I cannot believe that CBS really thinks we're this stupid.
The orgiastic Jew-killing was accompanied by shouts of “Allahu Akbar” - “Allah is the greatest” - a victory cry of defiance and determination. Hamas is and always has been a jihadist organization that sees the existence of the State of Israel as an intolerable intrusion into the Domain of Islam (“Dar al-Islam”) and is committed to removing it by whatever means it takes. As the Hamas Charter records, “Allah is its target, the Prophet is its model, the Koran its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes.”
Hamas, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, does not represent all Palestinians, let alone all of Islam. But its success on October 7 has incited the passions of many in the broader Arab and Muslim world and has greatly strengthened the Islamist reading of the Arab-Israeli conflict as a Muslim-Jewish one.
This reading, far from new, differs from most mainstream attempts to understand and resolve the conflict. The West sees the problem as political and territorial in nature. It is that. But for Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and their sponsor, the Islamic Republic of Iran, it is primarily religious, and at its heart is the annihilationist fantasy of ending the Jewish state by killing as many Jews as possible. The goal is not a two-state solution but the Final Solution. October 7 was an extravagant rehearsal of a larger, genocidal drama.

The first thing you need to understand that is that you will never be able to fully understand what Palestinians have been going through for decades. Most of them never had, or never will have, a normal life. Hence, you shouldn't even think about pushing your morality on peace and violence on them. Not saying your stance is objectively bad, even if I don't agree with it. When a person is kept in an open air concentration camp, and witness apartheid towards their people for years, is orphaned because of your oppressor, and have nothing to live for, they will, inevitably, pick up arms. And Im confident to say that in a situation like that, you probably will too.

CBS News released a video where I could hear more but it seems like this channel puts what they want others to hear and cut out the places that will not be to their benefit.

Clearly fake. One can tell due to how the Hamas "commander" is keeping his words so short and simple, almost as if he wants people to have a narrow minded idea: the typical Western Orientalist view. Actual interviews with real Palestinian fighters would have been more longer and nuanced, with them talking about the history of Israeli atrocities, Israeli unwillingness to recognize the Palestinian state (Israel made use of clever word games to skirt around recognition of the state by saying it recognized the West Bank authority as a representative in the Oslo Accords) as well as other forms of oppression that they employ on Palestinians. The fact that all that is not there despite how Palestinian groups have routinely tried to mention those indicates that this video is faked.

Yes, there is a Hamas presence in the west bank. They are not in control the way they were in Gaza, but they still have numerous cells and a substantial following.
Hamas in the west bank did not participate to any substantial extent in the October 7 atrocities. I don't know why - maybe because it's harder for them to organize and arm themselves because of the Israeli presence, maybe the Gaza leadership was just concerned that the plans would leak. One way or another, though, they are part of the same organization and share an ideology. So I think it's legitimate to interview a Hamas member in the west bank regarding October 7.

He published a record of his text messages with Ghazi Hamad, a Hamas leader, starting from October 7 through the end of October, when Hamad ceased communicating with him. The messages basically come across as Baskin desperately trying to negotiate a prisoner exchange (not that he had any authority to do so) and Hamad playing him like a fiddle. And at the end Baskin still refuses to acknowledge that he has been played, saying only that "this is not the Ghazi Hamad I knew".

They were legit KICKED OUT of their homes- like in the Farhud in 1941 the jews in iraq were tortured, killed, robbed etc. and DRIVEN OUT to Israel.
