    My husband received his grandmother’s Blue Danube; an original 8 piece setting that had become random. I’ve spent the last two years completing a 12 person setting with casserole dishes, vegetable, relish & gravy boat accessories. I had a lot of fun hunting down pieces. 🤠

    My sister was 19 years older than I was and I spent a lot of time at her house growing up, I was a very picky eater, and at dinner she would would tell me the “Blue Willow” story as I cleared a portion of my dinner, which encouraged me to eat,I still have those dishes 50 years later and my kids and grand kids got to hear the story as well, the lovers turning into bird always intrigued me, she said that is how love birds got their name.

    I think you’re ready for PBS on Saturday mornings! The Waterford, once again, is just unbelievable!!! The Maeve biscuit jar for the price of a lipstick…and the pitcher…oh my! The cake plate and sterling! I doubled up my cake stands to serve chocolate dipped strawberries on our family’s Christmas Eve sweet table! Thank you…just a fabulous video once again! ❤❤❤

    What a fabulous store! I recently aquired several Waterford pieces at an local online Estate auction…my favorite is my biscuit barrel!!! The design of mine appears flipped from yours. I would love to know the pattern.
    I have my Mother in Law’s Blue Onion dishes. Hers, now mine, are ironstone, made in England. I have a coffee pot, creamer and sugar, a covered casserole and canisters! I am fortunate she left them for me.

    Jim O’Leary of Waterford used to come to Marshall Fields in downtown Chicago every year. My husband, also Jim O’Leary, met him and they exchanged business cards. I have three pieces he designed and also signed. This was probably in the 70’s or 80’s. I didn’t know he had passed away. I treasure those pieces. Thought you might be interested in this little story about him. Love watching your videos and always learn something new.

  • @kentbrasloff3945
    @kentbrasloff3945 11 месяцев назад +13

    LOVE glass door knobs! In fact my apartment in a 1915 building has them on every door. But beware! Glass door knobs can and do explode in the event of fire and you can find yourself trapped. Therefore it has become illegal to install them with the passage (door latch mechanism) intact, keeping you from getting locked in. When renovating I endeavored to restore "original" knobs where they had been replaced and could not find new-made sets with the passage mechanism, and my contractor would not install vintage ones. For my knobs, original to the building, I close the door without allowing the passage to engage...just in case.

    Yes glass doorknobs! I live in a 1923 two family home. I recently had to replace the door knobs on my closet door and was grateful to find an eBay reseller to purchase new old ones. It’s interesting that our floor has all glass doorknobs, while the 2nd floor has all plain metal doorknobs. My guess is that the first floor was built as the owners apartment and the 2nd floor was for tenants.

    What an interesting antique store. I was so surprised I have that exact biscuit barrel by Waterford crystal, I found it in a thrift store in Atlanta about 19 years ago for $5. Imagine my astonishment in seeing the frosted Viking horn frosted glasses just beside the Blue Willow (6:50). I thrifted 3 of them over a year ago for an excellent price for my son and am hoping to find more. I know I can find them on eBay but am trying to find them in the wild. The mug rack would also be practical to display your assortment of Christmas mugs. And then the vintage crinkly amber glasses (24:00) (don't offhand recall the name) that my daughter has inherited from my mother, in which she served Eiskaffee, and continues to collect. I must visit Texas - with an empty suitcase. of course! You scored some great finds today in this fun video.
