i wish the game had a hard mode that really forced you to get good at the combat rather than just spamming or holding attack. so many moves, movesets, and potential combos and most things barely attack through the fight or die so fast that it doesn't matter. and the secret bosses movesets dont really let you play that way unless you want to constantly be knocked down
There are so many things that get in the way of making players want to get good at combat. You fight a lot of fodder enemies yeah, but when you do get to a tough fight, you can stay immortal using potions. Usually your signal to experiment in combat is losing an encounter badly. Winning an encounter that drags on for 20 minutes because you were down but not out for 10 just leaves players wondering if combat is supposed to be a slog.
@@lucas.lagoriaa i tried that and just found it annoying. its not like kingdom hearts where you get boosts or there's a damage floor to keep things fun and avoid doing chip damage after the first hour or so. I found a mod that made the game harder by boosting hp values of enemies a bit without being slogs and that wasn't really enough either without gimping yourself still. like the entire game genuinely needs a rebalance of enemy aggression, damage, hp, etc
@@Maxshark999 you won't do chip damage if you find good equipment, use the food system and craft powerful spells. It actually feels very balanced at level 1. And you can do side quests without being overpowered at the end.
There really should have been more fights like Aranea.. that was the only fight that took full advantage of the teleporting and movement systems beyond the dlc. This game had such potential.. still to this day I think about Versus XIII and what could have been.
I'd never seen the Melusine one before, the way she catches the flask before it explodes is really clever lol The one that always gets me though is the full party counter on the Iron Giant, which is one of the coolest moments from the E3 2013 trailer. It's hard to get but it's great that they managed to sneak it into the game in this way.
Man, we need more games where we can interrupt bosses and foes when they're preparing for super attacks or are too far for even ranged attacks by teleporting to their faces, we'd get cool stuffs like these. Thanks for the video, man. I never saw some of these when I played it, so it's a treat to see them.

@Jauder032 yes. I actually got it playing within the last year. It's very rare, and I only got it to trigger twice since 2016, but it's definitely in the most recent update of the windows edition at least.
Love that you used Ragnarok it’s my favorite blade in the whole FF universe! (Well besides Masamune, Excalibur, Ultima Blade, or in this game’s case Balmung)
I'm terrible for triggering parry or acting on the trigger (especially for Cerberus) so I would never have seen any of these! Thanks for sharing! That Adamantoise parry...Noct lent his royal arms to his friends and they teleported with him! Way cool
The mystic has a unique parry animation when you warpstrike him from behind and you can also get some weapon variations when you warpstrike him in the air
Dude you missed the group parry against Ifrit, where Ignis and promto trip him, then Gladio smacks him with and axe for noctis to land the final blow. Unless that was scripted and I forgot ?
I didn't know noctis and aranea has mid air animation 🤯 that was epic...now if only the DlC turned into book would've became dlc indeed would be more epic
People say the combat is 'terrible', and most of the guys who play this game can't parry at all and just button mash. Who knew the skill ceiling had to be made for the average and lower levels. It is not for the adequate and prominent.

Do a level 1 playthrough. Its worth, trust me.

Hard mode is not buying items or using healcasts. Watch how fast you start burning through your scavanged potions and elixirs its rough

This game was really good just lacking a hard mode really brought the game down. I remember playing at Level 1 and the game was actually challenging.

Tbf once you get high level you can usually beat enemies so quick they dont get a chance to do this
