WHY didn’t they cast Cynthia Erico in the goddam movie? ORIGINATED the roll, WON the Tony. And, sweet lord, WHAT SHE DID WITH THIS SONG… Thank god for RUclips so I can watch and hear her sing this song EVERY DAY. The sheer POWER, not to mention the superior acting chops… She starts opening her voice with “Got my house” and powers through (stopping the show three times MID-SONG), until her ASTOUNDING “I. AM. HERE!”, her body bent over with the INTENSE FEELING, the vocal production, her face turned AWAY from the audience, because she is saying it to HERSELF. Theater history. Made. Fantasia is okay, but she is nowhere NEAR the power of nature That Ms Erico is. ASTOUNDING.

Cynthia did not originate this role…..Lachanze did. And for the record….Fantasia did the role loooong before we ever knew of a “Cynthia Erivo”
