    Why doesnt expansion of alcohol push indicator (steel indicator) downward in minimum range if it can be pushed by mercury?

    • @JKeducationcentre
      @JKeducationcentre  3 года назад +3

      Sorry, somehow I missed to reply you in time.
      The density of alcohol is very less i.e. less than water (1) but the density of steel (iron) is very high (7.8), so it can not push steel but the density of mercury is very high (13.6) so, steel is pushed by mercury.

    Does the external temperature effect the density of mercury as well?

    @vandanavand8128 2 года назад

    Sir why index not fall down if alcohol contract

    • @JKeducationcentre
      @JKeducationcentre  2 года назад

      The density of alcohol is very less (0.79) than the steel index(7.8). So it cannot push the index during its expansion but the density of mercury is 13.6, so it can push the index.
