I tried to beat this ghost with the speed driving class for 20 minutes. I then switched to the drift class and beat him first try. Anyway great video as usual.
Drifting on sand makes you lose much time. At the start, focus on getting 3 perfects before reaching the ramp/turbo pad. Aim at the right and drift to the left in a way you can barely hit the right side of the “!” box on your second boost. Then complete the third one and jump from the ramp. At this point you get enough reserves to jump past the sand and take the lead. Do a little u turn to adjust your position and immediately start another 3 perfect boosts towards the fence sc. Try to land closer to the right wall after the fence jump. Air U-turn required. It saves time and gives you enough space to perform more perfect boosts until you reach the clock tower. Inside the clock, do a perfect boost to the right and try to follow the path as close to the wall as possible (with u turn), then start to drift to the left and don’t stop until you reach the ramp sc. For me, the trickiest part is to jump between those gear things without hitting their fucking invisible walls (they have a HUGE hitbox in the air, esp with blue fire lol). Close to the end of the lap, if you managed to maintain sacred fire, try to make some good boosts and stay close to the wall along that turn before blue fire. Then jump over the gap/hole and as soon as you land on the blue fire pad, immediately start drifting 3 times to the left. DO NOT JUMP from the pad, land and start drifting, to get even more reserves and avoid the windmill, if it happens to block you path. If done right, you can continue drifting closer to the wall on the left to save some time. A good lap transition is the key here. Try to make two perfects to the left and one to the right towards the ramp. You have to pass to the left of the “!” box. If you go too wide to the right, you may end up having less space to drift without hitting the box. After that, the strategy remains pretty much the same with blue fire enabled, except that now you make less drifts along the same distance and have less reaction time. That’s why you have to build enough reserves throughout the first lap.
Finally pulled this off, completing my Velo vanquishing once and for all! Actually lost Blue Fire early in the last lap, but was close enough that taking a sharper turn at the end was enough for the win. Of course, that final turn was actually one of my biggest time losses, as the drift I needed to maintain my reserves was a much wider turn than Velo takes. So with that, after 8 months of this one game, I can finally, _finally_ put it to- Oh right, Dev Times are coming. _sigh,_ Here I go again...
Crushed Cortex Castle! Which means that, ironically, Out of Time is all that is keeping me from being out of Ghosts to crush! I did find out something interesting elsewhere though: After exiting the Clock Tower, you can use the ramp to leap over to the other side of the ravine, on the right side of a giant gear/turn key combo. So far, you already know this. However, it's actually possible to pass on the gear's _left_ side instead. Apparently it's not only a bit further up the track, but has less offroad between landing and getting back onto the road, making this noticeably faster. You can do this with Sacred Fire or Blue Fire, but you CAN'T just drift over to that point when you have Blue Fire like the other side.
This track and Deep Sea Driving are the last Velo times I have left to beat. I finally know what I've been doing wrong. I was jumping at the ramp and at the shortcut instead of powerslide boosting. Thanks for the video.
For U turning, remember, it's down arrow FIRST, then brake (square) and U turning in the direction you need to. You don't press brake first before you press down arrow or you'll be braking in the air like an idiot or lose reserves on the ground. Yes you'll be holding all the buttons eventually, but the down arrow button is the FIRST button you always hold before you hold brake while U turning in the direction you need to. Then once you finishing U turning, release your finger off the brake before you release your finger off down arrow. In other words, never hold the brake button (square) unless you're holding down arrow at the same time.
Despite the fact that it took me almost the same amount of attempts as Lewis to beat Velo's ghost, I can't say that I hate this track as much as Gingerbread Joyride. For me, the part that makes the difference between life and death is the fence shortcut as everything is decided there and how well your timing and knowledge of u-turning are once you have blue fire.
OoT is for sure the hardest track to keep blue fire on. It took me days until I finally got it into hand, back in July or sometime around that. It feels so satisfying finishing this track. I myself didn't have any issue beating Velo, as I've already pretty much mastered the track, but I can see how people can struggle with it. About the thing about reserves - the reason why you feel like you can't keep blue fire on this track is because of lack of space for drifts (mini-turbos). When you go at such high speed you have very small amount of places where you can start a power-slide, and if you miss the opportunity, you gotta say bye-bye to your blue fire.
@@TheViperian I was hoping since the start of the GPs that we'd get a track like OoT again, but sadly, they aren't quite as hard as OoT. The last 3 tracks are pretty damn good tbh, but still not as challenging as OoT.
People actually said that Dragon Mines was their hardest? Once you figure out the U-Turning, its so easy. I had more trouble with Cortex Castle than I did both Drive-Thru Danger and Dragon Mines.
I think the three hardest ones for me were deep sea driving, cortex castle, and roos tubes, and even then roos tubes is just because the timing is very tight, as acceleration. The other two were just difficult for other reasons for me.
I did a practice run and just happen to beat Velo’s time but it didn’t count because his ghost was not on the track. I have yet to duplicate this run..... I must have gotten lucky because I’ve tried the same techniques as I did on that gold run and lose blue flame so easily. I’ll keep working on as soon as the red mist clears from my head LOL
I am seeing that most people complain about losing BF often, but they don't seem to be aware that "GOOD" drifts do not give that much reserve than "PERFECT" (as seen often in this video)
FINALLY FUCKING DID THIS TODAY!!!! Holy shit by far the hardest level to beat Velo. Harder than Papu's Pyramid, Dragon Mines, Hot Air Skyway, Oxide Station and Deep Sea Driving in my opinion. Obviously i struggled with all of these but nowhere near as much as i suffered with Out of Time.
@@TheViperian I'm glad even the pro players suffered with this too as it was ridicules lol. Beat all of the ghosts today and its so satisfying to finally do it ha ha.
Yeah I messed up twice and lost fire. Still beat Velo by 5 seconds lol. Velo you so sloow! Maybe WumpaLewis should have watched this video before he tried this track, because it took him 78 attempts to beat Velo 🤣
Hope you guys enjoyed this!

*Emperor Velo the THICCEST:* Are my Time Trials a joke to you!?

No problem! :)
Omg That invisible wall!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr! Ive hit it a couple of times... I thought I was going crazy..
This track was really frustrating with the seemingly random loss of fire but all your advice helped. Thank you.
wooo 2k subs congrats bro

And another one of the really difficult time trials done. You are awsome. Worked without any problems. Did it after only 9 attempts.
9 Attempts is better than 99 :P Anyway, great job!
Thanks bro! Very clarifying and useful

Thanks for this. I haven’t tried beating him in Out if Time yet so I’ll try this when I get home!

That's exactly what I experienced. This track is hell, cant wait for the dev times tho

5 people couldn’t beat Velo’s ghost... Good guide Viperian!
Lmao 😂

Wow very useful
Sometimes you have to say fuck speed and go drift. 😂👌

rest assured, once they are out, i will go ham on it
Thankyou viper, I'll be looking forward to it soon
I tried follow the steps but it didn’t work for me can you come to my house and beat velo time
Even ring rally in this track is very much easier to me
This is Velo’s home turf.
So, the ghosts don't end with Velo..
looks like he's not the final boss after all
He isn’t?
Hey dude, how are you? Just wanted to say thanks for the video on Deep Sea Driving. It helped wonders 👍🏼
no problem buddy :D
I have beaten Velo now in Out of Time. And I bet him with Accel engine swap. Not Drift
