      If you have several layers of text, videos, or photos on a clip or have complex effects on a clip, playback of your timeline may not be smooth. Final Cut Pro will try to play it back in real-time but may drop frames to keep the playback in the proper rhythm. By rendering clips where there is a dotted line, Final Cut Pro creates the final version of the frames so that it can smoothly play the timeline back. So this is a capability to use if you notice playback issues.
