I retired from wrenching in 2009. I don't miss it one bit. One time I had a customer come in with a 1980 Dodge Aspen wagon (last year they were made, he explained) that had an elaborate setup attached to the roof rack that was comprised of 3" PVC pipe, rope and home-made "hinges". The ropes went down through the vents in the hood near the windshield and then through the firewall and into the cabin where they were connected to a series of levers and pulleys dangling from under the dash. He was in for "Front Brake Pads _ONLY_ " !!! A lovely old senior citizen with an instant temper. I asked about the roof contraption and his answer was hilarious. It seems he had become too old to walk his beloved Dog as far as he use to be able to after he had a hip replacement. So, he would drive to a nearby cemetery, attach the end of a rope to his pets collar and lower it out the drivers window. The ropes went into the end of one of the PVC pipes on the roof that was actually a boom that could be swung out and around the entire car so his pooch could wonder about freely. He could keep the Dog away from certain things by manipulating the levers and pulling on the ropes from the comfort of the driver seat. He said he would drive slowly around the cemetery until his Doggo was content and ready to go home. I kinda felt sorry for him. He had a tear in his eye as he talked about his Dog, and I couldn't help but notice that the Dog wasn't with him. I didn't ask why but, I assumed his companion had passed and he simply wasn't interested in removing his invention.

Technically you could say the fuel saver worked very well, because if the car doesn't start then no fuel is used so that fuel becomes fuel saved. 11/10 fuel saver.
Yeah, that last clip with the cargo strap holding the truck together is all the proof you need to understand that when you get pulled over for one license plate light being dim the cop is just looking to fill a quota or is on a fishing expedition.
Ill tell you something i always think ive seen it all by the end of your latest video. But then you bring out another episode and im in shock all over again! Great content 👍
I remember the old Mark IV vapor injection from the 70’s. Supposed it increased fuel economy by 10%. I remember seeing a test of it in Road Test magazine and (surprise) it was ineffective.
And those things make no damn sense. Why would automakers spend millions trying to squeeze 1 or 2 mpg out of their cars if they could just slap some $40 piece of crap on the engine, raise the sticker price by $40, and be done with it?
What's funny is those fuel vapor things can work, sorta. I have no idea what the hell that guy was doing though. There are a couple videos of people doing them on lawnmowers, none I've seen on a car tho
Always amazed at the innovation shown by amateur mechanics. I would have never thought of chaining the brake caliper. That was awesome! Also using pennies and dimes as spacers.
The "fuel saver" device works perfectly as you can't burn any fuel if you can't start the engine! Most likely that vehicle was getting awful MPG since the engine is completely worn out as the bottom end noise would indicate.
1:37 The worst thing was the mechanic charged a $195 diagnostic fee rather than having the honesty and integrity to say it was just a setting in the menu. It’s companies like that who ruin the reputation of the industry and scares customers away.
he did have to diagnose it though. Should he work for free? They could have been fixing a car with an actual issue but now they've wasted time because of a wrong setting. So yea customer pays
@@TheRealCatof They also had to book an appointment, receive the car, park it, get it back out when ready, diagnose, realise its easy fix and then return to customer. So a base/diag fee is kind of standard I would think
Nice 6th gen Celica at the end. I had a ST205 GT-Four when i was younger and it was quicker and handled better than my brothers Evo 2. My Dad and uncle used to import used cars from Japan to NZ to sell to car yards from the early 80s to around 04, mainly family type cars that sold well back then, Coronas, Crowns, Corollas, Bluebirds, Gallants that sort of thing. After my brother and I came back from a working holiday in Europe in the early 90s, we got involved, and on a buying trip to Japan, convinced my uncle to buy some sportier models, a Nissan Pulsar GTiR, a R31 Skyline Coupe GTS and 2 FC RX-7s. These cars were available new in NZ, but were brought in in small numbers and were expensive, in contrast, back then in Japan they were cheap, and 2nd hand, bulk car lots had an amazing selection to choose from. Anyway, the cars sold fast for a good profit, so more and more of the stock were sporty models, by the 2000s 3/4 of the stock bought was the likes of Mitsi EVOs, Gallant VR4s, GTiR Pulsars, Mazda RX-7s and a few Eunos Cosmos, Type R Civics and Integras, Supras, GT-4s, and later GTR Skylines. Any space left in the containers was filled with used 400 and 250cc 4 cylinder sports bikes that were super popular in Japan at that time. Wish i'd hung onto a few, prices for these type of cars is insane here now.
It always cracks me up the people who "fixes" it themselves, screws it up then has to get vehicle towed to a professional shop costing themselves even more $$$ than the original problem would have. 😂
3:13 I had a Colorado like this, bought it used from an irrigation company before the pandemic when used car prices were low. It was a simple, useful little truck, drove it for a few years and did some work on it. The most annoying was a bed-off replacement of the fuel pump which had the output lines severely rusted, and re-did the suspension front and back. Through doing the work, I realized the frame was not going to be long for this world... sold it to the next guy down the line so it could get some more work squeezed out of it before the frame got too bad.
Only $25 for the diagnostic fee. The rest is a "if you really want to pay for my time to do something you could have accomplished by reading the instruction manual, then I am happy to take your money" fee.
This was a particularly unhinged just rolled in jeeze haha! Also yeah we'll probably see more of these from people who can't navigate their car's settings/menus, and I honestly don't blame people for being confused with these. One would hope the manual would've had those details though but who knows. Might've still been formatted or explained poorly.
I had a rental where it took me, computer-savvy and all that, several minutes to sort out the digital climate controls, the seat heaters, and some other stuff that in a soggy/snowy spring came in handy. My 2002 Saturn didn't have all these expensive bells and whistles.
In my experience, it's not that people CAN'T navigate menus, but they DON'T. The vast majority of consumers leave everything on default settings on any technical device they own.
Had a BMW come in a few years back that the owner wanted rebuilt. He brought in all the parts in a U-Haul and didn’t mention anything about why it looked the way it did until about a week into us trying to get the drivetrain into working order. Apparently it was purchased in Mexico and brought across the border, having previously gone through a bar wire fence, had body panels brazed in place (the actual body, not just fenders and such), sat in the weather for a few years, and had an engine fire. We knew it was going to be a project and a half, but when we finally got the story behind it and found all the brass from the brazing job we had the guy come back and take the thing away. Would have gotten rid of it sooner, but it had a few other cars ahead of it in the queue.
"The marks on the roof are from a boat's propeller"... 😂😂😂 you gotta make that into a sticker. I thought I was cool rolling around in a car with the exact imprint of a kangaroo tail in the drivers door!! 😂😂😂
This video was so unbelievable, I had to watch it twice in a row! Wheel spacers? I don't need to buy washers, I'll tape on some pennies! You know the car was deep underwater when there are propeller marks on the roof!
It only wobbled because they used two dimes instead of pennies. Everyone knows that dimes are equal to 10 pennies. Severely unbalanced causing the wobble.
I have done some mediocre things to "get by" until i get the time to sort things out properly, but I always make sure I understand the consequences of what I am doing and try and work within those bounds. But the lack of understanding and assumed knowledge shown in some of these clips blows my mind and makes me feel a lot better about the things that I have done.
That last one reminded me of a truck I used to see driving around for a while, (Chevy I think) it was bent like a taco ...they were always driving slow for some reason 🤔

I lived in a state that went from full on inspection to just emissions. Nothing changed. Didn't get worse or better. Now i live where there isn't any inspections and I'm fine with it. We shouldn't be subjected to inspections because of a small percentage of people who do dumb things.
I have a Colorado. I can attest that yes, the frames rust on the driver's side. I had to fabricate a new frame about 2 feet long it was rusted so badly.
I was a mechanic back in the early 90's & having just rebuilt the front & rear suspension on my '14 Maxima I was a bit scared to take it to the shop. After I had it aligned by the shop, the mechanics told me "damn dude, you had it almost perfectly aligned & everything was tight". I was off in the red on both tie rods by a few degrees. I replaced on both front sides...the struts, control arms, outer tie rod ends, sway bar links & sway bar bushings. The rear end on both sides I replaced the shocks, sway bar links, & sway bar bushings...Thankfully I am apparently a good shade tree mechanic, but I do know my limits. I will not take the CVT transmission apart. Good to know that I hopefully will not have my car show up on here as a "look what this dumbass did"!!!
This channel definitely reminds a person to seriously ponder buying a car new and not having to deal with the millions of idiots and their half baked repairs. Certainly a testament to how well cars are made these days, withstanding serious torture.
This video was painful, and it displays many examples of why I don't like just any dipshyte working on my vehicles. I did all my own work on my vehicles for 45 years, and now I'm crippled and forced to pay shops when repairs are needed. I looked for a long time before finding a shop I trust.

I remember seeing a test of it in Road Test magazine and (surprise) it was ineffective.
yeah . .. and then there are the boneheads who think if one can get 10% "improvement", logically 10 would get 100% ...
And those things make no damn sense.
Why would automakers spend millions trying to squeeze 1 or 2 mpg out of their cars if they could just slap some $40 piece of crap on the engine, raise the sticker price by $40, and be done with it?
@@almostfm More like raise it $400. Optional enhanced fuel economy.
And people think that with modern technology.....Mankind is becoming smarter..... LOL
Definitely not lol
It had the inverse effect, because people no longer had to figure it out themselves and the computer does it.
When that doesn’t work, well….
These vids prove that having a good mechanic is very important. And get cars inspected by said good mechanic before you buy it!
I mean, that fuel saver seemed to work pretty well! Better than expected even!
But is 0 mpg infinitely good or infinitely bad? Well, they didn't use any gas, so...
What's funny is those fuel vapor things can work, sorta. I have no idea what the hell that guy was doing though.
There are a couple videos of people doing them on lawnmowers, none I've seen on a car tho
Many of these clips are scary, we drive with them all around us! Thanks.
Always amazed at the innovation shown by amateur mechanics. I would have never thought of chaining the brake caliper. That was awesome! Also using pennies and dimes as spacers.
It should be pennies OR dimes, never mix the two.
@@Dewydidit Obviously!
The "fuel saver" device works perfectly as you can't burn any fuel if you can't start the engine!
Most likely that vehicle was getting awful MPG since the engine is completely worn out as the bottom end noise would indicate.
notice how they cut a tin can in half, stuck it in the intake manifold and drilled 3 holes for those tubes lol...w t f ???
@@MMK86 That was the most elaborate and well-made "fuel saver" I've ever seen.
@@madkills10Going into a menu is hardly a $195 expense, but I guess the customer was also an idiot so...
@@TheRealCatof They also had to book an appointment, receive the car, park it, get it back out when ready, diagnose, realise its easy fix and then return to customer. So a base/diag fee is kind of standard I would think
@@madkills10 Doesn't change the fact that it's extortionate.
Common. Everyone knows when you are installing wheel spacers and they need to be shimmed you can only use pennies or dimes. Not both together. 😊
It’s terrifying to think that one of these piles could be the car next to you on the highway.
Hey, some of us fix our own cars and never have to take them into a shop!
@@bbgun061 Reread my comment. It was directed at a specific group of people.
That last truck gives new meaning to the saying ‘drive it till it falls apart’.
My favorite part is the shot of the $195 diagnostic fee to turn on the blind spot detection in the menus. Must have taken it to my local dealer.

@@101Volts We all see what you did there, Austin. It is...acceptable.
I can see the problem right away. Should of used dimes instead of pennies. Everybody knows that!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I suspect he couldn't afford it.....
"The marks on the roof are from a boat's propeller"...
😂😂😂 you gotta make that into a sticker.
I thought I was cool rolling around in a car with the exact imprint of a kangaroo tail in the drivers door!! 😂😂😂
I'm always amazed by these videos...and I'm just a backyard mechanic.
Finally someone truly understands what a cold air intake is.
That was probably one of the best videos of all heads of some of the perfect scenarios that you would never ever see unless it wasn't for craziness
Great upload to watch right before I go to work! Love your videos
Have a great shift 👍.
@@JustRolledIn Definitely will do. I work at Discount Tire 😁
I saw one of these funny meme videos a few days ago with a car driving through wet concrete completely oblivious to it. Glad to see the aftermath!
The boat propeller story was a good laugh 🤿
As long as it doesn't rains that GTI does have a cold air intake unlike many warm air intakes we've seen before
Definitely lol but could have done a better job with the hood 😂
The troglodytes have had a go at the lower grill as well. 😆😆
Watching your videos feels so therapeutic. After watching said videos, I feel great and don't feel sorry about my beat up car that I maintain myself.
I can still never get over the stupidity of some people as well as how dangerous other cars on the road are.
1:01 , Penny for your thoughts. Anyone? LOL
I loved that sheet metal screw through the strap and into the handle of that small plastic gas tank... 😁😁😁
Pennies are a lot cheaper than washers or spacers.
I have NEVER seen boat prop marks on top of a vehicle before. LOL. I cannot believe the stuff out there.
and vehicles just like these are coming towards you and your families everyday on our streets and highways
That last one reminded me of a truck I used to see driving around for a while, (Chevy I think) it was bent like a taco ...they were always driving slow for some reason 🤔
That wheel spacer was GOLD! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
per thickness, those are some good value spacers
Yep, and only cost him 39 cents!
Love the Lincoln wheel spacers.
I'm so happy I live in a developed part of the world where we have mandatory rigorous safety inspections..
Likewise!!
Americans: HOLD ON, i don't need the government to say how safe my vehicle should be!!!!!!
@@berryrijnbeek5938 Not in all states. Some states do require safety inspections. Unfortunately, my state isn't one of them, but our winters are harsh enough that cars don't usually last long enough for those kinds of issues to crop up.
I used to hate safety inspections because it took up precious time. I’m the kind of person that fixes whatever needs to be fixed so leave me alone. I now live in a state that doesn’t require inspections and I now understand why they are a good idea.
I lived in a state that went from full on inspection to just emissions. Nothing changed. Didn't get worse or better. Now i live where there isn't any inspections and I'm fine with it. We shouldn't be subjected to inspections because of a small percentage of people who do dumb things.
One of the best ones yet! Keep them coming!😂
One of the best things about living in the south is our cars last longer than the payments without rusting away.
At this point, it seems to be a competition to be seen on “Just Rolled In”… 👍🏼
😂 I wish. That would make things easier
That square body Chevy on the last page is a beauty!
Imagine what we'll see in the future episodes of Just Rolled In, when half the people convert to flying cars:)))
I am so glad that we have the "TÜV" (biannual vehicle and exhaust inspection) in Germany. None of those cars would endanger other cars over here.
(except for the window one, that was very funny and sounds like something i would do without realizing)
I love the flooded car clip and all the clips. Funny and Crazy
I love that they charged $200 to fix a operator error. BRAVO
2:40 My goodness. That is an "oof" right there.
The last one is a killer. How does it not get pulled over by the cops?? 🤣🤣
The theme of this video is:
"Nuts and Bolts,
Nuts and Bolts,
You are Screwed!"
I have a Colorado. I can attest that yes, the frames rust on the driver's side. I had to fabricate a new frame about 2 feet long it was rusted so badly.
o7... good luck out there lads, sharing the roads with these fuel saver and scrap yard rescuers alike.
When i see this i think
My repairs are over engineerd😂
Great channel to see what some people are prepared to do to there cars and drive them in such a dangerous condition 👍👍
Sometimes I think I mistreat my car whenever something seems off. But then I see these videos and I feel a whole better
Wow….
Just, wow!
Thank you
🙋🏼
This is why I do fleet work. I still see quite broken stuff, but separating the driver from the owner leads to a lot less diwhy repairs.
3:16 I'll drive some sketchy chit but this one takes the cake, I don't even think the guys on the reserve down home wouldn't even drive this
I was a mechanic back in the early 90's & having just rebuilt the front & rear suspension on my '14 Maxima I was a bit scared to take it to the shop.
So many of the car dashcam videos I watch now make much more sense. 😲😲
when something starts to creak in the car, it's enough to watch any video on this channel, oh my car is still in excellent condition😁
I'd say that fuel save worked perfectly. Your car burns no gas when it's not running.😁
That clip about Chevrolet Colorado that is about to break in two is insane. That blue strap is probably holding the frame together.
This may be the best one yet, but that means the most unbelievable shit ever!!
Propeller marks on the roof… I literally lol’d
That hole in the hood for the air intake on the vw, 👌effing mint😂
This one made me laugh out loud and I am by myself. Fish food.. how do they even have a driver license?😂😂
I was in a Ford Pinto that was so rusty the only thing holding front & rear subframes together was the E brake cable.
I'm so glad, we have by law mandatory periodic technical inspection for vehicles here in Germany. If the state of a car isn't meeting certain standards, you can't move it anymore on public roads.
95% of your clips wouldn't be possible on this side of the pond.
1:00 I legit thought this was just another high level prank or something, and then our dear narrator JRI said the words "new wheel spacers". My husband's asleep right now, I'm tryin' to be quiet! XD Stop making it harder! Omg they're also held on with clear shipping tape !
Some fuel vapor system!! Like I said always something I've never seen or heard of!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
