My Orthodox priest had a convert doing his life confession in front of the icon of Christ and he said the man started speaking with a voice that was not his own. My priest went to the alter and got his prayer book and read the prayers of exorcism and the man threw up on the floor and was freed from the demon.
Spoiler alert for the teaser at the end of this video! My Mom died 3 months ago, may she rest in peace. My sister-in-law, who isn't Catholic, was helping me look through and sort things in Mom's craft and holiday closet. She was asking me about some Catholic beliefs and seemed interested in learning more, and somehow the topic of the episode in the teaser came up. Just as I said that Fr. Martins had opened the music box to take out the mechanism, and there was nothing in it, music box chimes started coming from the cardboard box I was pulling out of the closet. It creeped my sister-in-law right out, but I guess I don't scare so easily, because I opened the lid of the cardboard box, took the music box out, and showed her that the mechanism was intact. But, I also knew that I had bumped the box on something as I pulled it out, and that's the moment the music started playing. So I knew it wasn't preternatural. Just purely natural. And maybe even slightly coincidental, if there is such a thing as coincidence.

My family and I have been attending an Orthodox Church for over a month now. The Orthodox priest in this episode had to go to Rome to become more educated on this. This had me wondering is there more power, authority in the Catholic Church to fight the enemy, or is it a matter of resources?
As just a RUclips user leaving a comment, take this as just my own understanding, not as an authoritative teaching. My understanding is that the Bishop has the authority in his own diocese, and he can ordain ministers to whom he will delegate tasks. The Bishops of the Eastern Orthodox Churches don't view the Latin Catholic Pope as one who has authority over them. They see Bishops as equals, unless they see a given Bishop as being in schism, and therefore excommunicate. What's probably happened in the case of this priest is that his Bishop probably sent him to where there are resources. That could only happen if there is a congenial dialogue between his Bishop and the Pope. There are ongoing dialogues with the ultimate goal of fulfilling the prayer of Jesus that we may be one as He and the Father are One.
I’m surprised he attended the Vaticans exorcism program was that a suggestion from Fr. Martins? Just figured the Orthodox priest has a particular set of his own prayers etc. Interesting…
Yeah, we do. He could have travelled to Mt Athos for this kind of training We have much much older prayers and rites for this, namely those of St's John Chrysostom and Basil the Great!
Don't read them up though. Browse them, read about them, but not them directly. They are powerful and could have an impact if read mindlessly, for they are basically a direct challenge against the devil.
always uncomfortable at large Christmas masses and I think it's for that reason Father was talking about - you just don't know what people bring in with them, particularly when people come just twice a year. For the last few years I've been going to the 7am Christmas Day mass so it's only locals and devout Catholics that go and I feel much better doing that. One year, it was so busy and so packed at the Christmas Eve Mass, I really felt an oppressive feel about the place almost suffocating, I had to leave. I'm wondering if this is what Father means?
According to Catholic teaching what is the difference between faults, defects, and imperfections? I hear and read these terms all the time but don't understand them. Do I concentrate on rooting out my faults first or do I need to do something to get rid of my defects or do I need to concentrate first on rooting out imperfections. I don't understand these things. I go to mass daily, adoration once a week, and pray my office, not consistently, but i still keep falling into mortal sin. The temptations last up to 18hrs or days and it wears me down.
