    The fear of being truly seen makes me endlessly prepare and perfect myself, rehearse conversations and give excuses to not be vulnerable keeps me in the shell, peeping out fantasizing I was out there enjoying myself.

    One aspect of the reality of living with the impact of childhood trauma - the shame and the 'trust issues' - can be a concerted, chronic effort not to have cultivated friendships. In the extreme, then, there are no friends to turn to for help.

    Thank you very much ❤️ you are exactly right. Unfortunately I have spent the past 7 yrs looking for professional help and connections. I have ended up in hospital and going back to the same isolated situation. hearing authentic video's like this helps me to hang on🙏

    The problem isnt asking for help. The problem is you don't know "safe people" those worthy to ask help from. Bcz we already tried asking help from the unsafe people and that made things worse

    I finally found a professional who I can trust but at $180/session I wasn't able to go long enough to resolve my traumas before I ran out of money. He was exceptionally good because he had the same type of trauma as I have had in adulthood. Most therapists would not have a clue about what I've survived.

      Hey Janine. I strongly recommend somatic based trauma therapists. Maybe somatic experiencing as it's less about discussing the specific traumas but about working in the body with trapped fight and flight energy. There's a great online practitioner called Irene Lyon who you can find on RUclips and she offers online courses that are fantastic. Trauma recovery isn't necessarily about healing from a specific event but one of the body learning to regulate the nervous system. It's long slow work but done with patience it's really makes a difference. I can also recommend a book called Embodied Healing, by ally wise as this gives really grounded advice and exercises for you to begin to explore and integrate into your life. ❤

    I just went through second break up and it bought back so many painful memories from my childhood. I am a very sensitive person, have never been to a psychologist before but I made the effort to find one and I am hoping to embark on a long journey of healing.
    Writing and Talking to myself about co-dependency and my mothers death can only take me so far. I just want to be heard and to understand my trauma so I can finally be free of it.
