Residents call on Mayor Gwamanda to resign

- Some Johannesburg civil society groups are calling for Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda to resign.
They are accusing him of failing to effectively lead the city out of the major disasters that Johannesburg has experienced in recent months.

Gwamande must definitely go. SA does not need any more rubber stamps or puppets. Gwamande is not educated for this position, he should at least be a graduate town planner or civil engineer. He does not have a clue what he's doing and is only there for the money. He is a deployed cadre and totally incompetent. His management of the fire disaster and loss of lives was as catastrophic as the fire event itself. At that time he should have stepped down gracefully. But because he knows he's unemployable for any similar position, he's holding onto his fat salary in this one. This scenario is typical in Africa, you want to know why things go wrong? Here's a perfect example. All the wrong people in highly demanding jobs.
This is a very dirty city when I visited Joburg. I couldn't believe it seeing it in that state and I had in that city for 16 years until 2010 when I left its very unhygienic to live in Joburg
I am a resident here in Johannesburg, I been outside and don't see people calling him to step down. Who are these residents?

We are fixing our own roads all over but yet we are paying property rates. I support the work that these residents associations. I want to be part of it. We need to rise up Johannesburg residents. This thing Gwamanda is nonsense. He must just go.....
Sa public worker they get paid for free and our govement now about this essue but they do nothing because is there family and friends working for govement and we pepleo need that job we can not get those job,because of family deployement
I live in Johannesburg, as disappointing as the condition of the city is, I don’t think any of it is due to him.
I get your point but as the current mayor he's responsible for making sure everything is in order.
Imagine the President saying it's not my fault while doing.
I do think Joburg people have n much to complain about since it was announced that some maintenance was being done. Keep it mind that some people in this very country lack access to water and sanitation.
GET NIGERIANS OUT FIRST THEN CLEAN THE AREA.
In a real democracy the people would be able to fire the mayor, not call for the mayor to resign. Sadly, real and true democracy does not currently exist - anywhere...
Mayor Gwamanda, get this right that there are PUBLIC HEALTH LAWS. The whole of EGOLI is rotten. You should have closed those buildings and remove people , you have law to apply. You cannot keep people in rotten buildings and you pretend not to be aware. I am afraid you have done nothing. Hamba tata , hamba goduka ngoku kuhlwile.

We are 22months from the next local elections. The same residents will complain about instability and the revolving door of Mayors. Gwamanda and GLU have done well in this City. Its Tshwane that needs immediate change. But i believe a deal has been reached between Lesufi and Mashaba
