I have a couple in my room and am pretty chill with them. But this one time walking past my window I didn't see that one was there until it JUMPED INFRONT OF ME AND LANDED ON THE END OF MY BED. I decided the couch looked pretty comfortable that night.

Then one day I started to feed the spiders that lived around me (house and outside), watched them and later decided to handle one. I was frightened af but since then they became kinda my favorite animal and keep tarantulas for 10 years now. Spiders are dope!

It's really just the uncanny apparence, our brains have a hard time figuring out what their morphology is all about, so people who don't know any better imagine all sorts of nonsense about them. Jumping spiders can help a lot to overcome arachnophobia, because they look and behave a lot like mammals, unlike other spiders, so it's easier to feel empathy for them. And the other great thing that works is education.

You're not prey, so it's useless to use it on you and they generally have no interest in humans and would prefer it if you just left them alone. They only bite out of fear.
