What year is your fender brother
Still watching you Marty after over a decade. Only now ur found in better neighborhoods: axis t.v., RUclips Shorts,
My anxiety levels trying to tune an octave up: 📈
no you have to use a special set of Nashville tuning strings that are lighter gauge
@@MartyMusic
My bad. I didn’t realise you mentioned D’Addario making a specific set of strings.
Cheers Marty🤘🏼
@@konnermurphylikely, if the strings don't just break
@@pinio5132if the strings don’t break, the guitar will
@@M.GodfreyI had a set on my Yamaha LL6M acoustic for 3 months without any issues.
You can either buy the D’Adarrio set or get a 12-string set and use the octave strings for the 3rd - 6th strings along with one each of the 1st and 2nd strings. That leaves you with a standard 6-string set you can put on another guitar.
Nashville tuning is gold
What is nashville tuning

@@paninovevo1162 But what IS Nashville tuning???
It’s AMAZING to see how AMAZED he is learning new guitar things…
So AMAZING, literally MIND BLOWN, INCREDIBLE Nashville tuning, so AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLY MIND BLOWING.
@@chrisolley2762 YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!
Wait.. WHAT?!?
I started playing guitar when I was 13. I'm 27 now and guitar is my life passion and work. I owe a great majority of what I've learned directly to Marty. So heartwarming to see him still doing the same stuff all these years later. You're amazing Marty thank you so much.
Priceless acoustic guitar trick for recording - blend in lightly over electric, it's amazing.
Yep! Gold in the studio!
Guitar player for almost 30 years and Ive just had my mind blown
Love this short, sharing knowledge!!!
It just goes to show you that there's always something to learn. You'd think running in the circles that Krasno runs in and the accomplished player he is, he would know what Nashville tuning is. Also love what a great teacher Marty is and how excited he is to be able to show Mr. Eric Krasno something new! See you in April en la Playa Mr. Krasno!
That dude picked the most difficult way possible to explain what tuning it was in
I enjoyed the ride
As a guitar teacher you'd think he could explain it easier... his lessons are horrible compared to other teachers imo
How? That was perfectly understsndable
@@jaymac2702he’s not that bad
He literally listed the strings and the tuning and then told you what you can do with it in, and it’s clear he’s passionate about it, I don’t see the issue lmao
I was today years old when I found this out. Very cool. I play twelve string and never had occassion to tune this way, because I do not play six string. I can play six, obviously. I always felt like I was missing that secondary sound when I played on a six.
instructions unclear. my guitar turned into an archery bow
Marty's smile at the E Major is what playing with people and learning new things is all about!
This man has helped me learn to play a lot of things over the years. I haven’t had much time to practice though with getting through my addiction and being busy between work and my son. Still can play Hotel California and a few others. Thank you Marty ❤
Eric Krasno is one of my all time favorite guitar players.
Funny thing. I follow pretty much all things guitar and daily hear of new-to me players. Recently after a concert introduced my daughter back stage to some Grammy winning guitar players and other players. (A few toured for decades in bands playing arenas as headliners). Found out she heard of most too. Many are beyond her mid- forty age group. I suck at music but appreciate the genius of all you dedicated musicians. It is a tough business.
Thank you all for your talent and years of hard work and dedication.
The Nashville strings were too expensive for me here so i made a makeshift one with the gbe strings replacing ead to tune it up 💀
The easiest/cheapest way is to buy a 12 string set & split them. That gives you one Nashville set & one standard set.
Is it strange to play with no wound strings?
@@danwhitehurst9592 Not as strange as the way it sounds/where the notes are... If you try to play scales or lead/melody parts that you know, the fact that 4 of the strings are an octave higher than standard is really odd!
The 6th string is still wound on mine.
I learned this from Johnny Marr. I love Nashville tuning.
Love it
love it
love your work Marty
So glad to see Masters of strings mentioned: the D''Addario family in the business starting in Italy 300+ years ago.
That sounds amazing
What he said. Yer blowin my mind right now. 😊🤙🤙
One of the greatest things to come out of country music.
These guys look like a lot of fun to hang around with.
Thats cool. Open G tuning is another one thats cool
I have a Baby Taylor that I set up Nashville strung. I really like it that way, so I had to buy another one to keep in standard tuning!
They sound great when we jam with the pair of them.
Love this guy got me started on my harmonica 😊
This blew my mind as well! Never thought doing an octive up would be such a deference!
Very pretty. Love Nashville, you have such dedicated musicians
Just ordered some of those strings! It sounds great! Can't wait to get them in!
Wow! That sounds awesome! Marty you rock!
I have a Nashville tuning acoustic, a standard and a baritone acoustic. The 3 together playing different voicing’s of the same chord or variations of the same chord such as Add9’s etc can sound fantastic.
Can't play "Wild Horses" without it!
I have a bunch of guitars, and I use a gorgeous little gym for my Nashville tuning, and she just sings!
This is incredible
This Marty...you are amazing !!!! Anybody else took a guitar and tuned it this way watching the video ? 😊
you need a special set of strings
WOW...... That's amazing
I love this video thank you so much
Never new I been playing since I was 12 I’m 53 never heard of it. Amazing
So cool
Lifelong honky tonk and classic country player here and Nashville tuning is pure gold for what I do and how I play. Unfortunately, I had to scour old guitar books to find out how to tune it, but I figured it out in my teens. You’d have thought it would’ve come with my Tennessee birth certificate 😂
Marty is the best!
Now I understand why Marty is the number one go to guy for RUclips guitar lessons. This dude knows a lot of shit. He’s a very well rounded individual.
Just blue my mind
Gotta try it
My old metal band I had twenty years ago or so used Nashville tuning quite a bit but we dropped it down two whole steps. Works great with saturated distortion
I have asked a ton of guitar players what Nashville tuning was. I wish I had the answers I have gotten for 20 years. It started for me when the Eagles Take it easy, i could play along buy you could hear the slight diffrent tone. I asked and was told one guitar is Nashville tuned but the cords are the same. Now I see what they are doing inside that song. Still have to have two guitars play it close to the recorded version.

@garrystubbs4891 I might have ment location 🤔. LoL

I just kept hearing Wicked Game, in that Nashville tuning.
I am completely shook by this
This is cool!
May the Shwartz be with you Marty!
that was pretty cool
Ahhh, so now its nashville tune. You know thats how we been tunning quatros since forever!
Great sound
I did this on my 3/4 kid guitar. It's amazing in a mix with other guitars!
Brilliant!!!
Sounds nice
All my life i never knew this. Mind blown.
Imagine showing KRAZ something on guitar?! 😮❤
IVE LITERALLY HAVE ALWAYS DONE THIS ON MY OWN SINCE I WAS 13 I TAUGHT MYSELF TO PLAY BUT THE STRUMMING OF THE STANDARD G CHORD OR WHEN PICKING A SONG NEVER DID SOUND FINELY TUNED TO ME SO I ALWAYS Went up a OCTAVE UP ON THOSE STRINGS TO MAKE WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A PERFECT PITCH !! IM 40 NOW AND STILL DO THIS
A high strung guitar is a beautiful thing - I’m surprised how few people seem to know about it
I love it! Next time more play in the short pretty please
I got to try this
Genius.
wicked game
A great example is Pay Metheny’s Sueno con Mexico! Confounded me for a long time til I realized that!!
I made my 7 string into a Nashville tuning. It's great for adding shimmer.
Never heard of that, sounds great
Big brain and producer friendly
I do this! My main acoustic is a Taylor 355ce 12-string. But when I record demos, I use a 114ce 6-string in standard and a GS Mini in Nashville tuning and pan them hard to opposite sides. It sounds like a 12-string the size of a house.
Wicked game...
That’s crazy
I saw a bin at guitar center full of D'addario Nashville acoustic strings for $3.99 a set. This was a few months back in Spokane Wa
Time to get another guitar just for that tuning!
I found a new way to make metal!
Dern! And I have bought a 12 string 😮
Nashville tuning was used on the "Nashville Cats" single by The Loving Spoonful and extensively on their third studio album, titled "Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful." The album was released in 1966 and featured some of their most well-known songs, including "Summer in the City" and "Rain on the Roof." "Nashville Cats" became one of the highlights of the album and showcased the band's folk-rock sound and John Sebastian's songwriting skills.
"Summer In the City" 45 single was the first record I ever bought - I was 12.
It was after school and I left it on the upstairs front seat of a double decker bus. Despite standing at the bus stop asking every #10 bus conductor for hours I never got it back. I don't blame TLS... 😂
Everybody in the shot immediately started smiling and shaking their heads.
Eric Krasno is one of the best guitarists in the whole game.
I remember seeing him in the band Lettuce at a small coffee in Northampton MA back in the 90s
yes that's awesome
Kirk knew that one 🤘🎸
Your boyfriend?
I uploaded a Byrds cover using Nashville Tuning a few years ago. So much fun.
“My Back Pages”
That final strum sounds like the start of Rain Song, LZ.
This man was built to teach
Why did I always assume it was another name for open G tuning? I’m humbled!

Pat Metheny used this tuning on one of the guitars on the track Phase Dance.
Try Nashville tuning in double drop D. Sounds amazing.
Marty always educating!
Marty blown minds. Very interesting
Wow dude
idk what this means but it sounds sick
this is how you play the guitar part in 'hey you' from pink floyd
No this is how you end up at the store buying new strings
30 years of guitar and just known about nashville tuning☝🏻
I used to play in skew with eric krazno
Marty you are a boss 🤘
Couldn’t imagine picking up a guitar to play country music
It's called Nashville tuning but it's not for Country
Ive had a pack of D'addario Nashville tuning string set in my guitar case for years but i always say _"Im just gunna use the strings that im use to.."_ everytime i change strings. Lol
It's best if you have another guitar that you can string up with those strings.
I’m gonna do this on my twanger
