I was unable to attend the first World Championship I qualified for 15 years ago. Stipend money wasn’t paid upfront, and my family didn’t have the money to get me to the event. Having a resource like Alberto available would’ve been the difference of me getting the chance to play at a World Championship. If you have the means to go upfront, it may not be a fantastic deal, but you don’t get a kit anyway if you don’t make the event.

1:33:42 I'm convinced that this is a huge part of the "meta" that is rarely acknowledged. Azul has been saying that the meta is independent of what current discussion may swing into favor, which I agree with partially. There must be some power ranking of decks in any given format if Pokemon is a solvable game. But we don't care about that, I don't care which deck is determined to be optimal in twenty years after Jason Klaczynski looks at it as a retro format, I care about which decks I'm going to play against in two days at NAIC. And that is obviously very heavily influenced by social media and the opinions of successful players. Roaring moon ex is a great example of this, turbo moon was considered a shit deck after LAIC but then Ross Cawthon got a top 64 at Portland with it and two weeks later it's 10% of day 1 at Charlotte

No one in the Pokémon community has ever heard of a pawn shop or game stop ….. got it.
Best of 1 might not be the best to watch but it gives us more rounds so there is a larger variety of decks a player must play against and with more rounds we really find the best. Then if we have a 2nd match as back up we can just switch to that after the first is over. The only thing I think is a bit weak about our streams is killing downtime. I saw a japanese stream where they had the story of a player basically being Ash. Starting out just learning then becoming a champion.

I honestly wish they would just give us the English cards at the same time as the Japanese cards. Make our booster boxes smaller to be the exact same Japanese box sizes. We don't need 200-300 card sets every 3-4 months, that's more of a collector's thing, but this should be a game first, collector second.

Here's a way you can lose to Gardy as Bolt real fast: Turn 1 Knockout, get stamped into nothing.
The North American release months after japan cuts a lot of testing for us. By the time the set comes to NA its full sweat and you dont get to enjoy a bit of a testing phase where mistakes are made. Sure theres always changes but the hype is a bit less.
I think they cut the Manaphy also because they chose to play the klefki and it doesn’t pair well with Manaphy

Japan tournament system forcing control to play wincons is better for everyone. No one wants to get draws because control players dont know how to play their decks and burn all the round time for BS. If you want control to always be viable just go play other card games.
