I currently own a 2019 Grand Sport Corvette Coupe. This is my 18th Corvette beginning with a 1957 model purchased in 1963. I have received more positive comments on my C 7 than any previous Corvette. My C 7 receives more "Thumbs Up!", ladies turning their heads to obtain a better view, with this Corvette, than with any of my previous owned Vettes. This Blade Silver with Black interior and Chromed wheels C 7 draws a lot of attention everytime I open the garage door. People passing by are stopping to look and leave positive comments on the 2019 GS. I also have a restored 1967 Corvette Stingray Coupe in Silver Pearl and Black interior on a lift within the garage. Most comments are for my C 7 Grand Sport Coupe. Paul Heeter 2020
It took me a few years to warm up to the C7.. I have the pleasure of owning a 19’ Elkhart Blue GS. I love the looks, the most beautiful car I’ve owned..
Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge power, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Buy one.
Z51 . I pulled up next to one in my 96 gtp and thought what a beautiful icon machine. Just like the mustang gts. It was a burnt orange and a golden mixture. I don't know the paint code but it was beautiful.
I have had my mid life crisis for about 6 years and buying a C7 trumps everything I bought. Nerdy stuff, firearms, and weaponry is nothing compared to a C7. I am 28. LOL. Every time I park it I turn around and look at it.
Awesome videos. Great to see the design & build process. Last April i bought my first Corvette a 1999 C5 Hardtop in pristine condition w only 18k miles. Now has 24k miles and its a blast to drive. other than the cheap plastic 90's GM interior, its a great car. After my C5 is paid off, I'll be looking to get a 2016 or newer C7 Z51 with Mag ride.
+MotoManTV You guys were too nice when the engineer was feeding you shit about the Torque-Tube. Last time I recall, my (past down from parents) 1987 Peugeot 505 Turbo (making a whopping 180hp) has a massive steel Torque-Tube. Come to think of it, when the Big 3 made quality frames way back then, every single car/pickup rolled-down the assembly line with a Live-Axle Torque-Tube....engineering that goes back to the dawn of almost every early vehicles.
Pretty good videos of the production of the C7. Well done! Only a notice: the popup light were forbidden by law around 2003. The C6 was the last car produced with hidden headlights. All other manufactures had changed that before with all the model (generation) changes.
Excellent video! This video, along with other reviews, motivated me to buy a 2019 Grand Sport and I also created a RUclips channel. Keep making great content MotomanTV! Looking forward to seeing more content and sharing some of my own.
Well I own a c7 at 26 so I guess you'll have to add "you can most definitely sell a young man's car to a young man...if he is willing to work his ass off to pay for it."
I sold my 2010 Shelby and bought a C7, by far the best corvette to date, it won me over. Too bad it is stuck in that stop sale mess and GM has no information for new owners as to when they will get the air bag component or module together, frustrating, hopefully I will get to drive it before winter storage season....
At 6:40 the host says 17.2 Corvettes roll off the assembly line per day. That sounds too low. He probably meant 17.2 per hour. That would be about 35,000 Corvettes a year.
going against the grain here as I really do LIKE the tail lights They are three dimensial (sp) and look great to me. My problem was they did the Camaro with nearly the same taillights
I love the Corvette I have an old Corvette stringray yes it's all original and I got the car when I was 16 years old and it coast back then 10.989.58 new I am related to Louie Chevrolet this was his dream back when he made the Chevrolet he wanted to make sports cars but his partner wanted to make Chevrolets to beet ford so Louie gave up his stock to his partner and that is why there was no sports car until 1953
if any automaker builds an iconic affordable super car it should become a requirement that the exotic should have specified build quantity not exceeding towards that of "bloated quantity build" & criteria per say the powertrain should be that of *hand built specific build implementation rather than mass producing using assembly robots for entire build to ensure consistent levels of quality in build & craft. Its another use & application of of hallmark of excellance attributed to even an affordable super car
One thing i notice from working at another assembly plant...its all the same..Doesn't matter what they are making its all done the same.. From the dinosaur Chevette to the Corvette other than automation through the years changing... its never changed as assembly goes...you still stand there and do the same tedious job for 8 to 10 or 12 hours
One thing that stuck out to me was the paint! In the video of the older cars, the paint looked pristine! The paint on all the C7's in the video were all orange peeled. Do they really come from the factory like that?
The interior still needs work. Still has that left over parts bin feel to some items. Still a massive improvement from the older models. The strength to me is the exterior. It looks aggressive and beautiful. Not a fan of the tear drop tail lights but I can see the next version getting that right. As someone who’s never liked corvette (except for the sixties models), I’m really interested in them now. Good job GM, took guts to take a chance and go against your aging and dying fan base.
the explanation to NOT have round tail lights was simply ridiculous. To paraphrase, well there are other design elements that say "corvette" so there is no need for round tail lights. Regardless I have loved the design of the C7 since day one. I do think it looks badder meaner and faster than the C8, but we all know the C8 has inherent design advantages.
Had 3 C7’s. Dimensionally good parts, good quality materials and craftmenship on individual pars however subpar assembly. No pride or ownership from the auto workers.
I love everything except the Camaro tail lights. Epic design fail. Sure they prob needed a change, but you could have done a better design. Looks like generic cheap lights jammed in there.
Keeping the round lights for so long was an epic fail. They have always been and will be ugly. The new ones are a massive improvement. So much So that i actually went out and bought a corvette.
Not a huge fan of the new body. Mainly the lighting. I hate that they scrapped the round taillights and the fronts are a little too long and thin. It's a good looking car but I disagree that it "looks like a Corvette". Small details that made a huge difference to me. I'm a huge fan of the C6 design. I hope that by the time I can afford to buy a Corvette they will have a better design in place. That or I'm going to have to get my hands on a C6 Z06.
***** C6 are an amazing the best car ever, extremely reliable and extremely fast. Usually people that hate corvettes like my father never driven one. Now its on his bucket list to own one before he dies after driving mine. C6 is the last true corvette with beautiful lines.
"You can sell a young man's car to an old man, but you can't sell an old man's car to a young man." What bullshit. Plenty of young guys are into old cars and vice versa. Yet the people you put in charge at GM are senior citizens. Pure hypocrisy. Just goes to show you - GM isn't an auto manufacturer. They're a marketing company.
Mike Richardson I totally agree. I'm not saying the C7 isn't a fantastic car. I meant, in my opinion, the C7 doesn't really reflect it's lineage, let alone the Stingray name they gave it. If their goal was to get more people interested in the Corvette, they have achieved that goal, but at the same time I believe they lost some of their more traditional fan base. Either way, "do you" I suppose. I'm not interested in C7's anymore or C4's for that matter, haha.
Let's hear why so many Corvette parts are made and assembled in Mexico and China? I have owed Corvettes for more than 36 years including C3, C6 Grand Sport, now a Z06. I do not associate Mexico or China with Corvette, American Engineering. It's so amusing yet a waste of my time to hear Politicians talk their talk...
Tail lights look like Camaro tail lights. I thing they could have make a up-tp-date round light and it would have been just as cool. This is for all cars and trucks .... Automakers put the cheapest seats in them that suck , Why would they not put a beautiful comfortable seat in the 30,40,$50,000 autos? The seats are what we have to sit in as long as you are driving the dam thing. The seats are the first thing you notice while looking into the window
The b.s. explanation for getting rid of the round (or oblong) taillights fell completely flat. A more honest approach would be to say that it was just time to make the brand look more exotic and less like a vehicle for guys having a mid-life crisis.
There is no excuse that anyone from GM/Chevy can make, when talking about the new backlights. When I see them, I don't see a Corvette, I see a Camaro. When the guy drew out a sketch of the backlights, I saw nothing BUT the Camaro. Now the Camaro has these generic-looking backlights, while its big sibling is using the Camaro's backlights. Why they decided to change something so unnecessary, is beyond me.
How can you say it looks like a Camaro, the tail lights literally look nothing like the old camaro lights not even close they are incredibly, recognizably different. I'll be honest the way the new Vette is designed the round tail lights needed to go. They were great while they lasted but the new lights usher in a new era for the Vette.
Mike Richardson I couldn't agree more! And while I am one who strongly believe in respecting other people's opinion, I am just tired of hearing this nonsense about the rear of the C7 looking looking like a Camaro. Sure, the the two share similar looking taillights....but that doesn't mean the rear of the car is designed like a Camaro. They look nothing like each other. And the circular lights (while I think they looked great on the C6) would not have looked good on this new design.

Mr. Peters .... wake up your Engineering design staff/team. The 1st day in design class, we were told, to make a great sports car you need to follow simple rules .... make it lower ... make it wider ... make it lighter... There is no reason why the Corvette should weigh more than 2900 pounds ... there is no reason why Americans have to endure less than 46.00" front legroom ... I like the exhaust and the tail lights. Its nice to make changes that are eye popping.
I love the new tail light design.

Wow, just like the Camaro!!!!!
The rest of the C7 looks bloody fantastic, and is my favorite looking Vette that has been made, aside from the backlights.
Problem with the square taillights is they are too similar to the Camaro...at least in design, shape, though lighting was different...
Well I own a c7 at 26 so I guess you'll have to add "you can most definitely sell a young man's car to a young man...if he is willing to work his ass off to pay for it."

Even though i never liked red it looks good on that last segment. Very bad-to-the-bone look.
I don't get the black wheel thing. Give me shiny please. Yes old school I know.
anyway to get in touch with Mr. Peters. I need the expert to give me his option on crash statistics?

Stays in the garage or around the block reality.

Here in 2020 and I just can’t believe how GM has messed up the rear in the new C8. The front however looks amazing.
From the back design it says Camaro.
