Steve Collins was extraordinary. My favorite boxer of all time. Great champion. Not just the heart of a lion; but the physical attributes that great middleweights have. He definitely studied Benn heavily before that fight (those hooks to the body and face were definitely the best technique for Nigel (excellent, excellent fighter - thought to be unbeatable before this fight). He studied the great Chris Eubanks as well. He found avenues. A Celtic Warrior, pure and simple. Very humble and friendly guy; but I would DEFINITELY be polite to him if I met him!
Not sure why his corner pulled Nigel Benn out of this fight. He didn't look injured and was firing back well in what turned out to be the final round. I can't believe a warrior like Benn said to his corner he didn't want to continue - he'd rather be stretchered out of the ring and go out on his shield as he's stated on many occasions. I think he turned his ankle in the first fight, so that was understandable (the stoppage) as he couldn't put any weight on it, and it would obviously have affected his balance. Collins stated, after he'd retired, that Benn was the hardest puncher he'd share a ring with. Great fight regardless of the outcome - thanks for up-loading.
Not taking anything away from Collins, he was as hard as a coffin nail. But by 96 I dont think Benn had the same savagery as he did in 91. Even think Benn had become a DJ around 96. Still, both absolute warriors of the sport.
collins made me laugh in the gloves are off episode with all the other middleweights, where he said to roy jones he had unfinished business,c'mon steve, roy was levels above your ability, take heart in knowing fight fans admired your warrior spirit and never say die approach.nigel had grit and heart, both guys brought it to the table for sur, pity it eneded on a damp note though, would have been a gatti/ward style affair for sure.
Not many are saying this; but Collins had skill. "Levels above" is just not accurate. Benn and Eubank were spoken about like they were unbeatable prior to facing Collins. I think because of his toughness, grit, etc., people overlook that he brought some very good physical attributes to the sport (e.g., good speed, excellent timing, craft). Benn and Eubank were tough also... just outperformed.
@@gregorycaseycahill2824 No, hes spot on. Lets not get silly here, Collins was good, but Roy Jones and James Toney were leagues ahead of any British or Irish middleweight at that time.
Yet he was robbed against Eubank, KO Iran Barkley in round 1, whooped the life out of Gerald McPuppyMurderer and defended the WBC belt 9x overall. And you still yapping through the keyboard
😂 white boxers ain’t better though. Have u been living under a rock. I’m white myself and not to proud to say all the greats have been everything but white🤦🏼
Steve Collins never got the respect he deserved. Tough tough man
@@doublewhopper67what a moronic response well done you…
Because he’s Irish the queen loving pigs wouldn’t let it
He was Fantastic.
Iove him a brilliant boxer
He was good but not a world class fighter. Guys like James Toney and Roy Jones would have smashed him.

Spent an evening with Steve Collins. Absolute Gentlemen

If that amount of holding was a part of a highlights package, then I dread to think what the standard of the rest of the fight was like.
Benn's haircut did for him. Lol.
Collins beat Benn twice and Eubsnk twice, but lost to the body snatcher.
Hard fight Ben was my hero Steve is a soldier
Dreadful editing
Benn eas never the same after the McLelland fight
Was that a boxing match or a cuddling match ? 🤔
It's second fight
Tough men. 🍀

This was their 2nd fight!
Collins was number one
Tough as fook Nigel Ben.
Goddamn! What a war! Like Roy Keane, Steve Collins exudes the aura of a "hard-man" someone you wouldn't want to f**k with.
Roy Keane hard 😆 🤣 😂 😹
No one that plays professional soccer is a hard man 😂😂😂
The english commentary on this was terribly edited against the irish. Yad swear benn was the hulk or something. SCHUTTER video dont watch
Proper sluggers
Bens so dirry 🤣
Punch, hold, punch, hold, punch, hold. These are terrible highlights. I don't know what everybody else is watching...
True I don't think it was a good fight . Not compared to Benn Watson or any of the other fights
@@alanfletcher9698 Agreed

Benn is a cheat
This fight show Ben could never win the big fights..just could not handle.

This is why white boxers will always be better. True students of the game and not lazy relying on speed and power alone
Not always the case
Sounds rather racist that
Total racist Bollocks 😡
You must be new to boxing , bud. Both great white champions and great black champions , Asians, too . Check your facts
