      It's nice to finally have a close up look at these things. He also has a lovely accent and demeanour, I'd love to see more videos by him.

    why min and max thermometer kept horizontally and dry bulb and wet bulb vertically?

    • @VintageLynx
      @VintageLynx 2 года назад +1

      Because Minimum type has a metal part inside that will sink into the bulb if left vertical (5 degrees angle needed) and the Maximum one is like a fever thermometer and if left upright will lose the MAX reading over time. Wet and dry bulb are normal type thermometer and are meant to stay vertical.

    How can you make a Stevenson screen

    • @PhilJonesIII
      @PhilJonesIII Год назад

      There are a number of videos available on that, even a few websites. Not mentioned in the video: The screen must be placed at least twice as far away from the nearest tallest object. That includes trees that can pump out large amounts of water vapor while buildings tend to retain heat and radiate it when the air gets cooler.

    *Why do they still use this old 1940s technology?* Digital instruments are more acurate and less labour intensive.
