Never hear a car owner say that before!
I believe that ding you heard upon holding short before takeoff was the traffic annunciator when that crj was coming in.
VerShaun Terry sub to me I sub to you
Your X-Plane videos are great. Please do more with the Citation.
Jeff, thanks again for jumping in and testing what looks to be another great aircraft from Carenado. Cheers!
I would be really happy to see you play any of the plane combat simulators like IL-2,DCS and more.
I flew one of these real world ... its like a big 172 with turbines ... on approach over the field throttles to Flight Idle at 50 ft always gives an awesome landing
The trim is in a noes up trim position when placed in the takeoff box. It’s assuming you loose a engine on takeoff and the trim and control forces will be very close to a V2 climb. It’s normal in all twin engine aircraft to trim nose down after you safely takeoff.
Know this is an old video but just started flying these and wanted to see what was out there on RUclips. Usually wait until take off to turn ignitions and pitot heat on. Beautiful bird and great video!
Congrats on getting that position!
Usually you start most plane with the avionics power off so you don’t spike the electronics when the engines are spooling up. Great video though!
Lovely aircraft, one of my favourite in P3D - Wish they had included rain effects on the windshield.
Avionics is left OFF unless the engines are controlled by FADEC’s. I’ve rarely worked on CJ2’s & have never ran one but the larger Citation/Cessna jets don’t require manual boost pump ON or manual ignition on for engine start. Leaving the ignition switches in the ON position keeps the igniters popping which is typically only used for troubleshooting or for testing. (I’m assuming it’s similar to the larger citations). It’s cool to see Citations in a flight sim & the detail this provides! I’d like to see a 750 (Citation X) aka “Citation 10”. Also, unless there’s an “external power” switch or button, using external power should require the BATT switch to be turned on.
That warning on takeoff was the config warning. Make sure flaps are in the TO position (which they were) and the trim is in the TO position
At 6:50 engine start, this Citation II is not modeled correctly. You cannot start an engine just by pushing the engine start button (the large white round button). You have to bring the throttle out of cutoff at 8-10% N2 rpm. The fact that you did not do this and the engine still started indicates the start system was not modeled correctly.
You don't need to turn on ignition and you don't need to turn on the fuel boost pumps. These will work automatically during an engine start sequence.
Here is the correct Citation II engine start sequence:
Push the engine start button. See Note 1.
At 8/10% N2, bring the throttle out of cutoff
Ignition “on” (check green light). See Note 2.
First Officer calls: "FUEL BOOST ON"
First Officer calls: "FUEL PRESS LO" light extinguished
First Officer calls: "Oil pressure rising"
Light off within 10 seconds or abort the start
ITT max 700C for 2 seconds. If higher abort the start
N1 rotation by 20-25% N2 or abort the start
38% N2 starter cut out. See Note 3.
Boost pump goes off automatically
Ignition goes off automatically
Note 1: At this time, you want to look at the top of the N1 engine gauge. Right above it is the engine instruments flood light. It should change intensity and you should be able to observe this intensity change. This happens when the engine flood lights switch over to their own battery power. This is part of the emergency lighting system. If the intensity doesn't change, most likely this flood light will extinguish. This indicates an emergency lighting system battery pack failure. You might as well abort the start...you're not going to fly today. You cannot fly without a good emergency lighting battery pack.
Note 2: When you bring the throttle out of cutoff, you need to look at the ignition panel and a green light should illuminate. This indicates the ignition is on (the ignitor plug is sparking). If you don't see this green light, the engine will not start, so you might as well abort the start as soon as you observe no green light. The engine isn't going to light off.
Note 3: At 38% N2 you need to verify starter cutout. If you don't get starter cutout, indicated by the big white round start button light remaining illuminated, just push the Starter Disengage button. You don't have to shutdown the engine as long as the starter disengages, manually in this case.
In the training world, on an engine start, the First Officer only calls three items and nothing else. If anything else abnormal happens, the instructor will expect the PIC to notice it, call it out and take corrective action.
As an FYI, the two things almost all Citation II pilots fail to observe during initial pilot training in the simulator is (1) the green ignition light coming on during the engine start and (2) observing the emergency flood lights are still working during the engine start sequence.
Seems like they corrected this with an update - you have to move the throttle now to get it to start
VIDEO REQUEST. Fly the Flight Factor 767-300 with winglets. While in the air, do a series of performance testing, such as low speed stall, low speed stall recovery, high speed stall, high speed stall recovery, one engine flight etc like what test pilots do. Then land at nearby airport using autoland. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT EVEN BETTER, fly the A320 after the 767, and do the SAME testings so compare fly by wire vs no fly by wire, all in one video. That would be AWESOME. PLEASE and thank you, BEST sim RUclipsr!! :D
zszs100 Airbus would never let you stall
@@fighterace284 Yup which is why he should test fly it and do a fly by wire demonstration. Semi modern (767) vs modern (a320)
Carenado in a nutshell
Good models
Good flight dynamics
Not a good systems
Coming from a P3d user who switched to x plane
Thanks for the X-Plane videos Jeff, I’m loving them!
Keep it coming man! Great vids. Started watching the American Truck Sim vids as well
Even for a visual approach, shouldn't dip below glideslope. If you cross the threshold at ref you'll hit the touchdown zone (-250/+500ft)
Love you and your videos
Absolutely love the format of your videos.
Recently moved from southwest Florida to Houston Texas, i miss RSW i loved how detail the airport you downloaded is.
I ligit just saw this plane take off here; n Jamaica nmia airport. She's a beauty and it gets up and goes
I feel bad for not watching the x-plane videos. So I'm going to actually watch one.
Very nice and detailed aircraft. Carenado really hit this one out of the park.
Sweet as. I got the C2J for FSX from them, now I have XPlane and am getting comfortable and loving it, will get this one for sure. It's a great step up for me, as I really enjoy the C2J. Great vid. Thanks.
Is there any chance that you could make a preflight and routing tutorial video? There is no good tutorial out there at the moment and it would be awesome if you could explain the process from beggining to end... Maybe a couple of vids if it´s too much to put into one?
Pls thumb this up so Jeff can see this!!
Anyway, love your videos mate! Cheers from Argentina!!
Agreed....one of the best from Carenado. I love this aircraft. I wish the GTN750 was compatible with Navigraph.
I didn't understand why there were so many people wanting this aircraft in Xplane. Okay, now I get it. I'm a believer now.
19:59 have to make sure the NAV is on GPS mode
Can you do a takeoff in a snowy airport
lol if youre ITT passes 450 its already a hot start, i think you just burned the turbine 😅😅
I’m buying that right now
Hey man keep up the good work really enjoying the vids
KDAB, you must be at ERAU huh?
Single thrust reverse is very often used to keep steady speed when taxi
Very informative. Love watching your channel as you break down what you’re doing very well. Really demystifies each aircraft.
You should do a helicopter simulator episode. That would be cool.
Can you do more flight sim and maybe find a Cessna 421 to fly
When you were landing on runway 7L at Daytona if you look at your 11 o’clock position you can see Daytona International Speedway
34:10
he said this multiple times in the video....
GPS wasnt working because you're in VLOC mode you need to switch to GPS
Correction Jeff, In ref to the "Flaps control wheel" I meant to say: The Electric Elevator Trim not properly set for takeoff. This will cause the master warning light to come on.
Landing replays are back! Sweet, good stuff man
My heart will be with that lionair flight that plunged into the sea earlier.
Great video Jeff
Your the best RUclipsr
wow great landing! that landing was smoother then my airline experience in real life xD
19:55 me yelling to the screen that your CDI is on VLOC not on GPS :D I'm sure you will notice it soon ;D
@ 16:45 it's a beech 200
Hey you should fly to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport
I wish there were extra liveries for that aircraft.
Make one!
you should fly to bozeman Int in the citation.
Jeff when you do LSPDFR can you be Bad cop please
Nice flight review. One comment from an "old jet driver"...work on a stabilized approaches. Stabilized (speed, power, and configuration) from at least 500 AGL VFR/ 1,000 AGL IFR. Good approaches and safe landing start with stable approaches.
For Autopilot you need to click NAV/HSI.
Hi Jeff, The reason the master warning light came on during takeoff roll was because of your Flaps control wheel being removed from the (TO) takeoff position. Read the checklist....
I live the general aviation vids man
SWFL INTL, my home city baby
Starting to look at this simulator stuff. How do you know location of switches and how the systems work? I have a pilots license but only experience with steam gauges.
Very nice plane, gotta get it! Great vid.
Steven Favignano another Favignano??
@@ellonysman Jeff's Dad.
Father? Is that you.
Hey Jeff I think you might of had the fuel boost pumps off. The switch should be down most citation down is where the switch normally should be in normal operation
The site for the aircraft is really good.
Btw, that capeair plane is really nice in the background!
Love that citation there’s one of those at the Cessna factory in Wichita that may still have a flight plan that I created air venture in the FMC they’re beautiful aircraft they really are and from what I’ve heard from charter pilots I’ve talk to the handle like gems so there’s that
PC specifications please? Looks like butter on your device 😍
FlyJAirways subtomeisubtoyou
It's on his "about" on his channel page
Dean White Ahh okay thanks!
I clicked because the mystical dragonfly
Can you please put the link where to get the checklist for this aircraft in the comments? Thank you
I, like many in here, have never engaged in a flight sim style of game but am fascinated by them thanks to these videos. I have an iMac desktop, pretty standard (sorry, not tech savvy). Is that enough to play this game, or do you need some kind of super gamer computer to play the game?
Probably not to the level that Jeff has, no. Your best chance would be to install bootcamp or parallels (ideally bootcamp) so you can run Windows on your Mac and install the X-Plane 11 demo to see how well it does.
@@cx-wskitch4552 Thanks. I've had the demo on my iMac for a while and it seems to do well.
You'll be able to play, but won't be able to have the graphics turned up. No biggie, if that's not what you're going for anyway.
Is there any falcon jets in this game like the 8x,7x,900LX
5:50 10,000 feet, you better be on an IFR flight plan to the east
Florida doesn't follow standard east/south flight levels, we use north/south
IRL you don't start up with Avionics on to protect them from power spikes.
Can you play Tower 3D in Memphis pleaseeee you main dude
Why would 30 viewers give this a 👎🏼 down? Because it isn’t arcade mode? Or cuz there’s no swords Or monsters? Or fighting samari killers? Oh well🤷🏻♂️
so i just got x plane 11 and my first flight i take of and instantly hit a flock of birds and it shut my engines down and i crashed landed. XD XD
Bugger
love your vids bro
Youve got the warning on takeoff because your flaps where not in TO mode.
Or the trim not in TO position, was the "no TO config" warning
Yes we had flaps I even had a text on screen explaining what the problem was
Love RSW, both Latin VFR and in IRL
This is amazing love it
Good you were thinking about ground crew, that's cool.
Warning.... No flaps set? It looked like you took off with 0 flaps
No I took off with 7 degrees, I showed it on the taxi out and explained after the outside shot
@@jfavignano Sorry, missed it.
hes happy to fly this plane in x plane 11 i wish i played this game in real life
M DUDE Dude To have an enjoyable experience in the game you’ll need a pretty beefy (and expensive) PC and mods for graphics and utilities which are heavy on CPU. Plus the accessories needed to actually fly the plane well. And this game is quite realistic and aviation is very difficult and overwhelming at first, to learn all the controls, correct terminology etc etc.
@RANCH SAUCEThanks. I try to tell my friends that, but they fail to understand it's a learning aid and flight sim, the aerodynamics behave as close as possible to real world aircraft and the models advanced features and graphics do a great job at matching the actual aircraft. It is only a game if you treat it like one, and have point system, which is dumb as shit in my opinion.
Also do you use a flight stick?
Oh i wish my landings were that smooth. Jeff or anyone reading this know if the Carenado C340 II is any good? Looking for a twin engine prop.
love this jet
Jeff do you play Infinite Flight?
Jeff is the boi
Nice video
Do an episode with a airbus 380
@Jeff Favignano I'm trying to get into a flight sim and would like your opinion on the best one. If you could help, it'd be greatly appreciated.
xplane 11 for sure!
Honestly disconnecting the GPU on the citations isn't that bad. Now metro2s however.
I used to disconnect GPUs from Metros haha. Nothing like having your head next to a prop at that RPM
Nice Tutorial. I bought myself the S550 today and flew from Friedrichshafen to Stuttgart (in Germany). The Plane is so powerfull that i don't got a minute to enjoy the outview. It felt like i landed right after departing. I think, with this plane, Carenado have done everything right. The taxiing is smooth, the takeoff is fully controllable and the approach is good to handle. The plane slows down when you need it. I think the VRef is 93, so you have a little more maneuvering space. I also got the TBM 900 - which is perfectly modeled - but i like the Citation more.
The one thing i missed is the VNav vertical navigation which this plane is equipped with. Do you got this to work?
I want to buy king air but my mom cessna
So I just bought
Optiplex i7 2.93Ghz (Turbo 3.45Ghz)
Quad Core (8 Threads)
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Bus
230GB SSD
500GB HDD
GTX 1060 3GB (had this waiting)
I'm hoping to have nicer FPS
Currently running
Mac Pro
8 core 2.8Ghz
16GB Ram 800Mhz bus
512GB SSD
GTX 680 2GB
Normal FPS is 15-25 HDR
Waiting for all my stuff to show soon
So I can finally up my specs and be around 40+FPS or more
Will be installing
Windows 10
David Rosario yes
@@a.x.e.l.c2817 will try to record the process. Just follow me and let me know what you will think. I also have a small flight around the world. I still need to finish
For some reason GA or regional doesn't interest me. Still a pretty nice looking plane.
Really nice presentation of the Carenado S550 Citation 2.I Like the Video👍 On the other side there are very low graphic settings.Isn´t it? Greetings from Germany😉 Directix
You never fly planes fast😢
Jeff, how/where do I get the voice callouts you have in your Citation, for decent?
Hey Jeff, I know it's a bit late, but you forgot to set the NAV mode to GPS before you took off.
The flight dynamics of carenado planes arent quite realistic. Thats the issue with their planes
Can someone send me a link to the garmin 750
Verry nice,I do like that seven fifty.
