The lens is supposed to focus rays from infinity (≈ 6 meters and beyond) on the retina when at its flattest state. This is called the unaccommodated state, and is also the state of emmetropia. If the model eye is emmetropic, and a minus lens (which diverges the light rays) is brought in front of the eye, the lens within the eye must now provide accommodation. Accommodation is when the lens of the eye changes its focusing power by using ciliary muscles to make it thicker in the middle to properly focus the non-parallel rays of light onto the retina. An optometrist should push for the least minus (most plus) spherical power in which the patient can read the small letters on a 6 meter distant vision chart.

Serving people.
Man I don't even study optometry but I watch so many of these videos I could almost do an exam
I would like to go on your process of examination ..
I'm back today to greet you Sir
Excellent and exhaustive.
Do we need to reduce the light of the room while doing douchrome test always
Sir what do you mean by 'if we over minus patient will start accommodating'?
Good question.

hi sir! if the patient has severe astigmatism, do i need to add the cyl lens when testing the best vision sphere?
Did you fog the left eye or did you occlude it?
Hello sir, what if the sphere is ( + ) do we also give the lowest plus?
Lowest minus highest plus
sir please explain refraction calculation. ...
Thank you sir.....
Thanks for you sir 😊
why the color red indicates he need minus?
Ian Squire
Thank you so much sir I enjoy watching your videos.
your explanation do make sense thank you again.
optical is best testing
