As others said, straight , to the point and detailed. I've had trouble starting this saw off and on for over a year. Bought a carb online for less than $20 and in less than 45 minutes, with the help of this video, had my saw running again. Thank you
Hi. I am write from Puerto Rico. I have seen many videos here. But this is one of the must helful. This Echo CS400 is similar to CS370. I have to say that Echo chainsaw is not that I expected. I consider a bad product. The oil bar chain pump is a mess. Also now the carburator. I personally like to mantaining my tools and equipments clean and running but Echo 1. Required to much mantainace. 2. Troubleshooting to start a lot. 3. The guaranty is relative good but the dealers are to slow in the repairs and also looking always to sale parts that are not included in the guaranty. Versus the trimmes which the experience is totally diferent. Thanks for this video. Amaizing.
No unfortunaly. But I usually check videos from other trades. But in my case I bought the Echo previuos the 2 huracanes that hit the island of Puerto Rico. There were trees all over the place and the natural devastation were heavy. So I start using the Echo 14'' and had problems. I change it for a 16'' and had problems with the bar oil pump. And then I but the 18'' and had problems with the bar oil pump as well. I keep the 18'' after the waranty change of the pump. I dont used too much, but know didn't starts. But after your tutorial I cleaned up an start. But any how needs a carburator kit. So I am planing to buy another trade. Thanks againg.
Lucky me, I let my CS-370 sit in the garage for over a year and it started right up and ran like I used it in the last 7 days. Speaks to Echo quality engineering. I need a couple larger saws, so I'm going to get those from ECHO, also.
Note that if you are doing this on the kitchen table, there is a small amount of gas in the carb, just have a rag to catch it. I was disappointed that the alignment holes on the metering diaphragm gasket and the metering diaphragm on the OEM kit did not line up and I had to take surgical scissors and cut the tiny holes to fit. Thank you for posting this vid. I wouldn't have tried it on my own, just looking at diagrams in the schematic - too green, too much of a wuss.
Why there is no gas spilling when you disconnect the fuel lines? Do you need to fully empty the gas tank before proceeding? Very nice tutorial, thank you.
Great video but never use carburetor cleaner or starting fluid to start a 2cycle engine it is better to use wd 40 or 2 cycle mix directly in the carb to avoid further damage to the cylinder
I don’t know much about Echo chainsaws, but I bet they’re just as a good as a Husqvarna or Stihl. However I have my Craftsman saw that I got for 150 dollars with a 14 inch blade, and it seems to be the perfect saw for me.
Not at all. Pour out the chain oil from the tank as much as you can. Then put some mixed fuel in the tank. Press the primer bulb until you see fuel fill up the bulb and you should be good to try and start it.
Carl McMillen thank you for the question. If you're more hands on then do research first to familiarize yourself via the internet and RUclips. Then find a piece of equipment you don't mind breaking and start exploring how it works. This is basically how I started but with cars.
Buy busted chainsaws, lawnmowers, etc. and tear them down using the manuals and RUclips videos and repair them.....the book and videos will get you most the way there on it, a little common sense, an/or natural ability should finish it off with most repairs. Most companies have an 800 number to consult with. Sell repaired equipment to pay for busted equipment and parts to start over.... or you can go the other way and take classes....
can you tell me a few things first. Have you heard this saw run before? Or is this a new saw to you? Second, have you tried to put some fuel into the carb's throat and start it yet?
Straight forward video and to the point without needless talking. Very good.
Thank you Happy Camper for the comment I appreciate it.
Yeah. Very good video

notice the gaskets are reversed for the 2 diaphragms! Be careful
great info, thanks for posting, never done one, but seems pretty straightforward, I need to memorize the order of those gaskets/diaphrams ;)
Thank you for watching. It's really not hard and can be very fulfilling when you get done.
I have that exact saw thanks for the information it's is a verry strong saw
Thank you Mike Bennet for the comment. I appreciate it.
Nice job. Short sweet and to the point with killer camera work. 👏👏👏👏
ulitepilot aka Zombie Dave thank you for the compliment.

I like to drain the fuel before working. That way it's a lot less messy
Very good info. Thanks !
thank you!

Thank you Leo Ramirez for the comment. Yes I'll try to avoid using that.
If you do don't use but a lil spray and when it fires kill it
That stuff gets hot fast

I think the build quality is good, it just depends on how you use them. I would buy one no problem.
Do u have a vid on adjusting throttle and h/l screws after a new install?
not on this saw.
Great job!
Alan Marshall thank you I appreciated it.
Great video. I’ve been meaning to ask where you’re getting the carb kits from?
OEM ones are almost as expensive as a Chineseum replacement.
I buy them on Amazon. Yes they can be expensive
Now, we'll see
cool video
Thank you Duje Amizic
What if someone put a chain oil into the gas tank and the chainsaw no longer starts... Does it mean the carburetor would need to be replaced? Thanks.
Not at all. Pour out the chain oil from the tank as much as you can. Then put some mixed fuel in the tank. Press the primer bulb until you see fuel fill up the bulb and you should be good to try and start it.
@@HomeGaragechannel Thank you, I will definitely try it.
Great video. How would you suggest some one learn about small engines that is interested in working on them.
