I already have.
With age (should) come wisdom. It's so refreshing to see someone who believes in classic, timeless fashion rather than trendy "ins/outs."
I love layering and creating fresh outfits out of what I know I have. I'd say 30% of my outfits are repurposed/remixed creations w what I already have and 70% are my wonderful accessories ranging between scarves, necklaces, broaches and my staples of earrings (w a short natural, I feel naked without at least earrings😂).
So many times we don't realize we have so much more than we thought and just run out to buy that one top (or whatever) before even considering how something we already have can accommodate (like the jeans you cut to fit your height. So many times I've seen people just go out and get the exact fit of something that they need that they could simply have done a homemade alteration to.)
I have worked clerical for my elementary school for 18 yrs and I'm not sure if it was meant to be a compliment or a dig (the truth is often spoken in jest) but it was mentioned more than once by a previous administrator that perhaps they should apply for a clerical position because, judging by my wardrobe, clearly I earn more than she did 🤔
I chose to take it as a compliment and moved on😊
I love that I found a beautiful lightweight hooded water resistant London Fog jacket w a hood and zip out fleece lining a few years ago for under $10! I'm sure I would have bought it under any label, but to know I found such a quality item for a fraction of the cost was priceless!
I also find that a fleece lined base layer (for me anyway) has been a game-changer. Cuddlduds have become extremely more affordable than when they first came out years ago and I love being able to have the ones that have a wick away layer that helps regulate my body temperature. I can stay comfortable throughout the day on our waterfall treks where it's cooler.
Thank you again for the ideas. This will be great for our various upcoming fall cabin weekend getaways and pit stops to check out the Mom & Pop shops dotted throughout N. GA

This is a good base plan and certain colors of course can be changed to suit each person. Those white boots are a no for me but there are many others to choose from. One missed styling opportunity was wearing black slacks, black turtleneck, the green wrap slung across the chest, draping over the shoulder worn with statement earrings. Chic for a nice evening out. (but maybe not so much with blocky loafers? ). The camel vest seemed too much in addition to a camel sweater. A charcoal grey vest would be classier. Scarves are so underestimated. I pack 3-4 of different shapes, fabrics and sizes and always an animal print. Most of this is solid advice even for 2024 and beyond. Thanks for sharing! Good job. 👍

Capsule dressing is really great but you wouldn’t know it from my closet. Lol ! However I do shop so nearly everything goes together. This was a great video! Few pieces but good quality vs lots of stuff , I totally agree!

Kay, you really nailed it with this capsule wardrobe for travel. ❤️ I do wish more clothing companies would add browns to their color palettes. Not everyone looks good in black or gray. Being a “fall” I look washed out. Scarves are the perfect accessory, they are so versatile, and take up almost no room in your luggage. And I love the T by Talbots line! I don’t do capsule at home but always for travel or even camping. Layering lets you be prepared for whatever the weather brings. Also really like the sweater you are wearing in this video. Looks just lovely on you.

Chico’s does a wonderful no-iron button down/up shirt in multiple colors that comes in two different lengths so women of different heights are covered. One length is shorter for tuck in without too much bulk and one length is longer and can be worn open over a tank.

Hello from Robin's channel. I wear mostly skirts traveling, so I wish that fall capsules would feature some skirts and tops that go well with that casual look.

Hi Julie. I can work on that but I just don’t wear a lot of skirts myself. I tried to find a nice simple black skirt in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and struck out with all four I purchased. 😜 But I’m game if I can find a couple of good skirts. 👍🏻

I love all your videos. You are very talented and inspirational to older women. I loved the clothes but would have liked them even more with a little more color. I understand the need to have everything coordinate but there was just too much black. Black can be a very draining color on some women, myself included.

Love this video. All the pieces work so well together and that hat. Lovely! I bought a pair of white/ivory boots recently. They were part of the NSALE, but I wasn't sure about them. They seemed like such a statement, and I was afraid I wouldn't wear them. Well, I wore them for the first time this week. I think I did A-OK with my outfit!

Really enjoying your videos. Please make a video for women who have gray or white hair. So often our faces are washed out and we need help to address that. Also, there are colors that probably don’t do us any favors. I think brown and beige may be two of them. Thanks for considering this topic.

The only thing I would change out is the white ankle boots, I think they shorten the leg too much with dark trousers but that’s a minor thing. 🤗 I'm only minimalist in the sense I've paused on purchases. Not planning to acquire more items (unless something needs replacement), but I also refuse to reduce my "hoard" bcos it's hip. 😭Have far too many regrets over donating a staple or statement piece that suits my taste/body/lifestyle/climate/etc. simply bcos I'm not wearing it at this moment.
😖Talk about aspirational: In my life, I've bought some truly Winter weight gear (like lined wool trousers, a heavy tweed blazer, & sweaters) that only ever work for me in my location on rare 🥶 days (or when I head out for a ⛄snow day slightly outside the greater LA area or 🛩️travel to places like you mentioned). 🤣Ruthlessly pared down this specific stock, but decided it's worth it to store a 🖐️handful of items I only wear a few times a year at most.
😬Now instead of being tempted to buy seriously cosy clothes, I try hard to turn to the fashion world to live vicariously through influencers in 🌬️colder climates that clearly don't struggle w/body temperature regulation🥵.
🌤️Plus, SoCal (maybe AZ too) "winter wear" is considerably more lightweight than the rest of the US.🌡️If the mercury drops⬇️ to 50°F or lower, I find it more economical to add more layers. Anything too thick & heavy has a short shelf life here. Silk long johns under standard trousers can bring needed warmth on a more chilled day w/o adding unnecessary ⬅️bulk➡️.
💙Do love the notion of Capsules for 🧳 travel, a particular purpose (like work👩🏫), or a 🍁season❄️. 🤔Think it is a clever & creative way to shop trends & 🔄 rotate my closet for coordinating looks.
🤩Absolutely amazing how those few accessories (hat, wrap, scarf, shoes, & purses) seriously ⬆️upped your 💫glamour💫 quotient. That reversible bag is brilliant too. Not a big pattern person, but animal 🐾 print, tartan, & check call my name 📛!
😍Loved your color palette...
🖤Black is my 💪power color. Adore olive🫒 green, esp. paired w/black (navy or red🍒). Both gray & white are my neutrals.
🍫Chocolate browns are another staple in my closet. This color can be delicious for me, but style is more tricky. I tend to pick items that lean toward soft/glamour/classic vs earthy/masculine/utilitarian. The latter grouping of garments in brown tends to make me feel frumpy dumpy😑.
🐪Whole-heartedly agree that camel is such a sexy classic, but I personally can't do any earthy beige/wheat/khaki/neutral near my face😔. Prefer a lightweight khaki cargo pant over heavy chinos or jeans any day. Denim or khaki paired w/all black is fire🔥.
😉All I need to do in this capsule is swap out the camel for a darker brown〰️perhaps one closer to my brown trousers.
💭 Thought the black top & legging look w/the oversize camel tunic vest looked very smart🤓. Liked the balance of volume. It was my fave of those pairings.
🙈 See a lot of folks here were kinda freaked😱 out about your white chunky boots, but I dig your choice🤍. Think you have superb instincts. I also admire that while you steer active classic, you take some edgy risks. 😁Sometimes you gotta throw caution to the wind, forget about leg lengthening rules, & go for it!
