Glad to hear that Vanguard is thriving in Japan. I feel like it's dying in the west, especially when TCGPlayer replaced the Vanguard tab with Digimon and now Vanguard is in the Other tab.
Sad day that was
i’d love to see you make either a series or a completely separate channel for more vlog-style and more general anime content. would be interesting to get your takes on non-vanguard topics
My life is legit all research, food and card games so honestly vlogs like this are probably the best bet haha, otherwise if I film anything generic it would maybe go on my second channel (link in description)
@@DifferentFight either way it’s a nice addition, best of luck 👍🏽
@@DifferentFight wait I can't see the link of your 2nd channel
Super chill vibes with you walking around your favorite areas of Japan while talking about tcgs in general. Going to need 1000 more like this! Shine on!
I appreciate this video a lot, with certain online communities i've been around and current ongoing trends it was easy to feel down about Standard at times, but this has lifted my spirits and reminded me that all three formats of Vanguard can be great in the right circumstances and situations. Listening to this whilst seeing the bright outdoors of Japan, I remember that what isn't fully important is what people online say, and what is important is how me and the friends I enjoy the game with feel!
I've been missing FRFs since you moved to Japan, but I can understand that you are too busy for them. I would however love to visit Japan someday and experience what you have been for myself, because from the things you've shown, I can totally see why you've been enjoying the game as much as you have!
So I guess this is a thank you for always putting up good Vanguard content no matter where you are in life, i've stuck with this game for as long as I have because I had content creators like you to follow along the game with, so thank you again for all that you do! -BudgetDeku
As someone who joined at the start of D format, I absolutely love this game. It’s going from strength to strength and I’m excited for this years products and events!
Every format has it's appeal but standard is my favorite
This is a pretty cool video format tbh.
Spacing information/thoughts with good scenery and fun stuff like the birds was cool.
I really like this video because it gives a new perspective about the game, that its not just about the game mechanics and all but also how the player feels about the game. More videos like this like a shop vlog or smthn :D
Kris, that was very comfy to watch. I'd love to see more of the: "I'm walking around, talking about different thoughts."-Vlogs.
Damn, really like this video format a ton! Definitely keep doing this more often!
Loving Standard as that and the anime brought me back playing for real as:
1. My hometown had zero peeps interested in the cardgame so it was not worth investing for me to buy an actual deck
2. Got disinterested when late G era and V era came along
3. The obvious one was the pandemic
When my friend showed me the stuff from Standard and the new anime I got hooked and decided to play it. Didnt expect my friend to buy me the Youthberk trial deck for my birthday XD
So rn we're having a small but slowly growing group in my area to bring back vanguard and lucky enough to have a local hobby shop owner interested to bring it back.
And for the video game, its hella enjoyable and kept playing for hours to this day especially trying out different decks.
My only two issues is just Dear Days is pricy and same goes for Youthberk XD
Other than that, I love standard
Playing dear days it makes me sad the overfear of the OT made a lot of my card group stop playing. Standard's quite a lot of fun with some pretty unique strats like the Glitter units or a different spin on old units like Minerva. Hope to be back playing after an irl 6 year pause soon.
I mean if they just ban the OT then those players will return, easy solution
Well if they ever wisen up and ban the OT maybe some of us will come back
Same, OT is not fun to win or lose from
Even without the overtrigger there's still the fear of a double or triple critical trigger.
I miss living in Japan. The views were always soothing when you had a rough day.
This was a nice video. I really like when your videos also work for listening only. Thanks!
Think my personal fav format is V. So many diverse strategies to enjoy casually, and I love every moment of it.
I love you so much for pointing out the Fuji building. I hope to go there some day.
Love this format, wish you did more of it !
Really appreciate this video. I really enjoy Standard (and I enjoy all the formats, they have their ups and downs and it really just depends on the banlist), but my two best friends really don't like Standard and it makes me sad, but thankfully my local standard scene is still pretty healthy and there are a lot of people there who enjoy the format so I still get plenty of time to play the format and try out many different decks (I own way more standard decks compared to the other formats, i have like 11 decks for it lol)
d format in 2022 was jus insanely fun. also loved the video style of vloging with birds
really loved this kind of video would love to see same kinda videos keep up the good work
You should make a few fun videos like a tier list ranking all the vanguard animes/series/seasons. And maybe an openings one to. I think that could be pretty cool.
i really like standard especially with the bruce deck i have that was bought for me as a gift, but i believe my time in the hot sand will be with the chronojet stridedeck. have it preordered at my local card shop in usa
Odaiba is still bae. Comiket gave me an excuse to spend two evenings walking around Odaiba enjoying life and Christmas eve spent there was so good too! Highlights of my time living here so far.
On the standard front I really wish it wasn't a language barrier thing for me at this point. 😬
Finally back in a country that plays and its like I don't know what to do. 😂
Love this video, keep the good job boss👍
Thanks for such a amazing vlog video. Plz go to Akihabara that would be awesome. Favorite Format definitely Standard because of Brandt Gate Prison Eva and soon the new Robo ride line. Long live D Format!!!!
Everytime I hear somebody talk about the different level between West and JP it makes me want to travel to see how far I can get to push the letter with the west style
Love the vlog would like to see more if your up for it
This was a nice video, thanks.
I was in Odaiba a couple of years ago at that exact spot!
Standard is my favorite format and bastion has become my favorite unit of all time. It's a simple to play deck but I love playing with grade 3's and having to maneuver around the weakness and strengths of that.
D is fun. At first I only played V and Pre, now I am having a bunch of BG deck :)
This video is the V Format of DifferentFight videos
I'm really not sure which format is my favorite since I really enjoy all of them, but Standard is the one I play the most since it's what my locals does the most.
I gotta say though, I've enjoyed every Vanguard format significantly more since the start of the D era. V era was kinda rough because of the design team that kept powercreeping the format every set, but the D era design teams for every format have really been knocking it out of the park.
Let's walk over Akihabara. I mean of course it's gonna be full of people. Might be too much pressure anyway, but I'd love to see some vids or pics of the atmosphere nowadays.
Honestly since I came back around set 4/5 it really has been feeling like D has a lot to explore and refine with unconventional Strats often winning out against people who just never adapt their game plan. It's really been fun.
THE VLOG VIDEO IS REAL
Let's see your entire cardfight vangaurd collection
honestly D is a really good format, it has its things i dislike but is fun and is refreshing if you want something new to play, i main bavsargra in D and overlord for V
I mean from what I played of Standar I like it. Is a more simple version of Vanguard with some spicy new techs here and there, and the overtrigger didn't bottered me at all. My only big gripe is that the game ain't exactly budget friendly when it comes to upgrading your decks
My main issue with standard is how out of your hands it feels, there's not enough defensive power so it feels like there's very little you can do except pray you have enough guard in hand to live the high power turns decks put out. Triggers feel extremely impactful so it always feels like games are just dependent on being lucky enough to see them yourself and not have them hit against you.
As a Lyrical main I'm also still disappointed at how they're handling the clan, we're getting too many ride lines that aren't impactful enough and not seeing enough support for the older lines that actually feels impactful to it outside of g4 kairi. It just feels like we get the one decent deck every set that quickly falls out of competitive favor because the main sets get updated more often and lyrical isn't getting enough strength to having staying power in the meta in between sets. (kairi was the exception to this with set 2, but she's now fallen out of favor even with the upgrades set 3 brought with yuika).
nfts
This has a huge pewdiepie vibe and I'm all for it
Great video! I enjoy the scenery. I like V but ever since the clan collections have stopped, I don't really feel any motivation to play since I don't feel like there's been any changes. I also just think with a slower game speed with Standard, I feel like decks have an easier time being balanced. When the decks are "weaker", I feel like it takes more basic knowledge and fundamentals to win rather than just knowing all the random matches so you don't get blown up on first stride. All in all, I like the power level and Standard right now and I think everything has been balanced quite well.
While the only 2 Vanguard locals I have in Arizona only offer Standard tournaments I still favor the V format because it has Silver Thorn and Nightrose. I have been enjoying having a locals here in the west at least.
So when Silver Thorn comes out in set 8 Standard.........? :)
As much as I want to get my local group to play and enjoy standard more, some of them just have a greater connection with older units like the G era bosses and bosses that came out in V like elul as compared to D era bosses which sucks and I can’t really feel bad that I can’t do much 😢 (pls bushi just print vermillion encounter)
So Premium is my favourite format. But I joined vanguard 2 weeks before G Set 1 dropped so it's partly nostalgia.
V was rough for me, I ended up quitting before Quick Shields came out & took a break from the game until standard got revealed.
Standard I tried a few times but always drifted to Premium but partly because I coundln't get a deck I actively enjoyed (& Promo issues kept me locked out of trying a lot of decks).
People hate them but Encounter Cards are really good for bringing back old players into Standard. Maelstrom isn't actively good but I've designed a deck with Tidal in the ride line which I've loved playing on CFA. When it comes out in English I'll give Standard another try.
THE VLOG
THE VLOG IS REAL(?)
I really want to visit japan. From the US. I know very little Japanese. Would i be able to visit and join a tournament if im not fluent and have english cards ?
I havent played premium or v premium. But standard has been super fun. The other formats are a bit too convoluted and alot of people talking about complexity. But sometimes thats not always a good thing. Ease of play is one of my big draws to games. But alot of western players of any game feel like they prioritize on how to break something and make it busted. If the promos werent super expensive i would definitely play more standard. Dear days has been my best friend in that regard
I have things I like and dislike about all the formats but for me I rank them like V, D and premium.
My only problem with standard is if you like your fun decks they can't compete with the decks that just get more drive checks out of it. Triggers matter so much in Standard that I feel like being sacked hurts more in Standard
it does, in the og era 5k trigger vs 10 or 11k vanguard was roughly half power added, but 10k trigger vs 12 or 13k hurts a lot more (or 100M trigger, ugh)
akihabara plz
I agree with your thoughts! People really underestimate how fun and complex D is.
Based DF
Standard is my favorite format because it introduced Hexaorb.
Hopefully they don’t change the format again even if the cartoon pwotwagonist changed (unlikely tho)
Enjoyed the vlog format do more things like this i like seeing outside views
I’d like to get Dear Days so that I can play this format. Does anyone think we’ll get these newer sets in the game at all?
They're going to be released slowly over the year starting in February, with one set per month, it's really slow but Furyu is dumb like that
I just started D recently and you were so right I wish I could have started sooner despite having no locals
remote fight is so fun and making new friends I love standard and still going toe to toe against other decks with a bav trial deck
I will say I have genuinely enjoy Standard a lot more then I did during V series (I still play all formats ) but
I love some of the decks introduced in OD and introduced my new favorite deck youthberk
I've been playing vanguard for a long time. I fell off around G came back for V but fell off again but have been really enjoying D since it came out a lot
I've never been one for too many gimmicks in my card games or if it has gimmicks they are easier to keep track of and D has been doing it for me while still keeping the strategy and timing aspect that I love
Standard could definetly use new control effects focused bosses (even if I use rear guard overly reliant decks), the multi attack is everywhere and underpowered 3 swing 2 crit bosses are getting kinda too many I guess. (I do like a lot standard though)
I love the way you mentioned Standard being the format that makes you feel enough of VG's charms cuz thats exactly how I feel about it as well. There's room for serious consideration in every move, where a single open counterblast or extra rear or hand card will decide the game because of how the game branches off from those decisions. Especially considering peoples opinions of Standard have just felt hyper-critical of late, having an honest and earnest piece in support of the format means a lot!
I'm still torn between standard and premium, since I like shenanigans as much as clean gameplay, so yeah, V is the only one that can SMC.
Perspective is everything. And in a social experience like playing games together, going with the flow is powerful. I personally love Standard. Luckily I'm in an area that enjoys Standard more than other formats. Hopefully other people in the West pick up on it too.
If anything brought my to Japan, I would probably be Vanguard.... or Gundam. Those builds are amazing.
I like D, but V is the fun format imho. But V gets supported so little. I wish D had more than just persona ride and more sentinel types to free up more deck space, but eh. It's just _too_ standardized imho, glad they're bringing Aqua Force and Messiah back tho. That shit was dope, lol. That said, Orfist and Draj are what I enjoy playing the most atm, and I'm building Eredogrema and Gramgrace when they drop
Kris, can you make another market watch video like the one you did 6 years ago please? (Was great btw) Because I think the community market is bad again, even in europe this time, and it's getting really out of hand...
Kris doing a VLOG no way this has to be a dream
Standard is chad format
Standard my fav too. My personal community is biggest with it and most hype for it. Also the fact that when i wanna play the other formats people are way too sweaty. Whereas in standard i can play a meme deck and just have fun.
After playing Dear Days a ton recently I think Standard is really fun. Really the only time I felt like certain build ideas were straight up outclassed was when I made Ghosts and then dropped them for Kairi because she's just more consistent and better return for essentially the same strategy. Course I haven't tried everything yet but it's still the most fun I've had in a card game in years
I'll play Vanguard again when they ban the OT
haha, same xD
I think Standard is amazing.
Casually its literally perfect. Competitively I think it's really close.
It just feels really hype to play all the time, your plays do matter, and having a ride deck makes deck building insanely unique and fun.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I think more people should share their love for Standard, it's in a really good spot and I personally think it's really accelerating compared to what V brought when it came out.
I think Premium can be insanely stressful, and almost too much sometimes. While it is a great format, it is so much easier to even bring decks and set up your mat when facing folks when playing D. I love the simplicity of just throwing down the cards and going in and a lot less to worry about as well when entering competition. (:
Man's wearing t-shirt like winter season's nothing
It’s a very warm sweater 😌
@@DifferentFight I see I see
I like the diversity of V, but I like the way standard is formatted.
As someone who just recently started to play competitive Vanguard for the past 2 years, I've always played casually over the years with a bunch of some old buddies of mine making budget type decks and some weird ones as well, we didn't take the game as seriously but until recently with the Overdress series coming out decided to play competitive for once, and happy that I did, met so many great people and found a local shop that love going to in which I consider them me second family! Been loving the Standard format and yes while the other formats are cool in their own way, and some may not like change some do something about the current standard format just feels right. Some may disagree because everyone does have the right for their own opinion ( Even if their opinions are wrong lol jk ) I'm very happy that I decided to play competitive have been topping a lot at my locals often and been having so much fun with my new friends at my locals enjoying Vanguard. And if it wasn't for you DF I wouldn't have never met my new friends/family so I thank you! Because of your love and passion for this game you've given me the same passion I have now for this game! So once again I thank you for what you've done so far and keep up with the good content very much enjoyed this video and hope to see more of this kind of content more often since many like myself would love to visit JAPAN! #BrandtGateBestNation!! #EVABESTDECK :D
I kinda hate standard. Format very reliant on going first or getting persona ride and shields are nonexistent. Also while v premium cards can be used in premium, almost every card in od that isn't a mediocre common that gets +5k is locked behind a specific mediocre boss unit. The few staples are locked behind giant price walls because surprise surprise when you put 7 different decks in the same nation all those 7 decks will want to abuse the few good options in there. All this combined with the fact that we are getting very very long periods of only od revealed is making this period the least enjoyable vanguard-wise for me since luard meta.
the price creep is really getting out of hand......
Yeah and honestly standard has just made me appreciate V series more.
D series card design is so clunky and stagnant.
I get that it is to keep the ride line structure pivotal to the gameplay but when every deck has the same type of early game and you just repeat it every single game, it gets stale.
Can I play English cards where u live
Do you still believe OTs are not a well thought out mechanic?
100%, if anything I think they're the big reason why a lot of people are reluctant to play the format more which is a shame
I love Standard, but the onslaught of high rarity staples and promos is making the game so expensive to play and no one wants to play it anymore where I live :(
standard is actually the goat now,
people in the west saying premium is better because you can do anything
but what people dont understand about standard is,
you cant do anything !! (this is what so good about standard)
it is what limit you, you need to think what you play, you cant do everything at once , so that you must use your brain to play standard, because you lose your resource easily
the title: "Standard is My Fav format"
the vid format: totally not the standard
anyway, I agree that standard actually is pretty nice, but for outside of Japan I think the promo scarcity and some older staple too, really hinders what it could be
standard is just amazing and truly the best premium is not far behind tho
Tbh, I only like standard now. Premium and V just don't feel fun to me anymore outside of collecting the new version of units I used to play way back in the day. But I have no motivation to be good outside of standard
V make me g assist alot so yeah D best format
Honestly I gotta agree, Standard is a lot of fun but unfortunately standard is looked down on so heavily in the West which is what honestly keeps me away from locals a lot. It has its issues but I just don’t enjoy people hating on it
Government said in Japan that mask aren’t mandatory but I guess if you still think it’s the “norm”. Good video I liked it a lot
tbh the thumbnail was why i did not give a like this video... c'mon Kris, show us your smile :)
I mean people have always been wearing masks in Japan if they feel like they have a cold or are ill, it's not a new thing
overdress is by far my favorite format, i really enjoy V but standard is just so much fun
Vlogs would be pretty sick, helps scratch the itch of wanting to be in japan🥲
