Do one on the most successful pirate in history, a Chinese female pirate who commanded over 1,800 ships and 80,000+ men - Ching Shih. Robert Maynard: The Officer Who Killed Blackbeard
DillyDyson007 Blackbeard, Calico Jack, Black Sam Bellamy, and Francois L’Olonnais, and now Henry Every are the pirates that have been done.
I'm near Cape Cod, we have a Pirate legend, Capt. Samuel Bellamy, he took to the Pirate life seeking his fortune so he could claim the hand of his fair Maria. He chased the English slave ship "Whyddah" for 3 days, finally over taking her. The legend says over 60% of Capt. Bellamy's crew were men bound for sugar plantations or Indigenous Peoples who preferred the Sea to European dominance.
April 26th 1717, off Wellfleet, Mass. in 30 ft of water, a Nor'easter ran the Whyddah aground.
I like Sam. he didn't seem to run around killing.
As soon as I saw The King of Pirates in the title I checked the comments for One Piece reference before even watching the video. Very satisfied! 😌
As a Plymothian I'm surprised I've never heard of him, but I suppose when you're up against Sir Frances Drake, Robert Falcon Scott, Tom Daley and Dwwn French there's a lot to compete with...
* Sees concept art from Uncharted 4 on the thumbnail *: ah, a channel of culture.
Simon, my favorite remark has to be Pirates don't get participation trophies! May I use it as a bumper sticker. I love your presentations you are a very talented presenter and so I say thank you.
Could you do Gen. Jack “Black Jack” Pershing? I feel like WWI is forgotten by too many Americans
Plus his life was really interesting including how he got his nickname by leading Black troops alongside Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War. You could also talk about when he lead an army into Mexico to try and hunt down Pancho Villa, and how he was a mentor to many US WWII Commanders such as Eisenhower, Bradley, Patton, George Marshall, Leslie McNair, and Douglas McArthur
"J am a man of fortune & J must seek my fortune"
- Henry Avery 1994
Uncharted 4 Fans: So he is real!
Thankfully this guy has a good editor.
Benjamin Hornigold next for a pirate bio?
Do one on the most successful pirate in history, a Chinese female pirate who commanded over 1,800 ships and 80,000+ men - Ching Shih. The Red Flag Fleet under her rule went undefeated, despite multiple attempts by the Portuguese navy, the Chinese government, and the East India Company to vanquish it. She retired by making a deal with the government, lived to enjoy her riches, and died at an old age.
Damn that's impressive. This is the first time I ever heard of her.
@@TheItalianTrash I was shocked when I learned about her too. It's surprising how there's basically no coverage of her while Blackbeard & friends are covered so extensively.
@@samfong4658 I'm not too surprised. Ching Shih simply falls outside of Western Culture. Most US citizens are taught a Eurocentric and romanticized history of piracy that only took place in the Caribbean during the early 18th century.
But what devil fruit did he use? Or was he a haki user solely?
Clearly a master of Conqueror’s
Here because of the Oden flashback damn man roger gained everything and laughed.
"what do we do with a drunken sailor? what do we do with a drunken sailor? earl-y in the morning..."
Abraham Lincoln is just chillin out @7:26
The most successful pirate or outlaw is the one that gets away.
World: "EVERY!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!?!"
Henry Every: *Under Patrick's rock*
Who else listened to the whole thing without hearing a word ol mate was saying? 🤣
nice work. very thorough.
