So, from what I heard (not sure how true it is though), Piccolo was going to just have normal skin, but the actor playing him refused to do it unless he was painted green. So, at least one person knew what they were doing in this movie.
+Racheal Jackson Yep, there are some movies that give its actors a bad name...and then there are others that make them a laughing stock for years, requiring them to slowly rebuild their reputation until they can finally get a decent role again. And even then, the movie will still follow them as a permanent mark on the rest of their career.
To be fair, the performance an actor gives is also dependent on their direction. If the director says, "do it this way," the actor is typically obligated to do it that way, even if they don't think it's very good. And yes, that *can* ruin an actor's reputation just because he was specifically following the craptastic requirements of their director. That's why actors sometimes will turn down a role for a part they expect will be a flop; they don't want to be caught in a trap where they are either contractually obligated to shoot their career in the foot, or pay a large penalty or breaking contract to get out of the part and save their career.

22:10 wait.."the original goku that hated fighting"?...what the hell are you guys talking about...goku's lust for a good fight basically it's the reason dragonball exists ò_ò
majukun He didn’t want to go around picking fights with people, he just enjoyed combat in general. His saiyan side gave him a lust for combat, but he was also a pacifist. If a fight did start, he’d want his opponent to be at full power but he never actively looked for someone to beat up.
29:19 well if you can if you can just consider something an anime because you feel like it then my favourite anime is Shrek, Hannah Montannah and Seinfeld.
Now hold it right there. Just he thinks avatar is anime, doesn't mean that he takes out of thin air, since the show incorporates many elements from japanese animation. It would by that standart be considered anime.
Fun fact of the day, something doesn't need to be Japanese to be anime. The word anime began as just the Japanese word for animation but these days it refers to the style itself.
Full disclosure before watching the video I used to love Dragon Ball in my childhood but now I just find it rather meh. There is way too much talking where they should be fighting and it just drags ooooooon. Now I prefer the abridged version as while they kept the talking sections in they made it entertaining by using that time to make comedic dialogue which keeps the viewer engaged and distracts from just how long these parts are and how the interrupt they fight, which I just love. Oh and the Dragon Ball "Devolution" is the biggest slap in the face on par with Avatar.
Marterez_ZQ: So because of one character who only in less than 20% of the majority of the episodes, you can’t watch it? Can you give me a better excuse?
But... Dragon Ball isn't only about the fights. Heck, Dragon Ball Z had a large amount of fights, but the show wasn't ONLY about that. Heck. Dragon Ball had more comedy and jokes and dialogue than fighting, but it's still good.
DragonBall Evolution: they took the world's most famous martial artist in fictional history and turned him to shit... and don't tell me that he gave Piccolo 2 hits.. that shit doesn't count.
13:03 Goku is Saiyan but he is supposed to appear as Japanese, much like how Superman is kryptonian but appears to be caucasian or Icon from milestone comics is a Terminan but appears to be African-American.
Tfs Cell: Yamcha....out of all the side characters you picked HIM, he wasn’t even on the list....KRILLIN was on the list!!! KRILLIN: wait why was I.....? Tfs Cell: Part time entertainment KRILLIN: frankly I’m happy to be included
6:47 - Dragonball is a bunch of muscular people with thicc necks fighting each other, and Dragonball Z is a bunch of muscular people with thicc necks fighting each other while flying and turning the World Martial Arts Tournament into a punch line. Also Goku finds out he's Superman.
There was a petition signed by I think 10,000 fans of Dragonball which stated they would not go watch this movie just from the previews. I signed and still refuse to watch this garbage.
Anime: a style of *Japanese* film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children. Last Airbender and Korra are not animes, no two ways about that.
If a studio in Japan is making Anime, and they decide to move their studio to some other country, does the animation they make cease to be Anime? When a studio out-sources some of their animation to Korea or China, are only the animation frames produced in Japan counted as Anime? If a Japanese person emigrates to some other country and *then* starts up a studio and produces animation in the same style that he would have done back in Japan, does it not count as Anime? What if people from other countries immigrate to Japan and start producing that style of animation? Anime is not a regional trademark like Champagne wine or Roquefort cheese which, legally, *must* be produced not only by the proper method, but also *in* those specific regions. You are applying a regionally-restricted requirement to Anime when no such requirement actually exists.
I disagree. Much of Avatar and Korra has many anime styles and motifs that you can find in any mainstream anime series and just because the location where it is drawn is different doesn't make it any different
IMO, I find this sentence to explain a lot. "In Japanese, the term anime refers to all forms of animation from around the world. In English, anime (/ˈænəˌmeɪ/) is more restrictively used to denote a "Japanese-style animated film or television entertainment" or as "a style of animation created in Japan"."
I haven't even watched Dragon Ball and even I know that movie looks nothing like the Dragon Ball universe. It looks like another stupid teenage drama movie.

I like how the Chihuahua is just sitting in the sofa watching the review
No one got the BlackAdder reference with Ariel as Bob.
Nate didn't explain why he thought Avatar: the last air bender was a anime in this.
12:44 Ariel joke unfortunately became relevant.
How?
I consider AtLA an anime too. It's about style, that's the difference between anime and cartoons. AtLA resembs an anime, therefor it can be considered anime.
Also I like DBGT. :P
You should watch the bloopers behind this review.
Nostalgia Critic reaction? Homework, you can wait.
7:27 that was the very question that made J J Abrams agree to directing Force Awakens
Another fun fact the screenwriter apologized for this films script
DAYMN Elaina you dishin' out more than just chemical burns!
Actually, Avatar is not an anime.
Anime is the contraction for japanese animation in order to make difference with the Western (Occident) animation.
Genaro Honorio Rengifo finally someone doesn’t have his head up his ass
Yep
22:10 wait.."the original goku that hated fighting"?...what the hell are you guys talking about...goku's lust for a good fight basically it's the reason dragonball exists ò_ò
majukun He didn’t want to go around picking fights with people, he just enjoyed combat in general. His saiyan side gave him a lust for combat, but he was also a pacifist. If a fight did start, he’d want his opponent to be at full power but he never actively looked for someone to beat up.
@@cartoonnetworkdisneyxdsupe6864 Yeah, I got their reasoning too, but they could have explained what they ment
32:12 goku's new technique IRON TURD OF JUSTICE
You guys should watch yugioh abridged
Dragon Ball Evolution was our precursor to the rage we would eventually feel from Avatar: The Last Airbender
17:11 This is how the meeting went when the studio that made this movie pitched their idea.
29:19 well if you can if you can just consider something an anime because you feel like it then my favourite anime is Shrek, Hannah Montannah and Seinfeld.
Don't forget Corey in the House!
Corey in the house...that's an anime I hear about is very good and recommended
BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES IS THE GREATEST ANIME OF ALL TIME!!!
Man, this reaction got weird when you guys decided to start playing with Ben's balls
*AHA!* - Krillin
16:36 I love tide pods
Full disclosure before watching the video I used to love Dragon Ball in my childhood but now I just find it rather meh. There is way too much talking where they should be fighting and it just drags ooooooon.
Now I prefer the abridged version as while they kept the talking sections in they made it entertaining by using that time to make comedic dialogue which keeps the viewer engaged and distracts from just how long these parts are and how the interrupt they fight, which I just love.
Oh and the Dragon Ball "Devolution" is the biggest slap in the face on par with Avatar.
Might wanna give Super a chance.
Goku Black I can't get into Super because well...spoiler: Frieza returns and I absolutely hate that character because reasons.
Why do you think Kai exists? It cuts out all of the filler of DBZ.
11:11 He means bad financially wise. Youll notice he said " *did* really bad"
You really should watch the making of this Nostalgia Critic episode. It's amazing.
That's because both characters have a similar origin story.
Sound’s like Mike’s Micah is mute. No, I mean, Mikey’s Mika is morphed! Uh-No- Mic-Mickey...Mick-D’OH, you know what I mean!
Tfs Cell: Yamcha....out of all the side characters you picked HIM, he wasn’t even on the list....KRILLIN was on the list!!!
KRILLIN: wait why was I.....?
Tfs Cell: Part time entertainment
KRILLIN: frankly I’m happy to be included
Have you seen Dragon Ball Light of Hope? It's probably the most faithful live action DBZ content we're going to get for a long time.
Oh my god I have those exact set of dragon balls
I love you guys so much more now
6:47 - Dragonball is a bunch of muscular people with thicc necks fighting each other, and Dragonball Z is a bunch of muscular people with thicc necks fighting each other while flying and turning the World Martial Arts Tournament into a punch line. Also Goku finds out he's Superman.
This movie is what caused Super to be made. This just basically what happed to Godzilla with the mistake that was the 90's movie.
Every time they pause the video, take a drink
You say he's not pilaf, but fans point out Mai.
After this, Nostalgia Critic - Spawn.
Thats a very good idea, I really hope the Renegades will do that one soon, its very funny and interresting in my opinion!
Tommy Diaz-Millan wish granted
Chichi WAS the last person that Goku fought in Dragonball.
Children's Anime. Pokemon, My Neighbor Totoro, Voltron and Speed Racer.
Thing is, anime comes from "animeshon", which is just how Japanese people saying animation in general. So by that standard, all animation is anime.
Gonna make this really simple. Do a try not to laugh with the best of soviet womble or cyanide and then every person on the couch will finally lose.
18:21 this I can’t handle 😂😂😂😂
“And you were there with-“ ~Nate 2018
Part of me feels like this movie mistook Goku for high school Gohan...
I haven't even watched Dragon Ball and even I know that movie looks nothing like the Dragon Ball universe. It looks like another stupid teenage drama movie.
I did a reaction to this myself and lets just say....I had to hold myself back from punching my computer screen, it was actually even worse than I remember it being I guess I should count myself lucky it was only a review and not the whole movie
12:10 Skip it
Ozpin dropped by the Mentor Poker game for a little bit. Then he had to reincarnate into a teenage boy.
As shit as the movie was, I did like the design of the dragon balls. It's a shame not even James Marsters could save the film.
8:16 when people say something bad about Kung Fu Panda 4
In dragon ball that would've worked on yamcha lol but I think that assassin was supposed to be mai
brandon graham Sadly...it is Mai :(
SSB4 Gogito I clearly know more about dbz and gt than Dragonball because I have no idea who this Mai is
Autum Breeze Mai is a woman who works for one of the first enemies in dragon Ball, emporor pilaf, and she uses guns and robots to try to stop Goku from messing up pilaf's plans of world domination. In super she, along with her boss and teammate, are kids again and try to steal the Dragon balls from bulma's birthday party.
9:48 Fantastic 4 to be more precise.
