- At an event at Hallett back in March, I went thru T7 at 85 mph when my right real wheel broke. The wheel went underneath the car, sending it up in the air. Thankfully it didn’t flip and I didn’t hit anything. The wheel ended up hitting the corner worker station, but luckily it didn’t hit the corner marshal.
The incident bent my rear subframe, broke the rear brake rotor, mangled the exhaust, bent the passenger tie rod and caused some body work damage. However, i’m happy to report i’ve since fixed the car, and it’s back on track. Also installed a new, full containment seat after seeing how much I rag dolled it inside the car.
This was one of those things that I don’t think could happen to me until it did. Use this as a friendly reminder to inspect your wheels. Stay safe out there.
That was crazy!! Glad you're ok though!
I'm moving from CA to OK with my miata next month and was looking into tracks.
This is the first video that popped up for me when searching "Hallett miata"
Maybe I'll see you out there lol
Come one out any time, friend! I'm an employee out here, and miatas are super super fun out here
thanks! and definitely check out Hallett when you get a chance. it's a damn good time. I'll be there in the summer for the NASA event and the Miata at Hallett event in the fall (check out Halletts website).
Insane! I am glad it was not worse.
This happened to me while running 80+ mph going through Big Bend. I’ve replaced my hubs with Miata Hubs and have not had a problem since.
Glad to have you back my man! This car is a beast! I installed a containment seat for the same reason back in March.
thanks man! i appreciate it. car feels great with the new suspension. and big ups to up for upping safety as well.
@@josegarciaracing yes sir! I hope to see you soon with TDE!
@@bigu likewise! see you out there soon
