Hi, @RD 93. Surprise, we are responding! We are so glad that you find such joy in working as a care partner. We appreciate people like you so much. Keep up the good work! So…. How do you get your spouse to change their underwear when they flat out refuse????? This is my biggest problem with him. This man is the most stubborn man I have ever encountered! I have tried to divert, but he still flat out refuses. I try waiting a half hour and trying again, no dice! Hubby will much more do things for my son, but sometimes not even for him. He forgets who I am most of the time, and I also think it is a woman thing. I have an aid that comes 3 days a week from 5 to 8 pm, and he a lot of the time will do it for her tho. I am handicapped with a bad back and knee, so I get really frustrated with him. I love him so much, but really hate who he has become. Of course I realize he cannot help it, but I really need help with this issue. I can handle the rest of the stuff hard as it is, but this changing of the underwear 2 times a day is driving me nuts. Mornings are much better than night changes. I know about the sun downing, but please help with what I can do with him about this. Btw, I am 78, he is 80. Married 55 years this November. Normally. He is a very sweet and gentle man. Thank you so much
Hi, @Sharon Lee, I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to respond. It sounds like you have a very frustrating situation. I'm thinking that it might help to have you connect with one of our consultants for a free 30-minute session. 1-877-877-1671 or consult@teepasnow.com
This is probably the best episode yet for me.
Setting reasonable boundaries is a core issue for caregiving.
💜 Love you, Teepa!
