Sorry, somehow I missed to reply you in time. The density of alcohol is very less i.e. less than water (1) but the density of steel (iron) is very high (7.8), so it can not push steel but the density of mercury is very high (13.6) so, steel is pushed by mercury.
@@kingy002 No, there were a few mistakes. For example, if you might have noticed, in the beginning of this video he said that James Six 'discovered' the Six's maximum and minimum thermometer, while it should have been James Six 'invented' the Six's maximum and minimum thermometer....
The density of alcohol is very less (0.79) than the steel index(7.8). So it cannot push the index during its expansion but the density of mercury is 13.6, so it can push the index.
I'm here just one day before the science exam in SEE. This video helped a lot. Thanks!!!
thank you so much sir, i understood it better than when my teacher was teaching.
Thank you for your appreciation. There are many more videos that might be helpful if you check them out.
Hi
Kiran Sharma, thank you is an understatement.
I watched this video one day before my physics exam, and i understood the concept clearly. You teach really nice sir thank you
Welcome
Thank you! You explained it better than my textbook.
What is the purpose of keeping alcohol in right side..It can also work when right side tube is only filled with mercury??
Thank you so much sir you saved a little student.
Doubt cleared ☺️Thanks sir

Very nice explanation! Helped me a lot!
Thank you
This was the best explanation 👏
Thank you
Thanks for your Explanation ☺
Love u sir nice explanation 💟💟☺️
Thank you
Thank you so so much for this!!
Why doesnt expansion of alcohol push indicator (steel indicator) downward in minimum range if it can be pushed by mercury?
Sorry, somehow I missed to reply you in time.

@@JKeducationcentre Fun Fact: Lead is notoriously dense, but mercury is so dense, that lead can float on it!

beautifully explained
Thank you

does the alcohol on the max side contract
Though his English wasn't great it was a good explanation.
Correct
Nothing wrong with his english.

@@An_Indian. Get a life mate. That is pathetic!
how do you read the blue readings? it has the length of 10 degrees celcius
This is just the diagram to understand the basic principle but in a real thermometer, 10 degrees is further subdivided into sub-divisions.

does the device get ruined if you turn it upside down and the alcohol from both sides meet at the middle?
I think no. It is like another thermometer having a narrow tube inside it.
Finnaly u are back sir
Does the external temperature effect the density of mercury as well?
Negligible
@@JKeducationcentre Ok. Thank you sir.
Sir why index not fall down if alcohol contract
The density of alcohol is very less (0.79) than the steel index(7.8). So it cannot push the index during its expansion but the density of mercury is 13.6, so it can push the index.
Thanks to you❤️
Welcome
What's an actual temperature now
In this diagram maximum is 30 and minimum is 20
thank you!😃

How you draw maximum and minimum Thermometer
Its very easy. Looking at the diagram you can make easily. You have to be careful at two ends of the tube.
