    This type of interview is what probably made Conan switch up the format... There is really no point in bringing someone on a show, interview them for 10 minutes, and speak over them for 5 of those minutes. Alex Johnson Maintaining the comedy? We have very different tastes in comedy then because not once did I find him funny. And I didn't feel awkward for Brain Cox because of how dumb Conan was - it was awkward because of the unfunny statements and retarded sounds he was making - he just happens to be dumb also.
      There is nothing more awkward than a person trying to be funny but completely failing miserably - but not realising it in the process. I have met loads of people in real life who are the same - and I feel like I should slowly sidle away from them - I would do the same with Conan.

      well thats what this is, comedy. if it gets too techical people will just give up and switch channels to other late night show. • @Sandesh98147
      @Sandesh98147 5 лет назад +2

      @Great White It is. I totally agree with you. but to reach larger audience and get them intrigued. Which isvery important as well. even in todays age where science has gone to the levels which were unseen even 50 years ago, a lot of people are still unaware of it. even you and me arent aware enough of the wide spectrum that science has reached. Only awareness can make us intrigued in this. I got into reading science by a biography of Richard Feynman which has nothing to do with science. We need mainstream people like conan do these kind of interviews so that impressionable people can get intrigued and go search for it.

    • @Sandesh98147
      @Sandesh98147 5 лет назад +1

      @Great White I said it before on some other thread, but ill repeat here, Its a show, unlike a maths class, so they have to be engaging and funny with audience. If it gets too technical and people get bored, theyll just switch channels to other late night show. Thats why it needs to be done. When an actor comes to the show, they dont talk about the nuances and technicalities in acting, and that goes fine. Its similar thing. late night shows arent a platform to spread knowledge, theyre targeted towards light entertainment. For the people who seek knowledge, theres ted talks to get them interested in a topic, theres other documentaries and educational programmes, theres books and podcasts for the cause. Late nights show air for a very different purpose, thats why you saw what u did. Its not very enlightening for anybody trust me, but it does trigger people who are genuinely curious like u seem to be to go dig for real knowledge.

    Have seen a few comments bashing Conan’s interview approach, and don’t necessarily agree. When you scale your audience, which in his case is broad, you need to strike a balance of meeting the subject matter at a high enough level where interest is kept and humor is injected without being patronizing - and I believe Conan accomplishes that pretty darn well. Heck, I appreciate that someone with Brian Cox’s intellectual acumen and credentials is provided a platform with this many viewers.

    First of all let me say that I would prefer to sit down and have a conversation with Professor Brian Cox as oppose to this comedianne of a talk show host and the writer of the above comment. It just goes show that people do not listen. The professor started to talk about time travel but because the host was a clown and loves the sound of his own voice the Professor did not get to explain himself on the subject matter.
    I'll make this brief, the statement above is utter alien. "Time Travel" and "Teleportation" are two different things. Yes, once these two projects/modes of travel have been fully experimented and certified you will understand their differences. Teleportation is like standing at one bus stop in London and then arriving at a bus stop in New York in a matter of seconds may be minutes but once fine tuned, it should really be in seconds. Just like making a phone call. Time travel is more of a dreamware anti psychosis procedure. When you time travel you will not be there physically just in mind hence you will not be able to change anything. Time travel can take you back into the past and also into the future.
    We all have 6 senses but only a tiny percentage of the worlds population knows how to use the later. Just LISTEN to me for a moment, the host of the show obviously only has four senses. Can you guess which sense he lacks?

    So apparently this is the first time many British folks have encountered a Conan interview. Allow me to educate you before you continue your condescension: Conan is a Havard educated stand-up comedian/writer that has had his own chat-show since the mid 1990's. Yes, he is quite goofy and can be quite loud, but his ultimate goal is to get the guest and audience to have a good time. This isn't an educational program, yet these types of guests (Cox, DeGrasse-Tyson, Kaku, etc.) often make the rounds on the chat-show circuit to promote whatever it is they are doing (book, show, research, whatever). There is no comparing to someone like Jonathan Woss or Graham Norton, although I do enjoy their shows as well. Conan just has a different style. I would suggest watching, if you care, his remote segments of the show that are posted here on youtube. It always seems like he is at his best when doing those. Either way, try not to perpetuate the stereotype of being self-righteous, judgmental, condescending twats. ;)

      +Michael Donaghy Cox did realize Lincoln was shot, his question 'What would you warn him about?' was going to lead the conversation on to the obvious problems that come with changing past events. Unfortumately Conan saw this as an opportunity to massively overact for the next twenty seconds and stifling any intelligent conversation.

    Conan's humor is so spontaneous. Love it. Cox is a legend.

      Yeah, it's pretty irritating how he interjects on pretty much all his guests. It's his show, but the interesting bits get overshadowed.

    I like Conan, but Brian is on a different intellectual level to be spoken to like so. This is why people enjoy Rogan's podcast more than all the late night shows combined; he lets his guests speak their mind and is open minded to a lot of topics. I hope he doesn't get suicided.

      Talk shows aren't conversations, they're semi-scripted celebrity-fluffers.

      U can’t compare a late night show to a podcast like JRE. Completely different.
