Chris Eubank has recently , openly admitted , that he was more than happy to stay in his WBO World, picking up his guaranteed X Salary from ITV and Sky, no matter what calibre of opposition he faced, whether he be a Category A, B, or C in the UK and Ireland . To me, this proves his lack of ambition , why not try and Unify the Division by fighting Class A fighters? but the truth is this, why should he risk it all to face better fighters when he is guaranteed the same wage?, why fight a class A when you get the same money for class C? Sky, were fed up with him getting dodgy decisions V B and C lads and forced the Collins fight, a fight Eubank didn't want, ever, so all of a sudden , he is up V a Class A fighter, who would expose him and prove he was the better man, plain and simple. Collins didn't win this fight. Eubank was beat before he entered the ring - all the talk of a hypnotist really got to him & he never really fought until the later rounds. The referee disallowed a knockdown by Eubank, Collins was running on empty in the later rounds, Eubank lost the fight for sure & achieved summat Nigel Benn, Watson or anybody could be before this fight. Collins winged it. 1-3 points on the cards & Eubank needed to knock him out, but couldn't. Respect to Collins for beating him psychologically b4 the fight & for having a good chin. Early rounds Collins held Eubank around the neck in the clinches & was guilty of low blows... be he did it. He won it. Respect.
To be fair Eubank was battle worn here and was never the same after Watson, still a good win for Colins but Eubank was no where near his best in their fights.

@@lennoxmate4064 End of their careers?! Collins was OLDER than Benn and Eubank and Eubank was 30 when they fought. 30 is universally considered prime for boxers. Oh and Collins had as many fights as Eubank. Collins fought Americas best middles and went 15-0 and barely lost to a great champion Mike Mccallum. Eubank was sheltered and coddled and fought 95% of his fights in England and never fought one American middle weight contender. I have watched both Collins-Eubanks fights many times and nieiher fight was close. Had Collins fought Eubank in his prime (circa Mccallum fight era) he would have knocked Eubank out.
@@saltydog4759 Benn was finished by the McClellan fight. They found a shadow on his brain after the fight. He’d just lost to Malinga and retired. Eubank was never the same psychologically after the Watson fight. He wouldn’t commit to going for the knockout. When he had the two Collins fights it was during a spell of 10 fights in 17 months. He’d clearly lost to Dan Schomer not long before but got a gift decision. He was on the slide, reluctant to hurt his opponents and was exhausted. Collins wouldn’t have knocked Eubank out at any time. He wasn’t a puncher like that. He was a scrappy, cuffing puncher. He had great stamina and he was a strong guy but he wasn’t a concussive puncher. If Benn at Middleweight couldn’t get rid of Eubank, Collins had no chance. Like I said, Collins liked picking over what was left of Eubank and Benn but when he had a fresh lion in Calzaghe ready to fight him he retired. You know why? Collins was gone in the tenth but Eubank started show boating and playing to the crowd instead of going for the KO. Collins played a blinder but Eubank threw away his big opportunity to stop the fight. Great come back from Collins to run down the clock ahead on points.
Eubank was carrying a lot of psychological damage from what had happened against Watson. Watson had Eubank beat and went in to finish the fight. Eubank caught him with a shot and caused Watson life-changing damage. He was terrified of doing the same to another boxer - or having it done to him - and the idea of Collins being hypnotized so that this might happen again scared him.
Eubank had some favourable decisions in his time. However, it was a clear knockdown in round 2 that should have been a 10-8 round Eubank, which would have resulted in a draw.
Should of been a KD but using a Football analogy... you play to the whistle. It's all woulda coulda should, like Tyson's long count against Douglas. End of the day you deal with the cards your dealt and adapt. That's what true champions do. Collins won because he was better on the night, and if there were any doubts, he put them to bed in the rematch. As for Collins resume, he lost guys like Kalambay, Reggie Johnson, McCallum who arguably could or would of beaten Eubank to.

Eubank was fortunate in his only worthwhile challenges until that point of what was eventually a very padded resume i.e., both Watson fights and both Benn fights (after getting deep inside Benn's head). Steve Collins was a seasoned fighter 'slept on' for years and had never played mind games before but he turned those tables on Eubank rather than just allow himself to be emotionally wound up by Eubank. Anyone who knows, knew that Collins was a very good fighter after being based for years in the USA and building a winning record for many years before losing only by decisions to elite fighters/champions McCallum, Reggie Johnson and Kalambay. Fact is, I doubt very much that 'old school' fighter Collins had any hypnotism at all for this fight but the ruse worked.

I hope this clears up a few of the Collins doubters and some facts and truths but its 25 Years since them fights and Eubank, to this day, can't accept it so its very understanding to say, nor have a lot of his fans.
1:00:14 “you’ve gotta do a Watson here”
Blimey...
Very close fight, many of the punches from Collins the commentators said were landing actually missed
Thank you. I thought I was the only one who saw that.
They often said that with punches thrown at Eubank that missed, because he had this freakish head slipping that avoided a punch by just a small fraction.
Collins deservedly won, and Eubank even did a interview afterwards to say he deserved to loose the fight.
@@annahawula2427 a lie. Eubank believes he won this fight.
@@leesc11 Calling something a lie does not make it factual. The facts are in the history books. Collins was announced the winner in both fights. Fist pumping your arm at the end of every round does not make you a winner of the fight unfortunately, although if you watch Eubanks nodding of acceptance at the end of the fight and his comments mentioning Collins is a tough guy, shows who he believes won the fight also.
He let him live. Big mistake. He lost the fight there and then. His trainer was of the same mind slapped the shit out of him when he got to the corner.
Eubanks got robbed and foolishly gave away the fight
Remember watching it in the salon
Great night
I heard that eubank didn't finish him because of what happened to Watson. I thought it was down to Collins movement and crafty jabs
Collins beat him. No question
Yes there's a big question
@@martytdd1606 What big Q marty? He won fair and square. They both scored 1 knockdown each but Collins landed more hits..Eubank was more interested in dancing and showing off.
Johnny Guitar 86 the crowd cheers when Collins missed I thought eubank won
Johnny Guitar 86 robbed of a knockdown
@@somedude3977 They had a rematch and Collins beat him again.
He won it. Respect.
The Watson fight changed eubank
Irish > African
To be fair Eubank was battle worn here and was never the same after Watson, still a good win for Colins but Eubank was no where near his best in their fights.
Collins fooled the world with that so called "hypnotist". He manipulated Chris and his fear of the supernatural to get him off his gameplan. Dont believe me? Watch Boxing Legends TV 'When Boxers Display 2000 IQ'
Eubanks, Man knew how to make an entrance 😂
Listen to Stevie Collins 'Fight of my Life on Talk Sport or Talk Sport 2 radio station its really good 👍
He comes across as a knob on that.
legend has it that roy jones is still running
Roy would have smoked Collins
Roy Jones would’ve beat Collins into another body. That man would’ve went in Irish and came out Cuban.
Roy was from another dimension entirely as far as speed, skill etc at the time. However Collins biggest mistake fighting RJJ would have been his over confidence lunging in which would have infuriated Roy.
@@hugostiglitz4777 in your wildest dreams
@@Detroit-gx5nd Steve would've beaten you and Roy at the same time with one eye closed and one arm tied behind his back
Collins was tough, what a warrior.
Eubank was never the same after the Watson tragedy. He wouldn’t go for the KO. He let Collins off the hook in round 10. The old Eubank would have steamed into him.
Collins beat you man twice. After 25 plus years there is no sense in making non-sensical excuses mate.
@@saltydog4759 it’s not nonsensical. I’m not even a Eubank fan. Nigel Benn was my guy. Collins caught them at the end of their careers and then when a young Calzaghe was waiting for him he quit.
He didn’t want to the same to happen to him that happened to Benn and Eubank. I give him credit for getting out at the right time, it’s something Benn and Eubank should have done.
@@lennoxmate4064 Fair enough. Your argument is sound but i still believe to say the ONLY reason Collins won was because Eubank was past it is folly. We will agree to disagree my friend!
steve won, only man that cud beat ollins that time was calzaghe
roy jones would have smoked him
He lost 3 times
17:37 is that vanilla ice?
primepants No it’s George Clooney.
I want to know about how Steve's brothers learnt not to hit their little brother anymore.
I used to wonder if toney Hopkins Jones and micheal nunn used take notice of these fights sad eubank or collins never involved in etete fights with they champs
Why was Eubanks Posing the whole fight. That’s weird asf
Had a lot to do with the Watson tragedy
He was psyched out. Did you watch the prefight? He was the one hypnotized.
He was terrified of doing the same to another boxer - or having it done to him - and the idea of Collins being hypnotized so that this might happen again scared him.
eubank's nose is what amazes me the most
Eubank had some favourable decisions in his time. However, it was a clear knockdown in round 2 that should have been a 10-8 round Eubank, which would have resulted in a draw.
TalkSport brought me here
Eubank tho has a good chin
He moved all the way up to crusierweight and his chin held up very well
Gran combate collis un verdadero guerrero eubank formidable
I could be wrong but most of steve punches wasnt Landing
Eubank got robbed of Two Knock Downs like c’mon now. Keep calling everything a slip.
He was robbed i said it at the time plus the ref kept protecting Collins pure con job n Collins played on it
@@boxinglegends6454 Nonsense. Collins beat him fair and square.
Eubank looked flat all the way through
He was about 3 years past his prime
Never rated Collins,
Oh come on. I can't stand the man, but did all our guys in England fair and square.
Draw/ so a draw or eubanks win..
Rather apt name for a 🚲 driven by eubank a shovel head. Deffo fits. Old shovel head eubank.
Steve won the first press conference ! And eubank was not used to that . I see the press conference and went straight to bookies thanks Steve 👍🇮🇪☘️👍
en la revancha Collins le volvió a derrotar.
As for Collins resume, he lost guys like Kalambay, Reggie Johnson, McCallum who arguably could or would of beaten Eubank to.
should *have
2:34 - 3:01 Did anyone really believe this nonsense?
i was there!
It's amazing to watch 30 year's later. Boxing pundit telling The commentator Eubank is losing..Even Eubanks corner tells him he's 3 rounds behind but no Sky keeps on saying some people think he's ahead 😉
Eubank knew he was in trouble, first statement in video says it all
Proceeds to drop Steve. Tough guy, but was absolutely dropped. Real fight? Done for.
Thats a ring entrance
If either of these 2 fought roy Jones Jr in 1995 they would of left the ring on a stretcher.....like amateur hour skills compared to prime RJJ
Eubank is fucking bonkers

Fact is, I doubt very much that 'old school' fighter Collins had any hypnotism at all for this fight but the ruse worked.
by then Eubank had lost his instinct over the Watson fight. He lost the killer instinct. He would have destroyed Collins...no problem.
Seen a unjust commentx
Brilliant seeing collins hit the floor class.
Brilliantly seeing him win also.
Genius plan
