I know you get it my friend! You are one of the people I was talking about. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Хочу выразить благодарность за Ваши уроки по заточке инструментов. Более развернутых и информативных уроков я ещё не встречал. Спасибо за Ваше терпение и огромный труд!
I completely get why you took the time to salvage that step drill, also very envious of the relief grinding attachment!
Thanks for the comment!
I appreciate that you share all of your setup process and logic. I’ve been trying to get better at tool grinding for a long time and, your videos are helping me greatly.
I'm very happy to hear that you're finding the videos helpful. I'm planning to get set up for live streaming so that we can discuss processes live and somewhat in person. Cheers!
I really enjoy your sharpening videos showing the techniques, thanks!
I'm glad you are enjoying! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video! Following the setup closely is greatly appreciated.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice grinder!
Thanks!
Very interesting. Nice work sir
Thanks Rusty!
Nice Job! Always love the great details you provide in indicating your parts! Perhaps one day you could give a try to my DRO for your grinders?
Thank you. I've never considered putting a DRO on my grinder. I'll have to give that some thought
Much appreciated video, got me sub'd.
Thanks and welcome to our channel!!
The video is not very good for people who do not have this equipment. but it looks fun. Thanks for your trouble.
For those of us with a cutter grinder, but without a relieving fixture (yet, ha), is there reason not to grind the face? As long as some original relief remains it should still drill?
Thanks for taking the time to show these setups.
I agree completely.
Thanks for watching!
I have always wondered, what is the runout of the collets you use in this tool grinder? I have a mini tool grinder I have made which uses ER40 collets and from what I know, you kind of need 0 runout to properly sharpen any tool as otherwise you impart that runout inherently into the tool’s flutes.
Zero runout is definitely preferable and for the exact reason you mentioned. To try to answer your question I have three different flavors of collets and they all behave differently than each other in different situations. I know that's not a concise answer but there's a lot to it. My best collets run nearly bang on. 0" to .00025" -or 0mm to .0064mm on a good day.
Thanks for watching!
@@Lappemountainliving That is really impressive, I tried to get my hands on Techniks ER40 collets as I know they are rated at 0.0002" or less. SYIC, which I believe is the actual manufacturer, does have an ultra high precision range which is guaranteed to 0.0001". Of course, I do need to regrind the spindle taper so it has zero runout in the setup, but the collets are important as well. Thank you for the response, I was always curious because I tend to see a lot of tool sharpeners on RUclips use collets which look rusted or just ill-cared for!
Great video by the way, love to see all this tool grinding especially as I refine my own setup!
Good info if you have that particular tool.
Thanks 👍
what do you call that grinder? Its unlike the universal tool grinder.
It's called the Hybco 2 way cam relieving fixture.
Thanks for watching!
Do you take customer work? I'm just around the corner.
We sure do. You can email me with the details if you want
HI ! I have those small belts for my K.O. Lee and could use some new ones. Would you share your source ?
Thanks !
Hi
The one I found is made by Gates. It's specified as a 5M615. 5M is the width. 5 millimeter or 3/16 inch. The 615 is the length in millimeters witch works out to just under 24,1/4 inch long. My first problem finding it was that I didn't know that they are specified in metric. my second problem was finding a sales person who cared enough to bother trying to look it up. With the first few places I went the sales people told me they would look into it and get back to me but they never did. I also wanted a 23" long belt but apparently North America is sold out and they won't be making more of that length until November. Best of luck finding your belt!
@@Lappemountainliving Thanks !
How to sharpen a step drill... 1st - go buy $50,000 worth of hi tech sharpening equipment, 2nd - Spend years practicing different techniques and watching you tube vids.... 3rd - now you can sharpen you $40 step drill.
and not to a nominal size. the poor guy that uses this step drill next will get a surprise when the bolt won't fit into the whole. lol
@@Ujeb08 Hole, not whole
I thought about the value of that drill and concluded who cares? It has entertainment value way beyond $5.
Adults have to play too.
Indeed!
Not everyone gets it :)
I know why we live in a disposable world . This takes to long
