One of the songs that made me love the Rhodes Piano. I was in 10th grade high school when this song came out, 1983. The synth interlude was exquisite. I would love to buy me a Rhodes someday. RIP Al Jarreau (1940 - 2017)
Stefano…what a touch and brilliant to bring us this lesson. Any chance you can share the chord voicings (I know a lot to ask). Simply sublime. Sei fortissmo…much respect from TO, Canada
Thank you very much for your words!! But honestly sharing voicings will take a lot of time transcribing them. But if you take a closer look Ithink that you will be able to see what I was playing
@@stefanopettirossi2859 Ciao Stefano…capito hai ragione…..just tell me at 1:14 after the Bbmajor 7 voicing and at the PICK up chord are you playing B D A in left hand and D. F# A (simple Bm7 chord?)…..cacchio!!!!

Could somebody help me out with a question here? I know David Foster played a Rhodes similar to the one in this video, but what kind of synth did he use on the part that was done on the Korg starting at 2:43? I believe it was some kind of Yamaha, perhaps a DX7, or maybe some type of Moog. I know that both "Mornin" and the DX7 first came out in 1983.
I saw an interview with Jay Graydon who produced the album and played guitar. He spoke about the use of the famous "E" model Rhodes which has a special sound, was in great demand and was used on many recordings of that era. In addition he said that the David Foster solo was performed on a Korg MS-20 synth. Looks like this gentleman is playing on a Korg Prologue which is a distant cousin and descendant in the Korg family.
Have always loved this song...Jay Graydon is my hero! I have one question, though. Where did you purchase the mod for your Rhodes? I really like how the metals blend. Thanks!
It’s not “by chance”. I accurately learn the tune, at first by ear, but then I wrote down all the correct chords and structure…. As usually jazz and pop professional musicians do…
@@stefanopettirossi2859 Beh...bravissimo!!!

Man that is awesome! I have a question...in the solo, how do you finger those ascending thirds? E C#, F# D, G E, A F#?
Thank you!🙏🏻 time has passed… honestly I don’t remeber😅 but i’ll check what I was doing… anyway thank you!
Slowing down the video I think it
Can be clearly seen…
They simply are diatonic thirds on D scale…

It was not a DX7. Sounds like an Oberheim prophet. His synth sounds very close to the one used on the recording.
