14:02 Honestly, "Beware the demons" would've been a better line, since Piccolo in the anime was a Demon King before it was revealed he was an alien from Namek.
I was a late fan of dragon ball, right around the time Super was still coming out. I'm so glad my first piece of dragon ball content that got me into it was the Abridged Series and Not this film
Two interesting facts about this movie: 1, the script writer himself actually apologized for how badly this movie turned out and actually admitted that he barely did any research. Just like with the slumming it fairy scene he admitted that he was just after a paycheck. 2, despite how horrible this movie is I would never wish it away. For the simple fact that the movie was so bad that when Toriyama had actually watched it it inspired him. It inspired him to want to show the world how it’s supposed to be done, how you were supposed to make a dragon Ball movie and he made “battle of gods” essentially this movie was so horrible it revitalize the dragon ball franchise out of spite.
@@warryarusboi James Marsters is a king of Nerdom. He narrates the Dresden files audiobooks. Voiced Zamasu. Played Brainiac in Smallville. And blessed the world with all that is Spike on Buffy and Angel.

Generally I don't care about character races anyways unless it's specifically relevant. Like, Ras al Ghul is meant to be Egyptian/Middle Eastern and Bane is meant to be Latino, but Nolan cast two white British guys and nobody complained because they got the spirit down. Meanwhile a bend like Holly Short in Artemis Fowl getting cast as white doesn't make any sense because her being a brown-skinned fairy is part of why others disliked her, she didn't match the "ideal" of what a fairy is. In that case the race was important. Goku's not really a case like that.
0:55 The end result is knowing less about Dragon Ball than when you started. 11:23 I'm honestly surprised the movie got which Dragon Ball Goku received correct. 23:31 Well, there aren't any more Dragon Ball Z episodes, so he's technically right. 25:01 Considering King Piccolo was stuck in a rice cooker (no, I'm not joking) that jar would work fine. The Mafuu Ba seems to be able to seal an even spirit inside anything, no matter how small. 27:04 "The Matrix: Revolutions" had a better Dragon Ball-style fight than this!
Well there are a _few_ good live action adaptation of anime. Rurouni Kenshin is good, Gantz is visually amazing, Gintama captured the show really well, Inuyashiki and Bakuman aren't bad, and Ace Attorney isn't that great but it's almost as bizzare as the game. Also the girl is supposed to be Mai. You know, the Ribbon Company agent.
I am so glad that this movie did so poorly that it's not getting a sequel because if they made a sequel based on DBZ and ruined Vegeta, I would so pissed off!
My first DBZ experience was when I watched this review so I went to watch all of the abridged series in 2019 and my life was never the same heck I did not even know how many arcs there were until I bought DBZ Kakorot and then I was just as disappointed as all the other fans when learned that the abridged series was cancelled but the series is and will always be great.
The NC and other reviews channels are pretty good at watching movies or getting context of movies i may not have heard of, or have not wanted to watch, in a more entertaining way then just watching the movie, at least to me
“All Anime Adaptations to Stop” That’s a crappy wording of the wish, because that means no video game adaptations and those are a right sight better than Live Action Films. Just saying man!!
In the original, besides the fact that Goku had two sons with Chi Chi, Goku is pretty much asexual. He only cares about food, training and fighting. And here, he has to be sexually motivated to even train...
I remember seeing this on a 12-hour flight; I'm a fair-weather fan of DBZ who stopped after the Buu saga and when GT came out. Even then, this movie pissed me off. The stranger next to me looked at my screen and shook her head in shame.
Sad thing is James Marsters is a legitimate Dragon Ball fan and was excited to be in this... and then he had to constantly fight the producers just so he could actually be green.
I actually started by watching the original Dragonball, because it aired on our Anime Afternoon programme and have only fully watched the abridged of Z.
That - And this is coming from a DragonBall hater & Sailor Moon fan! - is bullshit!! The Kamehameha is not the only highlight of the franchise!!! What about Goku going Super Saiyan?! The Kaioken? The *SPIRIT BOMB?!?!?*
Omg does nobody get that just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean everybody thinks it’s trash! I’m the only one who likes these things 😔 I’m so unlucky

Actually The Manga is way better than this Shit.
Not all live action anime adaptations are bad, Pokemon Detective Pikachu was amazing.
Plus Alita Battle Angel was bad ass.

Like tristar’s Godzilla 1998
Also, the guy who played the Piccolo of this movie became the VA of another green, pointed-ears DB villain, also known as Zamasu.

KAKYOIN?!?
You should definitely watch the bloopers for this video, either for a reaction or on your own, because they're so amazingly funny
People don't seem to realize goku isn't an Asian human, he's a monkey alien that just kinda looks like a person.
I don't really care much what race he'd be casted as just as long as they actually look and act like goku which this one didn't.
