- This is the Shovelhead engine I went over for the Guys over at Turner Customs. They installed it. It started right up, and with no miles or changes, it sounds like this.
I don’t know what sounds better, the bike or this mans soothing radio voice lol
Now I'm blushing. Thank you.
The bike sounds better but yeah he has a voice for radio. Soothing? Naw, kinda’ weird but a great mechanic and my favorite, a cone Shovel; or maybe a Pan Shovel or a Pan or a Knuckle.....Flattie...
Sounds great Mike I appreciate my 72 FLH after buying a twin cam.
Pacific Mike great work bro! Our son was killed on his 06 Deuce this past July when some careless driver turned left in front of him! Now I would like to find a reputable shop to help rebuild his bike! Thanks for sharing bro!
He does have a great voice. Or as the old saying goes "He has a face made for radio"😂 Just kidding Mike.
No m8 ever gonna sound like that, that's for sure...new Harley's have lost that awesome sound.... Great bike sir..... Love what you do
Thank you. I love the old bikes and their sounds and feel. But, there's room for everyone.
Ur crazy my m8 sounds badass
I hope not! its a different motor hahaha but in all honestly, the s&s 475c cam sounds pretty great on mine. check em out man
Good work, that Shovelhead runs very smoothly. Love Harleys!
Older sounds better but all Harleys sound cool with proper pipes, come on
Very nice! I owned a 76 superglide for 10 years, loved it! Wish I still owned it. Thanks for sharing this
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great to hear that sweet sound. I had a 75 FXE super glide, loved that bike.
Thank you.
I have a stock 1982 FXB Sturgis... thank you for all the videos, they will help me to keep my bike running !
Thank You. That's a real fun model.
Sounds like a well oiled sewing machine, fantastic.
Mike I've just decided I'm going to try and be as cool as you from now on too.
Love it
Thank you. I'll bet you're plenty cool. I'm just a guy who loves this stuff and I appreciate you watching it.
Dont get me wrong, but I dont know if anyone can be as cool as mike lol
Needed that sound today , 29 degrees here in Michigan , and my shovels in pieces
Thank you. Wishing you an early Spring.
That shovel sounds fantastic Mike! Awesome job. The whole motorcycle turned out great.
Thank you. The boys at Turner's did the rest of the bike.
I had one exactly like that. Wish I had it now. My wife and I ride a Tri Glide now, but if I had one of my old Shovelheads, I would use that for my solo trips to the grocery store, etc. Miss that sound.
I get it.
That’s one beautiful Harley!! Love the sound!!🎶🎶🎶🎶 Thank you....
Thank you.
Wow. Mechanical symphony.
Thats like that huge sigh you give out when you crack your first beer after a stinking hot full day at work.
With music like that, you just Know , everything is right with the world and life is sweet.
Thanks Mike, You did her proud.
Thank You. I appreciate that.
Awesome ride. My first bike was a 1982 Superglide, 1340 cc, blue, straight pipes and I loved it. Thanks for the video.
Thank you.
Lovely lovely all being well I will have to get another harley this year love shovelheads and panhead which is my favourite but I love the 103 heritage that I have the pleasure to own lovely bike regards Alan from the UK
Cool. More bikes are always better. Then you have the right bike for each type of occasion in your life.
1979 FXE Superglide! I should have bought one back when I had the chance! This one sounds excellent! Thank you!
Thank You.
That's how easy an old Harley starts when people know what they are doing! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
Been waiting for this. Notification came through as I was working on my own Shovel way down here in New Zealand. Man, I've got a long way to go.. LOL. Thanks Mike. Keep 'em coming.
Thank you.
Sounded so good! My 83 FXWG with the 38VM Mikuni Carb starts right up now. Brought it to a local shop here for TLC.
Cool.
Perfect sound! 🤘🏻
Thank you.
Beautiful bike, and beautiful sound! I started riding in 1982 and last August bought my first shovel, a 1980 Superglide Fatbob. I've been living vicariously through your videos as I wait impatiently for spring to arrive on the Canadian prairies so I can ride again. Thanks for your videos!
Very cool! I've ridden Vancouver in the summertime. I loved it. Thank You.
Love that root-beer brown
It's a factory color applied by Turner's Customs of Yucaipa, California.
Reminds me of my first new Harley, a 1973 FX named her Rosie. What a great sound of music.
Thank You. That's just what the goal was.
Shovelheads sound so good. That's another nice bike. Love that it's not all blacked out. Looks like Root beer paint color ,cool.
Thank You.
Hi from UK - great video, awesome bikes. I've never ridden a Harley but when I do I will hear your voice...!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video. Loved the chance to hear her run.
Thank you.
Oh Mike, that made my heart race. Nuthin sounds as good as a Shovel!!
Beautiful bike!
Thank You.
Beautiful! I have 2 carbureted Evos and need a Shovel yet. Chilly in MI today, thanks for warming me up.
Thank you.
You have a great disc hockey voice. Thanks for the video.
Thank you.
Always loved the kickstarter as a backup wish they all still had them, nice bike 👍
I can be done. I don't think I'd like to kick over a 114 cu. in. motor though.
@@pacificmike9501 it would be interesting though 😂
One of my friends built a 114" Knucklehead drag bike. He decided he wanted a kickstart only. When it backfired on startup, it folded his knee backward and the damage to that knee was one for the books. It got an electric starter shortly thereafter.
@@pacificmike9501 no doubt 😂 👍
Awesome ride! I went to Yucaipa Elementary school and grew up around the area. Nothing like that sound, love it man.
You bet. It's a love thing. Thank you.
when it settled into it's gallop oh man that's a pretty sound . great video mike thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank You.
Love those 70's Superglides! Old farm boy I knew years ago had one, he had a couple goodies in it and it was a sweet sound hearing him rip into town from his farm!
Sounds like a "day brightener" to me.
@@pacificmike9501 Exactly!
Sounds great! Great job on the engine Mike. Looks like they did a great job on the restoration too. 👌
Thank You
That's a beautiful old super glide , had one just like it !! 🥰
Very cool
Rarely do I find myself jealous but man I gotta get myself a 79 FXE. Great sounding machine.
Thank You. They're out there.
What a wonderful "gallop" it has.....nice job.
Thank You.
You should've kick started it, nice bike. And this guy has a great voice for narrating or radio.
Thank you.
What a beautiful bike and the motor sounds yummy thank you again mike looking forward to more videos.
Thank you Pacific Mike
Thank you.
It is identical to my 1977. Great bike. thanks mike
Thank You.
Have owned my 1979 FXS since new and although it's now 93" of S&S goodness with 10-1 compression and an Andrews C grind cam..still has that sweet clumpety-clump idle...with Juuust a bit more snap!
That's a lot of motor. Sounds like fun.
got a new 1980 shovel off the show room floor and had it 30 years great harley
Way cool.
im trying to get my 79 shovelhead going again. time will tell. thank u sir.
If you want it badly enough, you'll get there. I have faith.
Really good sound coming from those pipes.
Thank you.
I would love to apprentice with this man.
Thank You.
👍😁
Thanks Mike... I know you get the requests...and that answers the question of what does a shovel head sound like thru a lavalier microphone, via YT, from across the Nation far better than anyone one else could have done it... lolz
Thanks for sharing a gorgeous bike and the commemorative story behind the build.
Being cooped up I’ll gladly watch your videos vs the fear porn on MSM.
Appreciate all your efforts!
You too. Thank You.
Beautiful bike sounds like it's tuned perfectly a chrome louvered battery cover would look great on that bike
Thank you. For the man who owns it to dress it up accordingly.
Your killing me bearded smalls!!
Sounds Great
Thank you.
Super job sounds good nothing like a shovel head
Thank you.
The Shovelhead was always the best sounding model and they are very dependable once you solve the factory issues.
True of every motorcycle I've ever owned.
Ya'll did a great job!!!! Sounds awesome!!!
Thank you.
Love that sound!!!
Thank You.
God, its beautiful.
Thank you.
So glad u left it all stock
Pretty much.
Very nice job sounds great!😊
Thank you.
fine job on your motor work nothin finer than that sound
Thank you.
Sounds good really makes me want to get my 73 running again but mine is a kicker only
You know, with a modern "programmable" ignition, you can make that cone motor easy to start.
Beautiful sound love it
Thank you.
Nothin sounds better than a shovel idling with no choke
Thank you.
I had a 76 fxe. Had a lot of fun
Yep.
I think HD 74 is the oldest tattoo I got. Either that, or Roxie. I rode 'em both, and both ended up blowing a rod.
Sounds like a good life.
That's a Great Bike there. nice job
Thank You. I just did the motor and trans.
Sounds perfect. Love it
Glad you like it!
reminds me of my old 78 1/2 fxe loved that bike her name was Doris
Hopefully, she's giving someone else fond memories.
I still have my original Harley. It's a 1983 Low Rider , FXSB Shovelhead.
Amazing how we never get tired of our great times.
Great sound. Love it.
Thank you.
Love it. I want one!!!
Okay.
How does anyone NOT like this video?
Thank you.
Wow. My dream bike that I will own before I die
They are out there. I wish you one.
I saw: polished shoes, matching belt, clean jeans with a perfect hem, fresh denim shirt without a crease and a voice with a perfect tone. What? there was a bike? Some sort of Harley? Model ABC or XE? No idea.
I don't know what to reply. So, thank You.
Thanks Mike !
Thank you.
Great sounding bike!! I don't think there's a better sounding machine out there.
Thank you.
They had their own sound I can tell when one is around
Yah, it's those bikers showing up again.
Got to get some better speakers for my computer! Tiny little built in ones I've got don't do this justice. Nice bike!
Thank you. We try to capture the sound.
Sounds good I got pne with an ab cam sounds good to smooth
Very cool. Thank You.
Music to my tired, old ears!
Thank you.
Gotta love a shovel!
And I do.
I think the cameraman liked it too.
Thank you. Of course he did.
Talk about a gallop.. Love it.
Yah, it's alive.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Sounds great.
Thank You.
Awesome bike
Thanks ✌️
Uh great video and great bike that’s freaking cool.
Thak You.
If that exact bike, as is ! Was built from the production line at Harley’s manufacturing plant/“old plant” in America 100% they couldn’t keep up with the demand Worldwide
Yes, Turner's Customs did a beautiful restoration.
my bike is an 1982 wide glide. custom build on a paughco frame. its got old school baffled fishtail pipes and an andrews cam and i just can't seem to work out the super g. i know i should probably be running super e, but the super g was what was there when i bought it. running a .070 mainjet and im honestly not sure of the intermediate jet size. sometimes it coughs and backfires, sometimes white smoke and sometimes black smoke. it seems the smallest tweaks make it jump from lean to rich and the accelerator pump is another monster all together. this is my first shovel and also my first s&s carb so any help is very much apreciated. i live in alabama so the weather is always moderate.
S&S carburetors, adjusted according to their instructions, work well. But, I think you've "overcarbureted" if that's going on an 80 inch motor.
@@pacificmike9501 I figured that was the case. I’ll try and get my hands on an e model. Thank you so much for the reply. Watching your videos has made me confident enough to tackle my first shovel project. I’ve been watching everyday. Over and over. Please keep them coming. Your videos are some of the best (if not THE best) motorcycle videos I’ve ever seen.
Nice bike!
Thank You. Restored by Turner's Customs.
The shovel is the best sounding HD engine imo.
Don't limit yourself. There are Panheads and Knuckleheads and Flatheads, and J Models. There's a world of cool stuff out there.
@@pacificmike9501 I hear ya. Up in Canada here mike you might score a shovel but pretty much forget about the others. There was a 58 Panhead for sale here a few months ago and the dude wanted $54,000 or something like that. Out of my price range :)
Greetings from the international space station!
And Greetings to you.
Really like this guy's show
Think I'll go for a ride
Thank You. Enjoy your ride.
Nice! Thank you.
Our pleasure!
As someone new to your channel, I appreciate what I've seen, so far. It's a tiny point, but the shovel in this video isn't really a restoration. Really, a minimally customized refresh. Beautiful custom paint without a bunch of hoohaw.
It was completely disassembled. The frame was restored. Then , it was taken back up completely including all electrics and a proper paint match to the original. True, this was done to the owner's specs. This is not Pebble Beach and we're not going to argue definitions.
Beauty!
Thank you.
Very nice
Thank you.
Sweet ride
Thank You.
Why kicker and electric sounds sweet love the old 1200s
Why not? Sometimes electrics failed. Nice to have both.
Can't argue with that sweet ride
I wonder what you think of those twin electric cooling fans for a shovel stuck in the city. It's used primarily as work a day transport. Any ideas for a left side mounting?
My buddy Jim gave me this fan that I'm using now. Seems to work pretty well.
Lovely...
Thank you.
That, sounded great 😀 do you have an old Panhead from the early 50's my dad had a 52 but to my shagrin I never heard it run. Thanks Mike.
Look at more of our videos. Babydoll is a '52. We'll run her on a video. But, with her cam, she's got a bit of a "raspy" idle. Thank you.
If it is a 79, wich I dont doubht the crome spoke rims are not stock. Neither are the SS Super Carburator. I had a stock 78 FXE, 74" Showelhead (best H-D engine ever in my opinion ,) bought in Twin City back in 87.
Cool.
That's a GORGEOUS Bike!
They say Harley sales are down? Have you seen the new Bikes? I've seen MAYBE 2 that aren't Glides or Kings that look decent. Need to tap into their files a little bit more. Or perhaps the Custom Mags from back in the day.
They do whatever they do. It's not important what I think. I'm just doing what I've always done.
That does sound good
Thank You.
Potato Potato Potato ! Beautiful !
Thank you 😋
