I've had 2 separate recovery periods. The 1st one was when I broke my ankle and like you, I had to stay off it, so I started a large complicated cross-stitch project that was 25 years ago, I'm still working on it. I think I will finish it this year. I started it because it was the only thing I could do. My second recovery period was rotater cuff surgery on my right side, and I did nothing but sleep a lot and watch tv. I'm so glad you have recovered and are doing well. The ruff looks wonderful, thanks for showing us how you made it.
The ruff is beautiful. My recovery project was a color work sweater. If I had not had my knitting, I would have lost my mind. So glad you are recovered.
When I was in the hospital for a couple of days, I made several granny squares. I hate watching TV and I wanted something to keep me busy and distracted.
beautiful work! one more thing is that healing takes a lot of energy, and you don't have any way of noticing how much energy it's taking really. my mama had a multiple broken bones and internal damage sort of fall years ago, and after days in the hospital and days of me hovering over her, she snuck out of bed one morning to putter around all independent.... and didn't eat for an hour and a half and literally passed out because she hadn't had anyone hovering making sure she ate often enough to compensate for the way her body was running through calories trying to heal all that damage!
Love the detailed instructions. I am a ways off from making one myself but I'll save this in my garb playlist to watch again in a year or so. Thank you so much.

Those patterns always look so complex . I can see how that would keep you busy and engaged while you are healing

There were so many days I could feel myself burning calories at such a fast rate just from rebuilding muscles. Thank you so much for your kind words

I can't find the link to the maker of the seam ripper/awl. Could you post it here please?
