Darkside used to be a xylophonist before so that is why he uses such big sticks and why he has such incredible cymbal work. They are imo the best Black Metal band of this century. Every album is straight fire. Mgła is 2 people: M. (Misroslav) and Darkside and they have another band together called Kriegsmachine which is also a phenomenal band.
I first heard this song being stoned out of my mind at a friend's place at 4am and it made me feel an emotion I can't describe. Something about that riff combined with the continuous double kick is just hypnotizing

Thanks for the info! The xylophone background makes a lot of sense! Thanks for watching 🤘

A small correction M ( Mikołaj żentara ) not Miroslav, Mikołaj means in English Nicholas

Darkside is like an octopus 😁 makes the drums an instrument that plays melodies, not only beats the rhythm🤘

I read an interview with him once. He's a trained xylophone player. Explains his love of cymbals.

glad you enjoyed it! MGŁA makes very "approachable" black metal, and the whole EiF album is a great listen - fantastic drummic, masterwork in composition and lyricism as well

Certainly glad I found them. Very interesting. I’ll try listening closer to the lyrics on the main recordings, hard to hear in the live recordings

Pretty sure he summoned and killed seven or eight gods in that second half.

You can't fully appreciate Dark Side's technicality until you actually see it, unreal percussionist.

"MGŁA" means fog in polish. Is is pronounced as [mgWah] (not [magwa]). It's the fifth track on this album. I love this piece and the whole album. And the lyrics are just incredible (but you must know the Bible to understand it).

They have a full quite explaining it more. But the band dress in that way and try and preserve a strong level of general anonymity. To make the music less personal and more about the performance. But the reasoning goes more deeper than that. But the band isnt a truly anonymous if you look you will find out
Also the drummer used to be a xylophonist and you can clearly hear that influence.

Oh wow yeah the xylophone influence is definitely there now you’ve said that!
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!

mgła - M,G(like in word "groove'"), Ł (like "w" in word "window"),A (like "'u" in word "cup") - there is no "L" but "Ł" - special letter in polish language :)

This whole record is insane, no black metal band has ever gotten me so intrigued. Too bad theres a controversy about them having ties to the nsbm scene so these live records of Darkside will remain my guilty pleasure.

I heard them for the first time and I wasn't impressed. No offense but I've heard of better BM bands but unfortunately not this one.
