    @8:20 Tag says that a 'certain part connected to cooling the brake calipers and that this part sit too low to fit in a car carrier so the dealer installs it.' Does that mean if the car i required to be put on a car carrier for whatever reason, that part has to be removed for traval and then reapplied after it is taken from car carrier??? Also. Is this line dealing with the Corvettes going to be shut down to varying degrees while we deal with the Virus?

    At 2:47 Walter Jackson Chevrolet Ringgold Georgia there was a 78 official pace car sitting on the showroom floor that had around 50 miles on the odometer it was given to or purchased by Walter's son Danny Jackson and he just left it sitting on the showroom floor only driving it a few times. In 2011 an F4 tornado came through downtown Ringgold and went across Walter Jackson Chevrolet and demolished that Corvette. Sad day

    Cheers! Impressive to see some of the engineering that is built into these expensive automobiles. GM fell way short on ground clearance! My 2012 Grand Sport, 2LT only has 3" of clearance. Yes, I said 3". Can't go over speed bumps without dragging bottom. Had to build a driveway ramp because the front fender would drag everytime I backed out the driveway. My 77 Vette never drug bottom on my driveway. You would thing GM would get this problem/challenge/opportunity under control and PREVENT DRAGGING BOTTOM... HINT, HINT, HINT...

      MotoManTV True, but I'd stick with my 6 year old SRT8 given the choice between the newer ones. Sure, they're awesome cars, but for what a brand new SRT8 costs, I could build a serious hot rod out of mine... but it still wouldn't be C7 level, hehe.

    This stiff drive-train seems unique, relying on a torque tube to react against a drive-shaft without U-joints. If this has been well-engineered, it saves production costs while improving reliability, tracking & road-feel. On the downside, damage to any part of this assembly is more likely to affect the whole drive-train. Is this concept patented?

    • @bernado242

      please look up the tramic trans and you will see what I mean

    • @dmcnamara9859
      @dmcnamara9859 5 лет назад

      SIMKINETICS:
      Nothing revolutionary about a torque-tube. Hell even the Model T had it....most/all GM cars/pickups had Torque-Tube until the 1950s. Torque-Tube
      has been around for hundreds of years in Industrial Applications.
      Just comes down to ,you wanna spend $20.00 for a conventional drive-shaft with U-joints or spend $30.00 for the Torque-Tube method.
      Current Corvette still plays catch-up to Japan and Europe....it's Ace is lots of horsepower for little money.

    I wish these ‘brilliant’ engineers had to fix the shit designs they create. Just to change the heat/AC diverter doors, remove top half of engine to access firewall, then remove the several hundred pound dashboard as a unit...$5000 to $6000 to replace less than $200 in wear-out parts. Oil pressure sender fail? They DO! and its a $12 part that takes $1,400 in labor to access. Love driving my Vette, but would shoot some of the freaking idiots that engineered impossible service into it.

    So on the torque tube issue, you tripled the weight because of a vibration in 4 cylinder mode. AFM is a pox in a sports car.
    Get rid of the DOD, and you’ll fix the lifter issue, and resulting blown motor from dropping a valve issue, lower the weight of the car, the vibration issue, and the torque tube grenading issue that plagues these cars.
    Oh yeah and fix the pos transmission/torque converter issue. That’s a nightmare.
    And get paint and body to fix my clear coat issue. I have to spend a few thousand to get my 60 thousand dollar car repainted where the clear coat defected.

  • @mgelliott1
    @mgelliott1 8 лет назад +4

    1:07. Triple is not 300%. If you double something, you increase it by 100% from where it was. If so, tripling something is a 200% increase.

    • @mgelliott1
      @mgelliott1 8 лет назад +1

      +CatManDewie doesn't respond to my point on what triple is. read my post.

    • @catmandewie2985
      @catmandewie2985 8 лет назад

      I redact those statements as a misunderstanding. You're right as a 200% increase from what it was but the end result will still be 300% of the original. So Tadge is still right.

    • @mgelliott1
      @mgelliott1 8 лет назад +1

      +CatManDewie Dude. Not it won't. You are wrong. Read my original post carefully. Read your own redacted post. You contradicted yourself. You can't say I'm right in the first 1/2 of sentence 2 and then take that back in the 2nd half. Tadge was stating growth from where something WAS. 1x that original, or 100% growth, doubles it (100 to 200, is 100% increase). 2x that original, or 200% growth, triples it from where it was (100 to 300, is a 200% increase, math is (300-100)/100 = 2). As such 3x that original, or 300% growth quadruples it 400 is 3x more than 100, or (400-100)/100 = 3.

    • @catmandewie2985
      @catmandewie2985 8 лет назад +2

      +mgelliott1 What you are saying only applies to percentage INCREASE, not the new stiffness percentage. Tadge wasn't clear when stating that after listening to it. He is trying to say the new stiffness percentage not the increase. It is in fact 300% AFTER tripling if from 100% by a 200% increase. Tadge is still right.

    They need to stop this 4 cl stuff, if you want a 4 cl buy a Camry or accord, running the v8 on 4cl causes premature wear, that is what they want.

    Looks like the next generation MIGHT be a "REAL" supercar, Comparable with the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Acura and Ford... I mean really, any Moron can buy and drive a 'Vette Straight-line...but to have a REAL Mid-Engine SUPERCAR, something that actually handles like a real GT race car, Even though I am not a "Chevy Guy", it will be nice to see the American brand Chevrolet name on something like that.

      Do you realize that Chevy kills a lot of those cars on the track. With the Z06, Grand Sport, ZL1, and more. GM is pretty much king of the hill right now on the track and definitely the skid pad. The new Grand Sport just set a Motor Trend record by pulling 1.2g on the skid pad. These things eat Porsches and BMWs on the track. Not much can beat them, especially on a track.

      Honestly though, go look at the numbers and the times. The Z06 is the number one car on the Willow Springs track that Motor Trend tests on., other than the 918 Spyder which is ridiculously fast. It beats out the GTR Nismo and a bunch of McLarens and Porsches.

      I don't see a single Chevy on this list, until I do, nothing they build impresses me... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans_winners

      Chevy doesn't really try with Le Mans. Go look at the Nurburgring and other tracks like Willow Springs, Mazda Laguna Seca, etc. A lot of top tens and top fives on those tracks. Z06, ZR1, and ZL1 all do really good.

    What this guy doesn’t tell you about that driveline is that they copied it from Porsche who first came out with that design in the early eighties in the 944 and 928. Corvette utilized that driveline with a rear mounted transaxle in the C5, ten years after Porsche. Guess he forgot to mention that...

      Why the hell does it have to be stolen!? Car companies borrow ideas and technologies from each other all the time. It's a good thing. And since you wanna talk about stealing and shit, Ferrari stole the Magnetic Ride Control suspension from GM. How's that?
